I followed his gaze, my heart pounding in my chest. The water was churning, a dark shape moving beneath the surface." My eyes widened as I saw a half bull, half fish monster emerge from the water, its roar echoing across the lake. A monster from The Abyss? Reginald... was he trying to finish us off?
Eumhun drew her sword, her expression calm. "Stay behind me. I'll handle this."
The bull narrowed its eyes at her and rammed the barrier of water with its horns, sending the ferry and all of us in it tumbling, even with the barrier protecting it.
I held Raiki tight as we were thrown across the deck. The world spun around me, a blur of sky and water. When the world finally righted itself, I saw Eumhun was gone, as was the sea monster. Had she been thrown overboard? Or... had she been eaten?
"Eumhun!" I yelled, my voice trembling.
"She went to fight it," Noel said, gritting his teeth. Blasts of light and shadow lit up the lake as the Taeyang warrior fought the monster.
