Chapter 1010 - Chapter 1004: Ferry

Amaya PoV

Our wagon rolled through town as it made its way to the port.

Raiki stared out in anticipation. He had ridden a rocket but never a ship. The kid loved anything new and adventurous.

"I'll go book us passage on the ferry," I said, stepping out of the wagon once we arrived at the port.

The port of Albaru Aleazim was full of strong smells. The sharp, fishy scent of the lake, the earthy aroma of wet rope, and the sweet perfume of spices from nearby stalls, and the smell of the strong men offloading and onloading goods. The men here were strong, but not like those of Kuroriku. They were lean and wiry, their skin tanned a deep brown by the relentless sun.

There was also a hint of... something else. A sweet, cloying smell that made my nose twitch. I saw a group of men in a corner, smoking from a long pipe, their eyes glazed over.
