Noel PoV

Sufiya studied Amaya for a while, her light blue eyes narrowing as if trying to peer into our heads. She was a woman who had seen too much, too many betrayals, too much bloodshed. Trust was a luxury she couldn't afford.

"I'd rather just kill you," Sufiya said, her voice cold. "But if you're willing to come willingly, I might just spare your lives and let his grace decide your fates."

Amaya smiled. "A generous offer."

"Don't mistake this for kindness," Sufiya said, her grip on her scimitar tightening. "I am only doing this because I am curious. And because I want to see the look on your faces when the Sultan sentences you to death."

The rest of her forces surrounded us. With their scimitars drawn, we were outgunned. We had to play along. But would they really listen once we were brought before the Sultan? What if they just killed us without even letting us speak?
