Konoha, Outside Death Forest.
After figuring out the initiating mechanism, Isagi still didn't make a choice and first opened his own character panel, information about his current abilities appearing before him.
Name: Arisawa Isagi
Age: 14
Abilities: Chakra (Green), Taijutsu (White), Wind Release! Gale Palm (Green), Earth Release! Mud Wall (Green), Body Flicker Jutsu (Green)
Overall Rating: Green
(Ratings from lowest to highest are: White < Green < Light-Blue < Blue < Light-Orange < Orange < Light Red < Red < Light Gold < Gold < Black)
"I see… guess I have no choice but to choose these two…" After looking at his property panel, Isagi, who knew how dangerous it was gonna be in the forest, decided to choose the obvious choices out of the three. Yes, there were chances of failing, but time was running out, and he had to gamble.
"Choose 1 and 2." Said Isagi in his mind, and the words floating before him disappeared and a small spinning green circle appeared in its place, Isagi's breathing intensifying a bit as he waited.
Finally, after a few seconds, which to Isagi felt like hours, the spinning green circle disappeared and two words appeared in his vision, a smile appearing on his face.
{Replication Successful}
As the words flashed, Isagi felt a warm current rushing through his body, and his muscles, especially leg muscles, began to twitch like the very muscle memory was being rewired by some unique force.
The feeling lasted for nearly three seconds, and Isagi felt completely different from before, immediately opening his property panel.
Chakra (Light-Blue), Body Flicker Jutsu (Light-Blue)
Replicants: 1/10 (Refreshes to zero after a year)
The panel was almost the same as before aside from the change in chakra and body flicker technique, both improving a grade in rating and reaching the level Light-Blue.
But the number of people he could copy had been reduced by 1, showing he had to choose his targets to copy very carefully as he didn't have many chances.
"Now then… who should I copy next?" Muttered Isagi, knowing while he had gotten stronger, it was still far from enough to grant him absolute safety. If by chance he ran into Orochimaru or the bloodthirsty Gaara, the most likely outcome would be death.
"Hey!! Come on start the damn test already!!" But at this moment a loud voice took the attention of Isagi and most of the genin outside the forest.
Isagi saw a familiar yet unfamiliar face, a short guy with yellow hair, Konoha forehead protector on his forehead, whiskers on his cheeks, and donning an orange attire.
Next to him was a handsome boy with black hair and a cold face, wearing a blue shirt having a red and white fan emblem at the back and white shorts. The third was a girl dressed in red and having pink hair, her eyes overflowing with love on the black-haired handsome boy.
"Not yet… they are not ready yet, and whether I can copy them successfully is also a question."
The two saviors of the shinobi world were obviously good candidates to copy, but he knew it wasn't the time yet, and whether it was Sharingan or Naruto's Uzumaki Physique, Nine Tails Chakra, Indra and Ashura's chakra, they were all things having at least a rating of orange.
A meager green ability had a successful replicating rate of 80%, higher ones would only have less, and he was currently too weak to gamble this hard and waste precious strength improving chances.
As Isagi pondered, Naruto suddenly showed a shocked look as a kunai passed by his face, making a small cut and blood trailing down, in the same moment the woman who was right in front of everyone appearing behind him.
It was a woman of average height with purple hair and donning a cream-colored coat with black mesh attire underneath, covering her beautiful curves and protruding chest.
"You sure are energetic but… boys like you die the fastest." She said in a chilly voice, her fingers tracing the dripping blood on his cheek, Naruto's back soaked with cold sweat.
But suddenly the purple-haired woman's face changed and a kunai slipped out her sleeves, aiming it behind her but stopping midway as a long slithery tongue rolled out the kunai she had thrown out earlier.
"Here you go." It was a woman with pale skin and snake-like tongue, a bamboo hat on her head but radiating a chilly aura, the purple-haired woman smiling back at her as she took it back.
"He'd be a good choice… but sadly I'll die before even touching him once." Isagi, who witnessed the famous scene, couldn't help but show a dejected look.
Unlike Naruto and Sasuke, who had either something not valuable to something too valuable, Orochimaru had a treasure trove of ninjutsu he could copy. Even a few of them would make his strength reach another level, but sadly it was just a fantasy.
"Guess let's just focus on small improvements for now… superimposed they would still take my strength to at least one rating above."
As Isagi decided, Mitarashi Anko finally began to explain the rules of the second exam, with each team given either a heaven or earth scroll and the task to bring both scrolls to the tower in the middle of the forest in five days.
