Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Within the capital city of the Rynberg empire, Raven.

Around noon, in the throne room.

"So you have finally come, Ryan." The emperor said his voice somber.

"Yes, your majesty." A man dressed in a dark red robe that had three five pointed stars on his left chest kneeled on the red carpet before the throne. The hood of his robe covered his face but long silky blonde hair streaked out of the hood onto his chest. A red carpet extended from the massive doors leading to the throne itself. Seven armored knights stood, walls that had no ears. Lennard stood besides the emperor as he looked at Ryan.

The stars on the robe symbolized that the man was a peak arch mage, a man who stood at the peak of magic. His name renown in the whole Vlaris domain. Ryan Vicar Gregory.

" There is no need for formalities between us, are your parents well?" Edward asked, tying to overcome the awkward silence that paltered the throne room. He seemed to be in perfect health as if he had not fought a grandmaster magic swordsman about a month ago. He was slumped on the throne. A silver chalice in hand as he drank from it occasionally.

" They are well, your majesty. I have come to report about the quaking incident. I believe we have found the source. " Ryan said whilst looking down. Unlike the friendly tone of the emperor his was rigid, irritated by the two before him. Edward sighed at the sight. " Alright then, so what was the cause?" Edward shelved his attempts to bridge the gap that had over the years formed between Ryan and himself. Lennard's eyes reflected sorrow at the encounter, his trembling hands 's hidden behind his back. There were more pressing matters.

" The summoning ritual is the cause of the quaking of the world. Your majesty, as you know the summoning ritual it links our world with the worlds of the summoned. Allowing us to take individuals and bring them to our world .That is how we have determined which worlds were safe to summon from unlike our encounters in the past where we incurred the wrath of powerful beings overlooking some of those worlds.

Thus we specifically summon from those worlds without a guardian. It seems that every time we summon a creature, the link grows stronger between mergard and that planet. The link that exists now has been reinforced by the consecutive summons afterwards due to the lack of rest between the intervals of summoning.

Currently multiples links have been formed between our planet and the other planets. Due to those links the planets are gravitating towards each other, at the center is our planet, mergard. " Ryan said as the hall went quiet at his words each person digesting the bomb shell dropped by archmage Ryan.

" So, what will happen when all those planets collide with ours?" Although he had a feint idea Edward inquired nonetheless.

" The destruction of all parties your majesty. All life on those planets will be lost." Ryan said, though his tone was without dread it highlighted the seriousness of the situation. " How do we stop it?!" Lennard interjected.

" We need to stop the summoning rituals however that will only delay the problem not solve it, we must find a way to sever those links." Ryan said, whether intentional or not almost every word that left his mouth spelled disaster.

" No, the summoning ritual cannot be stopped." Edward said sternly, his decision firm. Before the planets collide Linnaeus would have killed and annihilated them. "Unfortunately your majesty that decision is not ours to make." Ryan said slowly dragging his words.

" Why?!" Edwards asked furiously, there seemed to be no end to the flies that kept intruding and interfering, he let out aura as he stared at Ryan," Ryan why does it seem like you are a messenger of chaos, one bad news after the other, so why not?"

" Archmage Linnaeus has already made the decision for us, he has sealed space. All fabric of space and magic has been sealed outside the planet. So it has become his domain. Though it gives us more more time to find a solution with regards to the collision it also means that we can no longer summon anymore creatures to fight his forces. We have to make due with the forces we have." Ryan said as his staff floated on his righthand side protecting him from the emperor's aura.

Silence enveloped the room as aura churned in the throne room threatening to crush everyone under the emperor's anger. " Linnaeus you bastard!" The emperor said as he smashed the armrest of the throne.

" So he noticed after all, with the summoning magic sealed, the people will feel the brunt of the war, so how long can he seal it and can you unseal it Ryan?." Edward stretched out his arm rubbing him temples.

" About 6 or 7 years, your majesty I cannot currently undo the seal. I believe from the strength and mana fluctuations of the spell that Arch mage Linnaeus has long surpassed the rank of arch mage." Ryan grit his words as he said those words, how long would he have to wait to rank up to saint magician, to be free from the shackles that bind him.

He sympathized the most with the summoned creatures, more than anyone in the world of mergard for he was also in a similar situation. How comical was it that the most powerful magician was slave to the throne and its whims.

He loathed the emperor more than anyone, his gaze fell onto Lennard. His murderous aura nearly leaked out at the sight of the man however he reined it in. Everybody sensed the deep loathing, gnashing and baring its teeth at them but the emperor and guards were impervious to it. Edward looked at the figure of his friend kneeling below, he knew how he felt but considering future prospects he felt that his decision back then was correct.

" Lennard fetch me a parchment, I need to make a royal decree. It seems the time for war has come in earnest. Once and for all I will rid my world of that bastard Linnaeus." the emperor stood up, he was about to don his armor once more.

" Before you go, what about the other matter matter?" Edward asked, " We have annihilated most of them however the rest have gone into hiding, we are flushing them out as we speak, the next team is set to go to the territory of duke of Marcius my liege." Lennard answered, he was disappointed in himself for how long it was taking to solve such a simple matter.

Kingdom of Belford, duke Marcius's domain.

Baron Dalton's territory, Rosewood village.

Nathaniel stepped into a blacksmith's store, Kahn's weaponry.
