Chapter 228 - Hacker or not?

Seeing the player, who was probably BigBear approach him, Bian stood up and shot at him.

Ratata!

He hadn't used hot weapons before, but he had great control over his body. Most of the shots hit BigBear, getting deflected by a liquid metal.

"Kinetic armor!"

By the time the liquid armor broke, BigBear had already landed. He brought out what looked like a bigger cluster grenade and dropped it.

"A cluster grenade, that's fine. I'll kill you first!"

To say playing this game got his blood boiling would be an understatement.

Ratata-

Bian was about to secure the kill, but BigBear fell into the grass and at the same time, he ran out of ammo.

Before he could curse, the clusters exploded, but they didn't damage him. Smoke filled the air and obscured his entire vision.

"I can't even see my hands!"

Bian turned around and ran like the wind. This was the other class he was thinking of going for one simple reason alone.

Enemies could be seen through the smoke!

So while Bian didn't know where BigBear was, BigBear could monitor his every move.

"He's not shooting?"

After Bian escaped the smoke, he noticed BigBear didn't chase him.

"Who knows what else he got from the airdrop. I better upgrade my weapon to a futuristic weapon first."

The main reason Bian ran was because BigBear was carrying a futuristic weapon. That meant he used the universal mythical material on his gun, and not just any gun but a sniper rifle.

The mythical form was capable of shooting pure electricity, which could instantly kill an opponent with a direct hit and stun enemies in a 3 meter hit range.

"The only downsides are high ammo cost and the charge time. Plus snipers are notoriously hard to use."

Bian ran under the cover of trees. He ran to the nearest thread, which was in the city.

He kept running until he reached a broken shop. Directly behind the door, he found a legendary gun material.

Bian took it and ran into the nearest building for safety.

"I can fuse the materials now. Hmm, that makes me wonder if I can just use the Emperical Decree directly."

Although Bian said this, he was reluctant to try. His powers didn't limit him, but if he pushed them too far, he could irreversibly harm himself.

Still, this was a virtual world and he always felt his limits when trying. If it was ever too much, he could just stop.

Before Bian fused the legendary material to the AK-47, he paused and brought out the second AK-47.

"Would the system recognise it?"

He activated the Emperical Decree on both of them. Both guns turned to streams of indigo light that flowed into each other.

There was a slight delay, and then a new assault rifle dropped. Bian felt it was lighter than before, yet he knew it wasn't any weaker.

The gun also had a red dot sight.

"The AK-47 was already common. This is the AK-103, an uncommon gun. Asides from being lighter and having a scope, it also has reduced recoil."

Bian read the description of the gun and was quite satisfied with it. If he had encountered BlackBear with this, it might not have been so difficult to break his armor.

"So the Emperical Decree works here and it works without draining the slightest bit of energy. The way the game functions, if I use the Emperical Decree in the smokescreen of a smoke class, then I wouldn't be discovered at all."

The game's security towards cheating prevented any external point of weakness. It was even stated as a point of pride that their in-game observation capabilities were subpar.

This was because no one could cheat in the game; they never would have expected Bian had something crazy like the Emperical Decree, and it worked from the inside without any hacks.

Now Bian was regretting not landing in the city; if he had, he could have picked up multiple guns and gotten a mythic gun early game.

"No, it is not too late."

Not regarding time, he ran around the map picking up guns, materials, grenades, and armor.

There were no materials for armor, but he directly fused metal plate armor into kinetic armor and kinetic armor into hexagonal armor.

Hexagonal armor created a gold screen on top of his character made of small hexagons. It was the most durable armor in the game and just like kinetic armor, it could recover outside of battle as long as it wasn't broken.

He also got a pure white assault laser gun that could pierce through walls and lower-grade armor.

He had three black hole grenades and tens of materials. His bag was filled to the brim.

"The materials are sorta useless to me. Unless I fuse the materials first to mythical grade and pretend I found it from a crate."

Although the chances of that happening were low, it wasn't zero. It would be a good cover-up.

Then as the safe zone shrank, a wall of fire approached. If anyone was trapped outside the wall, they would constantly burn until they died.

"Now that I'm in the city, I should aim for the high ground."

He broke a window and scaled into the building. The crackling sound of electricity echoed in his ear as an EMP wave expanded to four meters.

"A trap!"

He could hardly move his body, but he heard footsteps rushing from above.

Although Bian couldn't run or dodge, he could still aim and shoot. He pointed his gun at exactly where the player would come from and shot at the first sight of him.

The sound of the laser gun was quite pleasing; it pierced through the opponent's liquid armor like it was butter.

The opponent was no slouch either; he used a shotgun, but the distance was a bit far to instantly kill Bian.

The pellets that managed to reach him were blocked by the hexagonal shield. In a couple of seconds, Bian was free to move while the enemy had died.

"Mythic gun and kinetic armor."

Bian was quite satisfied with the combo. He had to research the best mythic gun when he returned.

He didn't loot his opponent's crate as even the ammo was different from his gun. Before Bian could even climb the staircase, a condensed ball of electricity landed beside him, releasing a paralysing shock.

"BigBear!"

The kinetic armor could handle this kind of shock that was a direct attack. Bian sprinted out of the building and saw BigBear behind a car.

Taking a step forward, his figure split into four, each running in separate directions.

BigBear changed from the electric weapon to a small machine gun and attacked the closest figure.

The figure faded upon contact, but he didn't slow down. He entered the car and rammed the second clone.

Laser shots rang out from the third floor of a building, hitting BigBear and the car.

"The laser gun doesn't have much recoil, but it's hard to hit a target this far."

As Bian was about to use Vital Point Targeting, which would practically be aimbot, he heard the sound of the hatch opening.

"Cicely is back."

As he thought this, a condensed ball of electricity hit his character's head, breaking through the hexagonal armor and killing him instantly.

Snipers and shotguns had the highest damage in the game, snipers especially, but were quite difficult to handle.

A mythical sniper would one-shot kill anyone regardless of armor if it was a headshot.

Game over.

He removed the game and turned the function back to its input/output mode.

"You're back?"

"Yeah, I saw you were in a game, so I didn't disturb—wait, when did you learn to speak?"

Bian just shrugged his shoulders and explained he learned some basic words. He wasn't that proficient in the language yet.

He was reluctant to ask, but he had to know, why did she take a complete stranger in?

If she just wanted to traffic him and sell his organs, that would be good. But if she was getting feelings for him, that would be terrible. After all, Bian was happily married.

The tension rose in the air. Cicely took in a deep breath and went to the kitchen counter. She started preparing dinner.

Bian moved his hand to remove the headset when she started talking.

"I never knew my parents, my adopted dad was a Marquis who had high hopes for me."

Bian left the headset on. He had learnt the basics of their language, but his proficiency was far from the standard needed for a conversation.

"I was quite untalented, so untalented that it was shocking for a member of a high race. It took a lot of resources for me to reach Viscount. My dad worked with the people exploring the depths of the Tianxia system, he did field work like logistics and sometimes brought back trinkets or souvenirs."

Bian took in a breath of cold air.

'That's what the Black Token is. It must lead to some place in the Tianxia system.'

Bian figured it would be easier to trade for the Black Token, since she didn't know what it was for, but now was not the time to mention that. Her sad tone of voice indicated this story didn't have a happy ending.
