The sound of running water from the bathroom startled Romney Queens awake. He opened his eyes, and though it was only 7 a.m., Gale Summer had already gotten up and was taking a shower.
It seemed like she had been showering for a very long time, so long that the sound of the water was becoming unbearable to him.
Rolling out of bed, he was about to knock on the bathroom door, when the next moment, Gale opened the door, stepping out wrapped in a bath towel.
Perhaps not expecting him to be up so early, Gale was startled and took a step back, looking at him warily and instinctively saying, "It's already a bit past seven in the morning, I've already taken a bath."
There was an implication in Gale's words - don't start anything, especially now that it's daytime.
Romney could only find her words somewhat amusing. They were husband and wife, so why would he need to distinguish between day and night if he wanted her?
