Chapter 153 - A Single Drop of Poison (152)

Atlas, always brimming with curiosity, moved closer and settled beside Starfania. His piercing eyes, filled with unspoken mystery, seemed to hold countless untold stories. The head scientist, momentarily taken aback, turned his attention to the dragon with clear astonishment.

" Is this magnificent creature yours, young lady? " he asked, his voice lace witn intrigue. Starfania nodded, and a smile tugged at the scientist's lips. " He's quite the beauty. What species does he belong to? "

Starfania simply shrugged. " Honestly, I have no idea. He just… appeared out of nowhere. "

The scientist raised an eyebrow, a mix of disbelief and fascination etched across his face. "Out of nowhere, you say? That's quite remarkable. And you've been caring for him since?"

Starfania nodded again, her heart swelling with pride. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Atlas's origins, their bond was undeniable. The dragon shifted his weight, curling his tail around her protectively. The head scientist took a cautious step closer, not wanting to alarm the creature.

"May I?" he asked softly, extending a hand. Starfania held her breath as Atlas tilted his head, studying the man's gestures.

"It's all right, Atlas. He means no harm," she reassured him. With a tentative nod, Atlas allowed the scientist to gently touch his shimmering scales.

"Fascinating," the scientist murmured, observing the unique patterns. "His physical traits—so unlike any dragon on record. Your intuition led you well in nurturing him."

Starfania felt a flicker of hope; perhaps Atlas was more than just a mysterious arrival. Perhaps he was special. They stood in silence for a moment, both enchanted by the dragon before them. Starfania's thoughts raced. Would they ever uncover where Atlas came from? Her mind wandered as she imagined countless adventures waiting to unfold.

"What do you think he can do?" she asked, breaking the quiet. The scientist looked thoughtful, his eyes sparkling with possibilities. "With creatures like him, it's hard to predict. But I sense there's much to discover."

Curious but focused, Starfania asked where she should place the vial. The scientist gestured towards a nearby table, and she carefully set the vial down as instructed.

Before they left, he reminded them to return tomorrow for any further updates. With the task complete they headed back outside to where the Primara Nation greeted them. Starfania turned to Aeron and Vi. " So how was your day? "

Aeron's eyes lit up with excitement. " Honestly? It was amazing! We got to see so much of the Primara Nation. "

Vi nodded eagerly. " Yeah, we had a fun day. It's so vibrant here compared to VulcanFire where it's all gloomy. "

Starfania sighed dramatically. " I'm really jealous. You guys got to explore while I was stuck in a war meeting. And, to top it off, I got scolded for trying to be helpful. "

Vi chuckled and grabbed Starfania's hands and looked up at her with those innocent eyes. " Hey, don't stress about it. Your efforts always matter, even if others don't see it right away. "

Starfania exhaled deeply before managing a small smile. " Thanks, Vi. That means a lot. "
