The lyrics are not entirely correct because without people, there would be no concept of society. Complex people will inevitably form a complex society, so society is never simple.
One thing the song got right—people are complex.
The teachings are always straightforward—recognize delusion and depart from it, recognize illusion and depart from it, recognize truth and act upon it.
Departing from delusion leads to true vision, departing from illusion reveals the truth, practicing truth is genuine cultivation.
Is this complicated?
It seems even simpler than elementary school math, yet people are so attached to the four inversions as the self, taking the false appearance of constancy, ease, self, and purity as true vision, and instead, they doubt the straightforward, sincere teachings.
