Chapter 99 - A lie and his hopeful eyes

"What were you doing here in the forest, by the way?"

"Hunting," Sienna answered Dylan cautiously. "I was looking for a deer or a rabbit."

She only had a two-hour break from work, and she wouldn't have much time left after resting. Her heart sank when she realized she could no longer hunt and couldn't bring blood for Davi.

"It is for my family's dinner later," she added when she noticed the curious look of the man beside her. She glanced at her hands on her lap. "But I think I will just buy meat in the town market."

"I can help you with that."

She lifted her gaze to him.

"I can hunt for you," he added before she could ask him to clarify what he meant. "Consider it a small token of appreciation after you saved my life."

He smiled.

It was a charming and gentle smile, one that held no ill intention at all. This only proved further that Dylan was a kind man, thought Sienna. It was not every day she could see a person willing to help someone of low status like her.
