Nia Mitchell awkwardly scratched her head, not daring to look at Maxwell Peary's current expression.
"What do you mean?"
Seeing her continued hesitation, Maxwell Peary finally asked.
Nia Mitchell gave a nervous laugh and then took two steps back.
"I accidentally fell this afternoon, and then..."
She offered a brief explanation, and after speaking, she carefully observed Maxwell Peary's reaction.
Maxwell Peary's expression at this moment could only be described as ashen.
"Why didn't you say so sooner!"
Veins throbbed on Maxwell Peary's forehead. What on earth was that foolish thing I just did? And why did I have to say it so ambiguously, causing such a misunderstanding!?
"I didn't know you'd misunderstand either," Nia Mitchell defended herself, her face red.
Maxwell Peary heaved a deep sigh. He was truly at a loss with her.
"I'm going out to get something to eat. Come with me."
Not giving her a chance to refuse, Maxwell Peary took her small hand and led her downstairs.
