"My ring... give it back to me!"
Vera Wave held out her small hand and spoke solemnly.
Kris Cooper had already mentioned that the two rings were prepared for their wedding back then. That ring was hers, and when she left before, she took it off and returned it to her. Now, of course, she wanted it back.
Raising both hands to untie the necklace around his neck, Kris Cooper carefully took off the thin chain, reached for her finger, and gently slid the ring onto her finger.
The ring was slightly crooked, so he gently adjusted it. Holding her hand, he softly caressed the back of her hand with his thumb.
