"The plane landed at one." Amelia Clarke smiled and replied, "I came back in such haste that I forgot to bring gifts for Grandma and Grandpa."
At that time, her heart was set on returning, eager to see Owen Moreland, leaving no room to think about anything else.
"You just came back and already came to see me. That makes me happier than any gift could." The Old Madame Sheldon picked up a piece of pork knuckle and placed it in Amelia Clarke's bowl. "Eat more."
"Grandma, you eat too." Amelia Clarke placed some black fungus into the elder's bowl. The Old Madam had high blood pressure, so eating black fungus would help lower it.
After the meal, the four of them, young and old, moved to the sofa in the living room while the servants busied themselves clearing the dining table.
"Where are Cousin Edward and Uncle David?" Amelia Clarke asked.
"Edward's out with friends tonight, and David is at the company," Old Madame Sheldon answered.
