Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

A large boom ring out in the front of castle, it's sound beating against the walls. Thick black fog enveloped around the castle, unmoved by the rushing winds that followed it.

Lucius's stood up quickly looking around. His eyes turning from a cold blue to a magma red.

What's going on? What are those clouds?

His heart began pounding relentlessly. Turning quickly from left to right his eyes searched for the fox maid. He raced through the garden, the sound of the boom and flames growing louder after each step. The mysterious fog reached the garden, clouding his steps, eliminating his sight.

"Maid! fox maid," he called.

Lucius paused, nearly falling, but catching himself. Why can't I remember her name? Why can't I, why can't I bre..breath?

His heart became a jackhammer, it's sound beating in his ears. Lucius gripped his chest, tugging at his skin, enveloped by the feeling of agony. His body had gone limb, his eyes closing and opening repeatedly, the weight of gravity dragging him to ground.

There he lied on his face, his body laying still and silent.

In the sky a bright light appeared. Glistening and pure, The creatures of the day know it as a sign to rest, but to the creatures of the night; it is the time to rise.

"Master! Master," a maid called out.

From the cloak of fog the fox maid appeared.

Her eyes wide and mouth parted as she checked for his pulse. Narrowing her eyebrows, she quickly threw him over her shoulder and began rushing through the fog. She suddenly stops, lifting her head, her ears perked up, and eyes thin.

Who's there? She calls out.

Suddenly two figures emerge from the darkness. There eyes bright orange, wearing gothic apparel, holding long monochrome swords; with foreign words carved into them.

Well well, what do we have here?

Ooh, this one's a fox sister! We might get to have some fun with this one!

Relax, were not here for her.

Psst, you're so boring.

I suppose so.

Melia begins resting Lucius on the grass behind her.

"Come no further." The maid warned. In a defiant stance her eyes burned a bright yellow, and her tail fluffed out behind her viciously.

Look at her tail sister! It's so pretty! Can I keep it?

Well, you won't be able to take it from her while she's alive.

So, I can kill her then?

"Why do you have to ask?" The older sister palms her face.

I got this sister!

The small girl unsheathes her blade. Her pigtails flowing in the wind, as she turned her sword to the maid.

The fox maid's glare deepens.

She is but a teen, yet she wields such a sword. Her power may rival mine. But even children will not be spared, if it is for my master.

Her eyes dart back to Lucius on the ground.

Please awake soon master.
