Chapter 3 - • Healing Takes Time

They were greeted by a couple of elderly folk; though, these weren't just any elderly folk. These people were bulky and looked way too healthy for their age. Perhaps it was some sort of thing in this world?

Speaking of which, just what was Mana sense? Was it a natural ability, like you either have it or you don't?

Irise couldn't wrap her head around it. She mused pensively, This would be a great writing prompt, wouldn't it? Oh, if only I had a pen and paper…

"Hey, by the way, I noticed you don't seem to have any skills." Eori spoke abruptly, interrupting her thoughts. "Hm? Oh, right.. I, uh, never learned any."

Hey, Irise technically wasn't lying, right? She didn't know any skills whatsoever. She just left out the part about how she's from another world and that she's never heard of skills before.

After a short walk(and a lot of hobbling), they reached a grand building; in fact, the entire "village" was grand. It seemed more like a city to Irise. "This is the adventure's guild. It's where most of.. well, everything is." Eori explained briefly.

"There's an infirmary in the building. Maybe you could apply to be an adventurer after you heal?"

An adventurer. Yes. That was what she was going to be, no doubt about it.

. . . Of course, she'd have to let her leg heal first. That would take a while. Oh, well, a minor inconvenience. So what? Nothing was going to stop Irise. After all, she'd promised herself that she would no longer live in cowardice.

"Definitely. So, where's the infirmary?" The young woman inquired, scanning her gaze around the room. Doors were scattered along the walls, along with a spiral staircase that would probably make Irise dizzy if she tried going up it too quickly.

There were plenty of people; a group of adventurers, which she assumed had formed a party, a line in front of a rich cedar desk, and a friendly-looking young lady behind it. It was all so chaotic, and yet so organized at the same time.

"Ah, right. It's over there." The young man holding her up pointed to a deep oak door at the back of the main hall. "Then, let's get going! No time to waste," Irise chimed hastily.

And so, they made their way over to the infirmary. Now, the hard part.

Waiting.
