Chapter 3 - Enemy's base? [EDITED]

"We have to split up"

I spoke firmly, as my squad nodded in agreement.

I looked around a bit, analysing the layout of the building, before speaking.

"Ho-gu and Hayoon will take the left stairs, while Dae-seong and Kang Joon will take the other"

"What about you?"

Ho-gu asked, seeming a bit curious

"I would take the.... Does this work?"

I asked myself, as I looked around the elevator

It looked rough and unkept, but it still worked.

"I would take the elevator"

I said, already standing inside

Everyone nodded, and started moving according to plan.

~~~~~
I tapped the buttons and the elevator did it's job
So as to not stand idly, I began checking my weapons.
I checked if I brought enough magazines, checked for my backup handgun, checked if all my guns were loaded.
...PING!!
The elevator doors opened slowly, and it's sound seemed to have caught the attention of two terrorist, who were now walking vigilantly towards the elevator.
BANG!,BANG!!,BANG!!!
I shot quickly and hid back in the elevator.
One of them was dead, who wouldn't be?, after taking three bullets to the head.
His partner, suddenly gripped by fear, shot frantically
'any minute now!'
I thought in expectance
CLICK!, CLICK!!
The terrorist face went pale, surprised that he was out of bullets already.
BANG!,BANG!!
Another two to the head
THUD!
The sound of a lifeless body dropping to the floor, seemed to echo.
'I was able to count twenty nine terrorists outside, but I don't know if there's more'
"Ahh, what a drag"
I spoke with a sigh
"Seems too heavily guarded to me"
"Was our information wrong?, is this their base?"
"Hmm, seems to be the case"
I spoke to myself, having a full blown conversation with myself, as I checked each apartment room in this floor.
CLICK!
I opened the last door in this floor, walked inside, and started my search for terrorists.
I moved swiftly yet vigilantly through the rooms, then I found one, he was hiding behind the door , his feet had given away his location.
A small smirk crept up my face
As in a swift movement I pulled out my dagger and stabbed his feet.
"Aaahhhh!!!"
BANG!!!,BANG!!!
He screamed in pain at first, as his brain was probably distracted by the sudden wave of pain from his feet.
Then came silence...
It just noticed that it was dead.
I stepped out of the room, proud.
I was about to make my way back to the elevator, when I heard footsteps.
I repositioned myself quickly, and waited for them.
BANG!!!,BANG!!!
I shot the first person who came into view.
BANG!!!,BANG!!!
His second was taken care of before he could even react.
'Too slow'
I thought with a sense of pride.
Ho-Gu's pov
We handled the few terrorists we encountered in some of the rooms on the first floor, and proceeded to the next floor.
The second floor was a canvas of, blood, gun powder, and bullets holes, and of course dead bodies.
'it seems like jin-hun cleared this floor'
I thought to myself with admiration for his speed, as all these was done under six minutes.
"Oi Hayoon, it seems like the captain cleared this floor, there are eight rooms on this floor let's check them for hidden enemies"
I spoke casually to Hayoon.
...Crack on coms!
"Captain speaking, I have taken care of all hostiles in the second floor, your roles now, are to search the rooms for our target."
And with that the radio fell silent.
"You heard the man let's get searching"
i said with a bright face.
MC'S POV
With that done, I just need to focus on clearing enough enemies on each floor for them to have a peaceful search.
...Ping!!!
The elevator rings again.
As the elevator doors slowly opened, two enemies came to view, their rifles were pointed at the elevator, ready to shoot, and so did they.
They sprayed the elevator, before the doors were even open completely.
I hid by the side, my back against the elevator buttons.
I brought out my grenade, pulled off the pin, and threw the grenade beneath them.
They noticed, but too late, one had tried to jump away, but it was futile.
The explosion caused the elevator to shake violently, and temperature to rise.
After a few seconds, maybe a minute, I rose slowly, my ears were ringing, my vision were blurry, as I stumbled on my feet.
I walked out of the elevator, slowly, and not because I wanted to.
Visibility was low, because of the dust.
The floor felt unstable, felt like it could crumble under my feet, any minute now.
"....!"
I could hear something
Not something, someone.
I could hear loud, ragged and uneven breaths, and it wasn't mine.
Someone else was here.
And to my luck, his breath had given away his location, even through this dust cloud.
I brought out my dagger, and silently made my way towards the noise.
'Good, I'm behind him'
With swift movements I pulled back his head and slit his throat.
Luckily for me, the elevator wasn't too busted to work.
Though I was still a bit hesitant to use it
"Damn, they really went to town on the elevator"
"Looks like it could fall any minute now"
Hesitantly I tapped the buttons
It's struggling sound fed my fears even more.
Moving to the next floor, I checked my remaining bullets, not because I needed to, but because I needed assurance.
The annoying elevator sound came again.
And again, two terrorists were already waiting for me.
But unlike the previous ones, that shot at the elevator, mindlessly, these guys threw a grenade into the elevator as soon as they saw me.
'Fucking hell!'
I reacted before I could even think, and kicked it back at them.
They had already jumped away, to notice that the grenade was back in their side.
...BOOM!!!
The expected deafining explosion came, shaking the elevator, so violently, I thought it would fall.
A few seconds after the explosion the elevator's struggling noise, woke me, I had a splitting headache, I was seeing close to nothing, my ears felt wet, probably blood, and even my skin stung, from the heat.
Still struggling in pain, when i suddenly remembered the elevator, it wasn't going to last much longer.
With a sense of urgency, I ran out.
And just three seconds after I ran out, it fell.
'Damn!'
I stood there for a few seconds, before looking at the corpses in the destroyed hallway, as expected they were burnt beyond recognition.
...Haa
"This is becoming more annoying!"
"And I have to use the stairs now!"
"Tck, what a drag"
I spoke, already about to climb the right stairs.
"Brother!, do you think the Koreans are dead?"
"The fuck!, how would I know!"
"Like!, I mean, there was an explosion, twice, then total silence, they might be dead already"
"If you really want to know you can go down and check!"
The terrorists were having a full blown conversation in their native language, Mandarin.
They were so focused on their conversation, that they couldn't hear me coming, well that's good for me.
Already standing with my back pressed against the wall near the entrance.
"I wish sister Xin was here, she would have taken care of the Koreans, way quickly"
"True, her strength is unrivaled afterall"
...BANG!!!, BANG!!!, BANG!!!, BANG!!!, BANG!!!
"You guys talk too much!"
I spoke, over their corpses, with quiet anger.
"Cap?"
Dae-seong's voice brought me back from dark thoughts.
"Dae-seong!, I see you've made it here already"
"Yeah, Ho-gu is handling the floor below"
"I see"
"Damn cap, you look like a mess"
"Nahh, I've been through worse, anyways I'll leave this floor to you, while I proceed to the last floor"
"Hmm, okay"
I arrived on the last floor.
"Looks empty"
...Creek!
Someone was coming out of a room.
BANG!!!, BANG!!!
I shot at him down, as soon as I got a good view of his head.
I silently made my way towards the room the terrorist came out from.
And there I saw it.
A large silver coloured briefcase, on a table, right in the centre of the room.
Our target.
