"Okay." She says, and then turns to look at Lucas. "Princey, you won't let it be sad either, will ya?"
Lucas stares at her, and he looks at a loss for words. "Well. Um."
"Princey."
He coughs, looking around for help, and I give him a smile and a shrug. He's the one who got himself into this situation. If he doesn't know how to handle it, he's got no one to blame but himself.
It's quite amusing because normally he's quite good with children, bizarre as I sometimes find that to be.
Perhaps he also recognize this story. It certainly seemed to be headed for an unhappy ending when I quit reading it.
"Princey!" She whines, tugging at his sleeve. "Please make it happy!"
He smiles finally, and pats her on the head. "Alright then. With Gra-...Roland and I we'll definitely make sure the ending is happy."
"Good!" She chirps. "I want a happy ending!"
Lucas smiles at her, but his eyes are sad. "Me too." He murmurs. "I also want a happy ending."
