Chapter 5443 - Chapter 4472: Prelude to Darkness (18)

Bruce has already learned through the Battleworld channel that other universe Batmans are all developing magic, and each is faster and more intense than the last. This universe is already destined to face disaster, and without taking some shortcuts, he'll never catch up.

Perhaps to support the lagging universe, Primary Universe Batman has hinted to him both openly and secretly about the biggest soft target to exploit in the individual universe. Bruce naturally went with the flow and got the idea to target Mount Olympus.

So far, all Batmans who have struck Olympus have succeeded. It's indeed a fat sheep anyone can shear. However, the older Batman is more particular about being justified and having a righteous cause.

Don't worry about who caused this explosion, or why the Justice League is at Mount Olympus. The bottom line is, the members of the Justice League were around the site of an explosion capable of blowing up the entire God's Temple. Since it happened on your turf, Zeus, you must take responsibility. Currently, the human race is going through a tumultuous time and has no time to deal with you. Once Batman is free, you must contribute to the human magic defense network.

In short, it's a strategy that kills three birds with one stone. First, it solves Diana's heartache, allowing her to see her sisters again.

Then, it naturally allowed Victor to absorb the Mother Box that the Amazon Queen held. It's not easy to do with regular methods, since that's another's property and can't be obtained just because one wants it.

Although Diana took action this time, the Amazon Queen didn't lose out. After all, previous casualties had indeed been severe, dealing a huge blow to Amazon, but now the warriors have revived, elevating the Queen's prestige another notch.

Furthermore, it greatly embarrassed Hera. The Amazon Queen and Hera never got along, and this time on Mount Olympus, something big happened that made Hera look like she was as dark as a pot bottom, which pleased the Amazon Queen.

Lastly, and most importantly for Batman, it provided him a rightful excuse to storm Mount Olympus. The question is simply about avenging the Justice League, borrowing your head as reason.

Of course, there was an unexpected surprise Bruce didn't anticipate. Just as he was strategizing with Shiller for the next step, Arthur suddenly arrived, holding that cube.

Bruce walked over to greet him as Arthur directly shoved the cube into Bruce's arms. It was the first time Shiller saw the sly and calculating Batman truly scared.

Bruce was completely frozen, holding the cube but unable to neither hold onto it nor discard it, fearing any movement might cause it to explode.

Arthur, satisfied with his prank, laughed heartily, then clapped his hands and said, "I can't handle it, so it's yours."

Bruce came to his senses, carefully placed the cube on the nearby experimental table, and asked, "What's the matter?"

"Atlantis can't safeguard such a treasure," Arthur shook his head, saying, "Greed is the foremost original sin. And Atlantis can't withstand any single impact anymore. In any case, this thing in our hands is of no use and only attracts attention. Better give it to you, you handle it."

"You're quite clever, Arthur," Bruce sincerely commented.

"Can't match you, Batman. No need for Victor to come to my place, Atlantis can't withstand a blast."

This remark made Bruce realize Arthur already saw through the whole Olympus affair as a scheme, and he wasn't pleased with it. Bruce pondered for a moment, then said, "One billion."

"What?" Arthur asked, somewhat puzzled.

"In the next three years, Wayne Enterprises will invest one billion US dollars in ocean ecology protection and waste fishing. Strive to contribute to the healthy development of Earth's oceans."

Cough cough cough cough cough cough cough!! Arthur almost choked himself. This isn't normal cash strength, this is a cash strength among cash strengths. Mentioning a billion at every turn, doesn't the printing machine have to run for quite a while?

Bruce seemed completely unaware, as he said, "How this money is used is up to you, no one understands the ocean better than Aquaman. Of course, there are many professionals within the group at your disposal. If you feel it's still inadequate, I can persuade Alexander Luther. After all, Luther Group is also Coastline Group. If you'd like to flaunt some skill, the projected investment might rise to two billion."

"No no no! Enough! Enough!!" Arthur quickly waved his hand saying, "It's sufficient, having you alone is enough. At this rate, I can't guarantee I'll remain a good person unswayed by the corruption of money. In fact, I can hardly guarantee it now."

"I don't quite understand your point," Bruce shook his head saying, "Atlanteans are part of the ocean, and you are their leader. Protecting you is protecting the Sea People, and protecting the Sea People is protecting the ocean. These terms will be written into project and foundation treaties. You can fully…"

"Stop! Stop, stop, stop!" Arthur's hand was already waving shadows, his beard was sticking up, his whole being in a frazzled state. Eventually, he fled without further words.

Shiller watched his departing silhouette and smiled, then said, "You really have a knack."

"The Justice League revolves around me. I can naturally aid them in my way. I must personally deliver this to Dr. Stone. Keep an eye on the Presidential Palace."

"No worries," Shiller said, "I'll head there now."

The Presidential Palace was originally located in Washington, but because Clark didn't like it there and it was too far from the Justice League, making communication and interaction inconvenient, he simply went back to his old ways and physically moved the Presidential Palace to Metropolis.

Now, the White House and Wayne building face each other from a distance and are just a ten-minute drive from the Justice Hall. Its security is indeed far worse than Washington, but the President doesn't really need security anymore.

This actually made it convenient for Shiller, who was in the Batcave with Batman planning, and could soon go to work at the Presidential Palace without missing a beat.

Back at the Presidential Palace, Clark was still diligently working. Shiller handed over some documents and said, "The surveillance team found that people have recently returned to Dr. Erdel's laboratory in Colorado State. Looks like they were retrieving equipment."

"Didn't catch them?"

"Held back, letting the line out to catch bigger fish. The agents reported that the group is heading for the East Coast. This proves Dr. Erdel should be not far from us."

"We need to find him quickly, or who knows when it will explode," Clark said, somewhat worried. "Can Dr. Erdel's equipment observe Mars?"

"It could before."

"And now..."

"It's normal for outdated equipment to stop working," Shiller said, "Besides, Dr. Erdel destroyed much of the documentation before his death. The Aerospace Bureau has suffered significant disruptions in this area. Restoring the machines is unlikely, but they might still try."

"Keep an eye on the Aerospace Bureau and all production lines capable of manufacturing usable parts; they should reveal their weak points."

"This is good news for us," Shiller continued, "They still need equipment rather than directly releasing information and stirring public opinion, proving they feel their evidence is insufficient or not detailed enough."

"Perhaps only Dr. Erdel thinks so," Clark said, "After all, we really caught a batch of fakes. Experts from various fields have researched it. Barry's parents have long been dead, yet now there are two people who look exactly like them. This is ironclad evidence of Mars people's existence. Dr. Erdel, as an insider, would trust these scientists' conclusions more than others, thus he might want to investigate further."

"I think there's another reason," Shiller said, "Perhaps, his research suggests that the current situation is indeed real."

Clark squinted his eyes as Shiller further explained, "Do you remember Colonel Jones? When did you first realize he was a Mars person?"

Clark was taken aback and then suddenly realized, saying, "So Mars people really have the ability to disguise themselves? It's not something you made up?!"

"This is the brilliance of Bruce. His fabricated falsehood is nine-tenths fake, but it's that one-tenth truth that makes it irrefutable. Mars people can indeed disguise themselves to look exactly like humans."

Shiller took a breath and continued, "I don't know much about Mars people, but I've heard they're not simply disguised; they undergo molecular restructuring. In other words, if they transform into humans, their molecular composition is that of humans. Anyone coming upon them wouldn't realize it."

"No wonder I couldn't tell," Clark said.

"Dr. Erdel, who had close encounters with Mars people, surely knows of their abilities. Ron must have told him, perhaps even demonstrated them. So even though he knows Mars people went extinct, he can't guarantee other Mars people haven't arrived on Earth like Ron. He can't confirm if they exist or their number. Thus, his assessment of the current situation is surely conservative."

Clark nodded, feeling Shiller's point was valid. If Dr. Erdel still retained his scientific level and mindset from before, he wouldn't assert the current events are entirely false, only feel time has changed and circumstances have altered.

"However, the people behind his revival won't think that way. Whether it's those who revived him or took him, their goal is to overturn the current order."

"The issue of Mars people invasion heightened vigilance towards the revived, which clearly isn't what that so-called God of Death wants. As long as the lie holds, it greatly benefits him. And those rebellious opposition surely wish to use this to bring Clark down."

"Therefore, they rushed to the laboratory to retrieve the original equipment, forcing Dr. Erdel to research again, hoping he can provide more solid evidence to prove Mars people have gone extinct and that Mars people invasion is utterly false."

"It's not that they don't want to fabricate. The problem is, the entire global professional community has already confirmed Barry's parents are dead, and this revived pair is fake; this is heavyweight evidence. Dr. Erdel, alone, doesn't have enough weight, nor do his previous research results. They must acquire more precise evidence to flip the situation."

"Waiting like this isn't an option either." Clark considered and then looked at Shiller, saying, "Aren't you best at fishing? Think of a way to cast the rod and reel them all in."

Shiller looked at him with a smile: "Yes, Mr. President."
