Chapter 5442 - Chapter 4471: Prelude to Darkness (17)

"Victor resurrected Hal, not through any other means, but with the Mother Box. And this Mother Box, it's not found elsewhere; doesn't Amazon have one?" Shiller asked.

Diana was taken aback. She just realized: the Savage Wolf went to Amazon to find this thing before, but the Amazons didn't call that cube a Mother Box and thought it was just one of the Queen's collectibles, so Diana didn't think of it at the time.

"But... but I don't know how to use it," Diana said, "That thing probably can't just be used by anyone, right?"

"That's true; I actually don't know how to use it either. But I can help you investigate. After all, Hal was resurrected on the beach at that time, where there were a lot of people, and someone must have noticed something."

"Thank you so much," Diana said, "Although seeking your help will surely aggravate the Curse of the Pharaoh on me. But as long as it works, I'd even go to the Pyramid to sweep the Pharaoh's tomb!"

Shiller chuckled and said, "That's not necessary. Await good news, miss."

Shiller acted quickly; he sent the information to Diana in less than two hours. Diana glanced at it and found it was actually from the Luther Group, not during the fight against the Savage Wolf, but a subsequent report on underground heating pipe repairs.

Diana thought for a moment; Shiller wasn't shooting in the dark. Since he agreed, there's no need to fool around, and this report must have something off. Sure enough, in the column of damage reasons, it was written "superpower hazards."

Metropolis hadn't been peaceful recently, and companies and factories had added new entries to some accident reports: superpower hazards. While most of these were used for clearing accounts, becoming entries under "Fire Dragon Burned Warehouse," the Luther Group's report was different because the accident report also included a photo.

The photo showed the breakage of the heating pipe was very neat. It was cut by some device, but this pipe was not simple; such a neat cut couldn't be made by ordinary engineering tools. Moreover, the camera also captured Victor's figure, which was incontrovertible evidence.

This proved that Victor had utilized the underwater heating pipeline to resurrect Hal. So, the answer was quite apparent that only a massive thermal impact could activate the Mother Box.

Diana had an idea and immediately rushed back to Amazon, skipping the Christmas Eve banquet. While the rest of the Justice League was eating, drinking, and chatting, Diana traveled overnight to steal the Mother Box.

The Amazon Queen valued this thing greatly, but Diana was her daughter, after all. Defending against outsiders day and night is easy; a home thief is hard to guard against. Having the ability to freely access the Queen's treasury since childhood, Diana took the Mother Box without much effort.

Regarding heat energy, Diana naturally thought of the Fire God, with whom she had a good relationship. So, she headed towards the Fire God Hall.

However, she dared not use Amazon's teleportation portal, as only the Queen could open it. Diana couldn't explain why she must go to Mount Olympus. After all, she didn't get along well with those gods and skipping the Justice League's Christmas banquet to head to Mount Olympus was too suspicious.

So, Diana went to Greece. There was another teleportation portal by the temple in Greece, and she wanted to go through it. But it wasn't as simple as opening it as she found out upon reaching Greece; the temple's guard had gone home for Christmas.

Diana couldn't help but hold her forehead: Modern Greece was indeed different from Ancient Greece, but wasn't it absurd to have a Christian guard a temple? Didn't Zeus mind?

Without the key in the guard's possession, Diana couldn't open the portal. She thought about looking for the guard, but he went to England with his wife for the holidays. No one here had his wife's address, making it a wild goose chase.

Diana thought about it, thinking she'd better call Shiller: wasn't England his homeland? Finding someone shouldn't be difficult, right?

Just as she was about to make the call, she stopped: what if Bruce was eavesdropping on her calls? In that case, she'd need to use a public phone, but if Shiller's side was bugged too, it wouldn't matter which phone she switched to.

Since she already had the item in hand, waiting a while longer wouldn't hurt. Diana simply flew back to Metropolis, found Shiller in person, and asked him to help find someone.

Shiller agreed but said it would take some time. So, Diana went home to wait. Unexpectedly, upon returning home, she saw Steve.

Diana thought she was too tired and hallucinating, but there was the long-lost Steve, alive in front of her. Diana truly felt on the verge of a breakdown.

She wanted to question Steve about what was happening, but another call came from Shiller. Having no other options left, she knocked Steve unconscious with a punch and carried him to the Fire God Hall. Herd one sheep, herd two sheep all the same. Since Steve could also be resurrected, a baptism of Mother Box energy wouldn't hurt. Perhaps it could even extend the Resurrection Card's duration.

As Steve was transported to the Fire God Hall, and the Mother Box was placed there, Diana went back to steal the corpses. Initially, she didn't take them away because there were guards in the cemetery, and Diana feared alerting them.

Now that she's going back, the Queen must have already discovered the Mother Box theft, and would surely summon the guards, causing chaos across the Amazon. No one would pay attention to the cemetery's situation anymore, and it would be easier for Diana to act.

So she took the bodies again, flew to Greece, and returned to the Fire God Hall. Then she activated the Mother Box, preparing for a mass resurrection. Just as the Mother Box's energy was activated, Victor and others arrived.

Diana's method of activating the Mother Box was clearly wrong. Dr. Stone had adjusted the Mother Box used to revive Victor. Although he couldn't change the underlying code, some operating modes could be modified. This took Dr. Stone several years. Diana couldn't just directly activate an original version of it.

But perhaps it was precisely because Victor had arrived, and although the Mother Box seemed like three, there was actually only one. The resonant frequencies of the one Diana had and the one in Victor's body were synchronized, resulting in a burst of power that truly resurrected the Amazonian woman warriors and Steve.

Victor's mind worked quickly, and he directly harnessed the newly absorbed power, opened the Sonic Channel, and sent everyone back to the Amazon, leaving no proof of death. Hal's mind wasn't slow either; he immediately attributed the chaos to Mount Olympus.

Zeus and Hera were baffled. We were sitting peacefully in our Temple, and suddenly were told the Fire God Hall exploded. Then you say this was a trap set by us to kill the Justice League, so may I ask?

Zeus and Hera were unaware of what had happened before, but the Amazon Queen knew. To be honest, it did look like a trap.

Because whether it was Diana supposedly stealing the Mother Box, or the Amazon Queen bringing them there, or the sudden arrival of Zeus and Hera—they were all considered part of the Olympus faction.

Thus, the situation seemed very much like Diana lured the people in, the Amazon Queen brought them in, and the Divine King and Heavenly Queen couple set the trap to wipe everyone out here.

However, it was merely a scapegoating. After all, Olympus and the Justice League had no grudges. If anything, Diana taking the entire Golden Apple Garden away was somewhat shady. But they truly didn't know where Diana took the Golden Apple Garden. Even if taking a step back, it's a conflict between Olympus and the Amazon, not involving the Justice League.

Hal and Victor argued with reason and had a lengthy debate with them. Finally, they left with a harsh statement: If Mount Olympus dared to cause trouble again, Batman would surely visit.

But in fact, regardless of whether Olympus caused trouble or not, Batman was going to visit anyway. Or rather, he designed such a chain strategy precisely to achieve this effect.

That's right. From the moment Diana started venting, everything was already Bruce's plan.

He first pretended to firmly refuse. This was actually to anger Diana, making her develop a sense of injustice like "How come Hal can be resurrected, but my sisters can't," and it also closed off the possibility for her to seek out Victor.

The righteous path was blocked, so naturally, one would consider the crooked path. At present, the master of the crooked path in this cosmos was Shiller.

Next, Shiller, with a soothing approach, suggested that Diana could entirely steal the Mother Box from the Amazon Queen, and even thoughtfully attached usage instructions.

The key issue was with these usage instructions. The Mother Box needed a large amount of thermal energy to activate. However, Diana, not being a scientist, didn't know where to find human-made engineering equipment with immense heat sources. Even if there were prior cases with underwater pipelines, those things needed specific coordinates, which she definitely couldn't find. Natural heat sources like volcanoes were not impactful and inconvenient to operate. So her choice was only one, which was the Fire God Hall.

The plan, designed up to this point, actually reached a dead end. Because Bruce wasn't the kind to risk Diana's life, and he truly couldn't control the Mother Box. Letting Diana handle the Mother Box could likely result in both the Justice League and Olympus being severely injured. Bruce didn't like this.

But Shiller provided him with another approach. Since Bruce didn't know enough about the Mother Box and feared losing control, why not find an expert?

The person they consulted was none other than Victor's father, Dr. Stone. Dr. Stone agreed to work with them but had conditions. Or rather, the condition was a necessary one for continuing the plan—to have Victor approach Diana.

The Mother Box in Diana's hand couldn't be tuned. Even as formidable as Dr. Stone was, he couldn't remotely control it. But he could control the one on Victor. As long as he could have contact with Victor, he could use signal tuning to set the Mother Box to absorb mode. Dr. Stone's plan was to have Bruce and the Justice League help Victor absorb all aspects of the Mother Box.

Thus, the two sides quickly formed an alliance. Dr. Stone intentionally took leave and didn't go home, while Bruce guided Victor to find his father, allowing Dr. Stone to approach Victor and adjust the frequencies. Then, when Victor arrived at Diana's place, he directly absorbed the other side of the Mother Box that was having an energy outburst.

At the same time, because many members of the Justice League were present, coincidentally during the Mother Box energy explosion, Hal immediately put the blame on them. Although they couldn't do anything to them now, when Bruce wanted to borrow something from Mount Olympus, this would be the best excuse.
