"Get out of the way! Hulk's got this!" After realizing that the Kryptonian beneath his feet had been completely merged with the soil, Hulk excitedly shouted to Morbius and the others before launching himself towards the Kryptonian they were battling.
Seeing Hulk approach, Morbius and his team quickly withdrew from the battlefield. They were on the brink of exhaustion—Pietro and Barry Allen were in slightly better shape, merely fatigued, but Morbius was covered in wounds. Despite his vampire healing abilities, he was struggling to stay on his feet, and many of his injuries showed no signs of healing.
Morbius, being stronger than Pietro and Barry, had taken on more of the burden in their fight. After all, Pietro and Barry relied purely on speed. If they were hit by the Kryptonian even a couple of times, they would likely be incapacitated or worse. Given this, Morbius had borne the brunt of the attacks.
"Thud!" But just as Morbius coughed up blood and prepared to rest, a massive figure was sent flying towards them, startling the trio. If Pietro hadn't reacted quickly to pull Morbius out of the way, he would have been crushed by the figure.
The massive figure, of course, was none other than Hulk, who had charged in with confidence only to be kicked back.
"You made Hulk angry!" Feeling the awkward stares from Morbius, Pietro, and Barry, Hulk couldn't help but feel embarrassed. He shouted angrily at the Kryptonian and charged back into the fight.
In truth, Hulk's strength was on par with the Kryptonian's, but Hulk was initially unaccustomed to the Kryptonian's combat style. The Kryptonian had the advantage in combat techniques, which stemmed from their genetically engineered prowess in battle. These Kryptonians were bred for war, and their combat skills were naturally superior. If not for this, they wouldn't have become General Zod's soldiers, leading a rebellion against Krypton years ago.
"Thud!" However, the advantage in combat technique has its limits, especially as Hulk's anger grew, increasing his size, strength, and speed. The Kryptonian found himself increasingly pressured and could no longer easily kick Hulk away as before.
"So, how are we holding up?" Seeing that Hulk was no longer being overpowered, Barry Allen sighed in relief and turned to ask Pietro and Morbius.
"Holding up? I'm barely standing here! That Kryptonian was too strong—I couldn't even tap into his blood..." Morbius, his pale complexion even paler, shook his head weakly. He glanced at his injuries, then at the other battlefields, and finally at Bruce Banner's struggle. With a resigned sigh, he added, "They're barely holding on too. But why is there such a big difference between those two? They look almost identical, yet their strength is worlds apart."
"According to Tony and the others, it's likely that when Hulk was created, he took the part of the ability that would have belonged to Banner. Or rather, it was always Hulk's to begin with. Even if he hadn't taken it, Banner wouldn't have been able to use it…" Morbius explained as he observed the fight between Venom Peter Parker and the Kryptonian.
"Although Peter Parker seems to be using a similar power to Hulk and is doing well with it, that might be because Venom is utilizing it. Maybe humans with higher intelligence aren't suited for such power?"
"…" Pietro and Barry Allen were left speechless by the comment about intelligent humans, unsure how to respond.
"Is that another Kryptonian? She's incredibly strong. If she keeps slaughtering like this, we could have a problem…" Meanwhile, Supergiant, observing the battlefield from the shadows, frowned as she watched Kara decimate the Chitauri forces. A look of concern flashed in her eyes.
Kara's strength exceeded Supergiant's expectations, especially since her main goal was to protect Loki as he continued to use the Space Stone. Supergiant was hesitant about whether or not to intervene.
But as Kara killed more and more Chitauri, Supergiant grew restless. The Chitauri were cosmic pirates, mostly modified beings whose strength came from their numbers rather than individual power. But even they couldn't be slaughtered so easily.
"Hmm? They've deployed the Leviathan warships?" Just as Supergiant was considering her options, massive ships resembling armored whales or sharks appeared in the sky.
These Leviathan warships were the Chitauri's primary weapons for conquering planets and pillaging across the universe. They were not only formidable in battle but also capable of transporting large numbers of troops.
"Thud!" However, just as Supergiant breathed a sigh of relief at the appearance of the Leviathan warships, Kara flew through one of them, causing it to explode violently and crash to the ground, crushing countless Chitauri beneath it.
As for the humans, they had either escaped or died long ago, leaving no one for the falling Leviathan to harm.
"This doesn't look good. Maybe I should try to intervene?" Supergiant's expression changed as she watched the Leviathan crash. After a moment of hesitation, she finally decided to act.
"Buzz!" An invisible force shot out, targeting Kara as she fought.
"Huh?!" Kara suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head, nearly causing her to fall from the sky. Her mind turned to mush, leaving her momentarily stunned.
Yes, Supergiant possessed abilities similar to those of the Martian Manhunter, or at least part of them. Like Zod and Regan before her, Kara was now experiencing the difficulty of dealing with a psychic.
"Zap!"
"Zap!"
"Zap!"
Seeing Kara dazed, the Chitauri seized the opportunity, firing their laser weapons at her, hoping to kill her while she was vulnerable.
"Clink!"
But unfortunately for them, their lasers couldn't penetrate Kara's steel-like body. Instead, the barrage of attacks jolted Kara back to consciousness.
"Is this… a psychic attack? Who's behind this? Hmm… found you!" Once she recovered, Kara didn't attack the Chitauri. Instead, she scanned the area until she spotted Supergiant and Loki.
"The Space Stone? So that's what's going on!" Kara's eyes lit up as she realized the situation. In an instant, she vanished from sight.
Supergiant's face paled as she instinctively tried to use her psychic powers to stop Kara, but she couldn't keep up with Kara's speed, let alone pinpoint her location.
In theory, psychic powers could be used at the speed of thought. But Kara was faster than Supergiant's thoughts, making it impossible for her to target Kara.
"Thud!" As Supergiant failed to use her powers and was about to search for Kara, she felt a heavy blow to her chest, sending her flying through a building, disappearing from sight.
"Are you the one using the Space Stone to open that portal?" Kara asked, her voice cold as she looked at Loki, who stood motionless.
Previously, Kara hadn't noticed Loki's presence because the connection between the Space Stone and the portal wasn't physically apparent. So she hadn't linked the portal directly to Loki.
Moreover, Kara had seen similar portals before. Given that her priority was dealing with the Chitauri, she hadn't thought much about it until she saw the Space Stone in Loki's hand and recalled her past encounters with it, confirming his involvement.
"Thud!" Kara's question was met with silence from Loki. Annoyed, she punched him, sending him flying and causing the Space Stone to drop to the ground.
"Clang!"
"Hmm? It didn't stop? The Space Stone is still glowing?" Kara noticed that despite Loki's absence, the portal in the sky remained open, and the Space Stone continued to emit its blue light. Confused, she aimed her heat vision at the Space Stone.
"Shh!" The Space Stone's outer surface glowed with a blue light that absorbed Kara's heat vision, neutralizing it. Kara felt as though her attack was being absorbed into the stone, having no effect.
Realizing that the Chitauri were still pouring through the portal and wreaking havoc, Kara knew she couldn't waste more time. Gritting her teeth, she stopped her attack, disappeared from sight, and rejoined the fight against the Chitauri.
This time, Kara wasn't alone. As time passed, Tony Stark's Iron Legion arrived to help fend off the invasion. Additionally, Mera, who had promised Robert, led the Atlanteans to join the battle against the Chitauri.
Kara didn't recognize the Atlanteans but seeing that they were also fighting the Chitauri, she felt somewhat relieved. Having reinforcements was much better than fighting alone.
"Whoosh!" As Kara rejoined the fight, Robert appeared in America, but he didn't immediately head to the battlefield. Instead, he noticed that the other part of the ship containing the World Engine seemed to be doing something new.
Robert flew directly to the World Engine, causing the officials who had been approaching it to halt.
When the first World Engine was destroyed, this one also stopped emitting energy, prompting some government agencies to see an opportunity for profit. They began to make moves, but when they arrived, the World Engine started showing signs of activity again, making them hesitate until Robert arrived, causing them to freeze in their tracks.
Robert stood below the World Engine, knowing he couldn't unleash a powerful energy wave here like he did in the ocean. Although the city was already in ruins, he didn't want to cause even more destruction by triggering an earthquake that could devastate the surrounding areas.
"Thud!" Robert kicked the World Engine's base,
dislodging its three legs from the ground. The nanobots tried to stop him, but they couldn't get close enough, and they were flung away along with the World Engine.
"Boom!" Shortly after, Robert's energy wave exploded in the sky, obliterating the World Engine and the nanobots, reducing them to nothing.
"Gulp!" The officials, who had witnessed Robert kick the World Engine into the sky, swallowed hard and quickly retreated, not daring to linger. They feared that if Robert found them, he might kick them too, leaving nothing of them behind.
"Heh, useless cowards who can only fight among themselves!" Robert noticed the officials but had more pressing matters to attend to and ignored them…
