With a swift movement, Robert vanished from the battlefield, reappearing amidst the clash between the Avengers and the Kryptonians. He chose not to engage the invading Chitauri. In Robert's eyes, the Chitauri were far less of a threat compared to the Kryptonians. The Chitauri's numbers might be vast—surpassing even the Spider-Man incident and the vampire-werewolf event—but they still weren't a significant crisis.
Even considering the weapons the Chitauri possessed, they couldn't match up to Spider-Man or even ordinary vampires and werewolves. The Leviathan warship seemed somewhat formidable, but its strength was mostly due to its size and ability to fly rather than its combat capabilities.
The situation with the Kryptonians, however, was different. Several Avengers had already lost their ability to fight, and the Kryptonians, with their endurance and strength, were a persistent threat. The Avengers were struggling to hold their ground.
Despite Robert having trained the Avengers for prolonged combat, facing enemies stronger than themselves under such intense pressure made the situation much harder. The difficulty was exponentially increased, making it nearly impossible for the Avengers to keep up.
Robert had already sensed that if he didn't intervene soon, the Avengers were going to suffer casualties.
With a loud crash, Robert appeared on the battlefield where Bruce Banner and a group of vampires and werewolves were fighting. As soon as he arrived, he sent a Kryptonian flying with a powerful kick.
This Kryptonian had been holding his own against the vampires, werewolves, and even the Hulk, without suffering any significant injuries. But Robert's kick left him in immense pain, struggling to get back on his feet.
"Who are you?!" the Kryptonian shouted, fearful that Robert would strike again. He had felt a similar dread before, but only when facing Thanos.
However, to the Kryptonian's surprise, Robert didn't pursue him after the kick. Instead, he remained by Bruce Banner's side, not even sparing the Kryptonian a glance.
"Finally, you're here. I'm done for!" Banner, seeing Robert's arrival, collapsed onto the ground, reverting from the Hulk back to his human form. He looked as though he was handing over the responsibility to Robert.
Banner didn't know exactly how strong Robert was, despite having been in the Avengers for some time. Their interactions had been limited. However, even with little contact, Banner knew that Robert was an absolute powerhouse in the Avengers. Robert had previously crushed Venom and Hulk with ease, and now, with a single kick, he had sent the Kryptonian, whom they had struggled against for so long, flying. This display of power made Banner completely give up, though his exhaustion and injuries were also significant factors.
Banner had pushed himself to the limit during this battle, driven by a newfound sense of camaraderie. Even though the werewolves and Blade weren't normal humans, Banner couldn't bear to watch them die in front of him, so he had taken on as much of the burden as possible.
Just as Banner was about to give in completely, Robert placed his hand on Banner's body. Immediately, Banner felt warmth spread through him, and all his fatigue and injuries vanished.
Except for some mental exhaustion, Banner felt even better than he had before the battle began. He looked at Robert in confusion, not understanding what had just happened.
Robert, however, didn't pay any attention to Banner's reaction. His figure flickered across the battlefield, passing by the vampires and werewolves, healing them one by one. These creatures, who had been clinging to life by sheer willpower, were restored in an instant.
There was no need to worry about Moon Knight, though. He looked like he had died several times already. The prolonged battle had taken its toll on him, even though he had been down for a while. The Kryptonians had killed him several times, each time to shield Blade from taking the brunt of their attacks.
"Although your wounds are healed, don't think about resting yet. See that space portal in the sky? There are still plenty of enemies waiting for you there," Robert said with a smile after healing Blade, addressing the group who looked at him in bewilderment.
"What?!" At that moment, not only did Banner express disbelief, but even the battle-hardened werewolves were left speechless.
They had just survived a battle they couldn't possibly win, and now they were being sent to face the mysterious enemies emerging from the space portal. The thought filled them with dread.
Even though Robert had demonstrated his formidable combat and healing abilities, the mental exhaustion they felt was not so easily dispelled. The immense pressure they were under made them reluctant to face more powerful enemies.
"Don't worry, the fight over there won't be stressful for you. It'll be more like a way to release the tension you've built up," Robert reassured them with a smile, shaking his head. "Their individual strength is very weak; there are just a lot of them. Think of it as clearing out small enemies to relax a bit."
"How dare you ignore me like this?!" The Kryptonian, who had been kicked away and initially cautious, could no longer hold back his anger. Seeing that Robert hadn't paid him any attention and had even healed the Avengers, he realized that he couldn't let Robert continue unchallenged.
Even though Robert's power intimidated him, the Kryptonian knew he had to either restrain or kill Robert. In a chaotic battle like this, allowing someone with healing abilities to run free would drastically reduce the Kryptonians' chances of victory.
"Always kill the healer first in a team fight!" With this thought, the Kryptonian charged at Robert with unprecedented speed, intent on delivering a fatal blow.
"Shit!" Banner sensed a terrifying aura approaching and instantly transformed back into the Hulk. But even in his Hulk form, he felt an overwhelming pressure. The presence of Robert didn't alleviate this; it was a primal fear for his life.
Just as quickly as Banner's fear had arrived, it disappeared. The Kryptonian who had rushed at Robert was sent flying again, even faster than before. This time, the Kryptonian felt as though parts of his body had shattered.
"Alright, you guys head over there. I'll help the others first and send them to assist you," Robert said, waving his hand at the stunned Banner and the others before disappearing and reappearing next to Johnny Storm.
"You're finally here! Hurry, heal me up so I can go fight him for another three hundred rounds!" Johnny Storm's eyes lit up when he saw Robert. He had been resting for a while, but not enough to get back into the action, and he was eager to continue the fight.
"There's a fight, but it's not with them. Head over to that space portal and start blasting, but remember not to cross the portal," Robert said as he healed Johnny.
"Why?" Johnny, who had just ignited his flames and was ready to fly over, stopped in his tracks and looked at Robert hesitantly. "Is it dangerous on the other side? Wouldn't cutting off the source end this faster?"
"The other side is space. If you think you can survive in space or that your flames can burn there, go ahead," Robert shrugged, not stopping Johnny's reckless behavior, but instead, encouraged him with a smile.
"Ahem, never mind. I'll go help Banner and the others. Just make sure to save my sister and the rest!" Johnny coughed awkwardly, his smile stiffening as he quickly turned into a blaze and flew off, leaving behind a final remark. "And that winged guy is one of us too—don't forget him…"
"Winged guy?" Robert blinked. He wasn't familiar with Carter Hall, even less so than with Banner. But after Johnny's reminder, Robert made sure not to forget.
Soon, Carter Hall, Susan Storm, and Lorna were also healed by Robert. He then proceeded to heal Pietro, Barry Allen, and Morbius. Meanwhile, the Kryptonian who had shattered an arm and part of a shoulder didn't dare to approach Robert again, realizing that this healer was far more terrifying than he had imagined.
Enduring his pain and injuries, the Kryptonian flew up, surveying the battlefield. He hesitated between helping General Zod and Diana, knowing that their strengths were comparable to Robert's and that joining them might be suicidal. He decided instead to assist the Martian Manhunter, who was battling Reagan.
The Kryptonian realized that with Robert's involvement, their chances of victory had plummeted. He needed to find a way to turn the tide, or else they would be doomed.
In the sky, the Martian Manhunter was fighting Reagan in a similar manner to how he had dealt with General Zod. He used his psychic powers to suppress Reagan, striking with his heat vision whenever Reagan began to recover, trapping him in a relentless cycle.
This strategy was highly effective, exploiting a significant weakness. The Martian Manhunter's psychic powers far surpassed those of Supergiant, so he had no trouble keeping up with Reagan's speed. If not for Reagan's own formidable strength and the Kryptonian's resilient body, which was increasingly resistant to psychic attacks, Reagan would have been torn apart by now.
It was this situation that drew the injured Kryptonian to aid Reagan, partly because Reagan was stronger.
A burst of heat vision interrupted the Martian Manhunter's combo, giving Reagan a moment to breathe.
"Damn it! You sneaky bastard!" Reagan cursed the Martian Manhunter, now understanding why General Zod had been so frustrated earlier. The fight was incredibly stifling, even more so than what Zod had experienced. Zod had been under constant psychic control, while Reagan had to endure the Martian Manhunter's heat vision bombardments as well.
"We're enemies; it doesn't matter what tactics I
use. Against invaders like you, anything goes!" The Martian Manhunter shrugged, noticing the bloodied Kryptonian flying towards him. "It seems you're really running out of people. Is he still fit to fight?"
"Hmm?" Reagan, just regaining control, hadn't noticed his ally's condition. Hearing the Martian Manhunter, he turned and his expression darkened.
"Focus on him! Don't waste time!" The injured Kryptonian, sensing Reagan's intention to ask questions, urged him on anxiously.
"Don't worry, he's not coming after you. He's headed toward your general," the Martian Manhunter said with a faint smile, noticing the Kryptonian's anxiety.
At the same time, General Zod, engaged in battle with Diana, sensed an impending threat, causing him to retreat swiftly.
