Chapter 46 - Training

Hearing him, David could see some look of horror form on their faces but could only smile. At the same time, the same thoughts that plagued Scott began to appear in their minds. "If you were that powerful, why don't you rescue them yourself?"

It was a valid question but as usual it was one that only made sense from the human standpoint. When things went beyond that, it would make perfect sense as to why he shouldn't be interfering. This also meant that there was no credible way to explain it.

"Are there any problems with this arrangement?" David asked, acting as though he couldn't hear what they were thinking

"Just because he is powerful doesn't mean that he should be in charge of our training" Sunfire said

"That is an excellent point that will be addressed later. Any other issues?"

"Is this all we need to do here?" Lorna asked

"Yes, for now, your battle suits would be sent to your rooms so please return to your rooms, if you are needed you will be informed" David explained.

He didn't care about their opinions in this matter, even Charles was unable to talk him out of it so who were they that he would consider it. Realizing that there was no room for negotiation here, they all followed his order and returned to their rooms.

Meanwhile David stayed behind as he began preparing their suits, he could do with a snap of his fingers but there was a certain joy in creating it manually.

A day later,

David was standing in front of the newly clothed team, each one was wearing their uniform… Well to be more specific each chose their style of clothing to match the general esthetic of the uniform.

"Welcome to the Danger Room, a lot of care went into building this place just for the purpose of training Mutants on how to defend themselves using their gifts, today I would be doing just that" David explained as he paced back and forth before them.

"Come on bub, this is pointless" David heard a very familiar voice say as he saw an animal jumping at him.

Utilizing his powers, he immediately stopped him in the air and snapped his fingers, immediately after they all watched as Wolverine exploded into pieces.

"Stupid remarks and actions would let you experience death but you are lucky, I have set up an immortality domain within the confines of this room… you may come back to life but you will feel the pain and trust me, it is not enjoyable even for masochists" David said.

Even as he spoke, they watched as Wolverine's pieces gathered and melded together to recreate an exact replica of him. It was as though time was being rewound as He was put together again, his screams and grunts filled the room but they could do nothing but watch in horror.

"For the next seven days, your training would be to the death, so I hope you all learn to cooperate as quickly as possible"

"What do you mean… to the death?" Lorna asked

"Exactly as it means, if a fight occurs and the enemy gets in a hit, you could die. It is only fair after all, this isn't some game" A new voice said as the field leader of the team joined.

"That isn't what I signed up for," Proudstar said but David didn't care.

"I would advise you all to listen to Scott during the training and accept him as your field leader, it would be quicker on you" David said before giving Scott a nod who in turn replied with one.

Despite their hostility towards each other, each one understood the circumstances around the other. For David, he was bound by unseen forces beyond them all, Scott wanted to redeem himself from his supposed abandonment of his teammates.

"Main objective?" Scott asked

"Develop a working team relationship, I will be picking out some missions for you to complete, if you all can accomplish it then I may even grant you one wish if it's within my power of course" David said with a smile.

Hearing this, Scott immediately stopped smiling as he turned to David, as someone who had experienced the man's training method multiple times in the past, he knew what such statements meant.

"Okay, I'll leave you all to yourself, the simulation begins in 30 minutes" David said before teleporting out of the room.
