Zarqa fetched a rock and held it over the edge of the well before letting go. It ricocheted off the walls a couple of times before completely fading away. Zarqa leaned down, ears strained. A couple of minutes passed without her hearing anything.
" Just how deep does this thing go?" Ali Baba asked, having also failed to detect any noise from the inside.
Zarqa shrugged her shoulders. " We'll have to see for ourselves."
That didn't put Ali Baba at ease at all. He frowned as he returned his gaze to the well. It was cavernously deep. " Can't you see anything?"
Zarqa squinted, but then shook her head. " It's too dark, even I can't see anything in there."
Ali Baba sighed as he pulled away from the well's edge and looked back at Sindbad. " Are we sure this is the right well? I'd hate to discover we've gotten the wrong one after climbing all the way down."
