Chapter 288 - Follow The Wind

They backed off and sat down at the edge of the circle of light, unblinking, almost unbreathing. They had to keep absolute silence.

 

What they had done was that they had announced their presence to the unseen entities dwelling at the bottom of the well and were asking for an audience with them. And they had to wait for one of those entities to answer them and accept the meeting.

 

There was no telling how long that would take, Shula had said, thus the other candle stashed in her satchel.

 

It was hard to come against those candles in the markets they had visited, and they only managed to get two of them.

 

Zarqa hoped it would be enough.

 

Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, she didn't have to worry about that. Soon, the red flame shifted to blue, and the candle began to burn faster than normal, reduced to a stub in the span of a few minutes.

 

The circle of light receded back, leaving the faintest hint of movement in the shadows.
