Chapter 200 - Power and Magic

"What is happening to me?!" Ekko, Boy Pulled Across Dimensions

Hey! Pls.... memes, comments, gifs?

Chapter 200! Damn it is kind of crazy that I've gotten this far. This is now in the upper half of fics in this website, the ones that aren't translated anyway. Originally I had meant to end this by 200 chapters but it didn't work out. With how much of the story is left I guess it will have another 100 chapters.

Hope I did the character interactions better this chapter. Can't really have people talk over each other in a written format unlike a show. And hope the characters feel like how they are supposed to feel.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another set of footsteps rang out. Smaller, more hurried ones.

Isha appeared next to Jinx trying to lift her up, seemingly unaffected by the pressure pulling everyone else to the ground.

"How are you-" Jinx noticed her state.

But Isha did not reply instead she kept tugging at Jinx trying to raise her up.

"Ah! Its a temple! Tooooo-" The voice spoke once more garnering the attention of everyone in the space.

They turned their heads in the direction and out of the fog walked out a man holding a grotesque weapon with an eye, a spear.... that seemed living?

"You...." Sevika pushed out.

The eye spun toward her, "Know this woman Gregori?"

"The children live at her place." He answered as he sighed.

Jinx glared at him, "You aren't dead!" She pointed out.

Gregori nodded.

Caitlin recognized him, "You... at the bathysphere..." She frowned, "Why are you-"

"Get down from there." Gregori said without much fanfare.

Nothing happened.

Gregori's voice hardened, "Do you want to be brought down?"

"He doesn't listen does he?" A voice sounded from his spear.

Gregori's eyes landed on the spear, "And whose fault is that?"

"Hey! I barely raised him!" The spear answered.

Gregori then grunted and looked up, "Come down. I will not say it again."

The five on the ground didn't understand what he was talking about and then out of the corner of their eye they saw him.

A boy.

Slowly dropping down, dangling from a line of thread.

"Why aren't you with your siblings?" Gregori asked.

Sydell stuffed his hands in his pockets, "Well.... the Noxian wasn't with the other two so I figured that she would be following them." He gestured toward Vi and Caitlin and then he pointed to Jinx, Sevika and Isha, "And they were planning an ambush.... so I just wanted to observe everything."

"You have the Orb for that." Gregori replied, squinting at his son.

Sydell sighed, "Well since I can only place two.... I placed one of the enforcer group and one on..."

"Me." Gregori answered. "Did you think I couldn't sense it? What I am asking is why not change one from the enforcer group to these lot?"

"Ah well...." Sydell shrugged, "I thought I could follow them myself. They didn't even know I was there!" He tried to explain. "Ask them!"

"I don't need to ask them." Gregori answered, "I know that they didn't see you. What I care for is that I had given you all a clear order. Stay together and stay safe."

"I'm sorry." Sydell looked down but he spoke with a clear voice, "Will not happen again."

"Sorry to interrupt this father-son bonding moment but look at this!" His weapon spoke, "Look at their weapons! Gregori bring one to me."

Gregori raised his hand and Caitlin's sniper rifle flew into his hands.

"It... it flew.." Caitlin whispered in shock.

The weapon's eye landed on her, sending a chill through her, "Haven't heard of magic lass?"

Caitlin's eyes went wide.

"Magic?" Vi asked. "Like in the stories?"

"Those stories aren't real." Jinx snarked from the side.

"Depends on which story." Sydell answered.

Gregori's attention turned to him.

Sydell dropped his head again, "Sorry." He squeaked out.

"It seems like a combination of runic magic and whatever this is....." The weapon wondered.

"Hextech." Gregori explained, "They have managed to combine magic and their technology."

The weapon's eye looked over every weapon in their surroundings.

"What do they do?" It asked.

Gregori began to answer, "This is a gun. Similar to a bow and arrow but it shoots a small bullet and does more damage."

"Good. Didn't like archers anyway." His spear muttered.

"Would you mind letting us finish our family argument?" Jinx drawled from the floor, having calmed down from the heat of the battle.

Gregori sighed as he lifted the magic holding them down.

But unlike expected the group didn't lunge at each other's throats.

Caitlin stared at Jinx for a moment before turning to Sydell, "You said Noxian?"

Sydell looked up and nodded, "The ginger girl. Maddie."

"What proof do you have?" She asked.

"She recognized our last name." Sydell answered.

But before she could process it... the weapon spoke once again, "Ah this is Jan'ahrem's temple. People still pray to her."

"The talking weapon believes in fairy tales." Jinx commented, "And the name's Janna."

It's eye swiveled to Jinx, "Fairy tale? Janna? What this girl talking about Gregori?"

"Janna is what she is called nowadays and she hasn't been seen in a long time, leading many to stop believing in her existence." Gregori offered.

"Hey Jan'ahrem! I know you can hear me! Come on! Show yourself!" The weapon called loudly.

BOOM

The mural shattered from above as an explosion rocked its foundation.

A burst of Gray erupted from it with enough force to send them flying.

Other than Gregori and Sydell, the rest raised their arms in an effort to protect themselves from the wing.

But it split apart in front of them going around them instead of through.

"I don't remember her being this heavy handed." The weapon muttered.

Jinx scratched her head, "That was my bad."

All of a sudden the Gray stopped and then slowly it started flowing back through the hole int he wall.

"You have returned." A gentle female voice spoke from the rubble.

Their attention shifted as in front of their eyes, a burst of glowing blue wind formed a blue bird.

Jinx's jaw dropped while the rest had their eyes widened.

"Not for long I hope." The weapon replied.

"Why?" The bird asked. "Why have you come during such tumultuous times?"

The weapon sighed, "There is one of us here. Sealed. And with the Emperor's return, I see it fit to collect and seal them away in a different place. A safer one. Jan'ahrem.... a war is coming.... and it is better if my kind were stopped before then."

"Wait you recognize that the times are tumultuous! Why aren't you helping?" Vi asked the blue bird. "You are Janna right? Don't you protect us?"

"Protect us you mean!" Jinx interrupted, "The Topside has been harming us for decades."

"I cannot choose a side in your quarrels." Janna answered. "And I have been a barrier against worse things."

"What worse thing is there than the deaths of hundreds?" Caitlin asked.

"The deaths of all of them. I am ancient. I have seen more dead people than you have seen alive." Janna replied. "I hold back both the Gray and the influence of that Void-touched magic." Her attention was on the weapon in Gregori's hands.

"Drop that shit right now Gregori!" The weapon yelled.

Gregori threw the gun to the side.

The weapon's attention turned to Janna, "It is corrupted?"

"Their influence has grown stronger, and that has formed a connection with them." She said.

"Void-touched?" Caitlin asked.

The weapon turned its eye to her, "The end of all. I believed we had extinguished it entirely but we were wrong."

"You have seen other sources?" The bird's voice rose.

"Remnants in the lands between Noxus and Demacia." It answered.

The bird flapped closer, "South of Zaun and through Shurima, there have been signs. My magic doesn't extend further south but it is likely it exists there too."

"You are weaker." The weapon muttered.

"The belief in me have withered across the years. The two wars ended up taking quite a lot of my believers." The bird nodded, "And any help I provide in recent times is considered a coincidence. A major act would take too much out of me and then I wouldn't be able to hold back its influence."

"Okay! I think we are a little late but what's with the talking weapon?" Jinx asked stepping in.

Sydell turned to her, "That's uncle Caalyx."

"A weapon is your uncle?" Sevika asked.

"Honorary." The weapon responded, "But to answer your question..... I am an ancient world ending weapon capable of causing immense destruction."

"Immense destruction to my ears." Jinx moaned from the side, "How come a world ending weapon talks so much and my Fishbones doesn't?" She pointed to the rocket launcher on the ground.

"I was a human." Caalyx clarified, "And then lots of things happened and I was sealed into a weapon."

"Do you know where the other one is sealed?" Gregori asked. "The faster we leave the better."

"I do not know." Janna answered, "There is a lot of magic hiding its presence, if I hadn't felt its magic flare recently.... I wouldn't have believed your words."

"The good old way then huh Gregori?" Caalyx said.

Gregori nodded, "First I have to make sure this one stays with his siblings." He turned to Sydell. "Take us to them." He looked at the group, "All of them."

"No!" Caitlin answered, "We will not be coming with you. Our group has a spy and I cannot work with her." She pointed to Jinx.

"Why?" He asked.

"I killed her mother." Jinx answered.

Gregori sighed, taking it all in. "Then it is a temporary truce. You kill yourselves after we are done."

Caalyx turned to Vi, "Drop those gloves idiot. Do you want to die? You hear of their danger and you still wear them like trophies?"

Vi shook her head, "I won't be unarmed in enemy territory."

"Your home is enemy territory now huh?" Jinx goaded.

"HA! Gregori! Another bunch you have take care of and there is a child." Caalyx began laughing. "At this point you are collecting people faster than Darkin."

Gregori growled at Caalyx and turned to Janna, "You will be coming with us?"

The bird shook her head, "Not physically.... but I'm always there." She then dissipated into thin air.

Caitlin used the opportunity to pick up her weapon as well.

"You fire that without a good reason..." Gregori said, "You will lose your arm along with the weapon."

"Time to see how much Zaun has changed!" Caalyx spoke excitedly.

Gregori shook his head, "No. You won't be seeing anything." He reached for the wrapping.

"Wait wait." Caalyx began to try and stop him.

"The Noxians must already know of my arrival." Gregori spoke. "And we do not know which faction the spy belongs to. If it is Ambessa then it is barely an inconvenience but if it is the flower group..... then I cannot let them catch sight of you." He began wrapping his spear.

"You make mighty fine points but let me... let me tell you something!" Caalyx's voice faded as the wrapping covered him entirely.

Sydell snorted, "That will never stop being funny."

Gregori glared at him.

"Sorry." He looked down.
