Chapter 27 - “An Unexpected Lesson: Ryuji Versus the Master of the Soft Fist”

Ryuji couldn't be happier. He'd improved almost all basic ninjutsu, especially the Substitution Technique. It was hard to imagine how fast he could be now! He'd also mastered the Eight Gates Formation, almost an unrivaled jutsu. Opening the Eight Gates was a move that could directly trigger the end. Kicking Uchiha Madara was incredible just thinking about it!

However, the Eight Gates was a jutsu that could severely damage the enemy, but also and so Ryuji didn't dare use it casually.

Just when Ryuji was getting excited, Hiashi coughed, drawing his attention.

"Ryuji, as a father, I appreciate you teaching Hinata well, but let's talk about what happened earlier and the matter of the Gentle Fist."

Ryuji's heart skipped a beat.

No way out!

It was a serious crime to abuse someone's daughter!

Learning the Gentle Fist in secret was a capital offense!

Most importantly, Ryuji didn't know how to explain it.

He couldn't just say he was joking with Hinata earlier and learned the Gentle Fist from a book he found by the roadside.

Even if he said that he wouldn't believe it himself.

When Ryuji didn't know how to explain it, Hinata took her father's hand and squeezed it.

"Father, please, don't be so cruel."

Hiashi had a headache and finally understood what it meant to be a student, turning his elbows outward.

However, neither Hinata nor Hiashi prepared anything for Ryuji.

After all, the best way to deal with people with talents like him was to make friends, not enemies.

"Alright, now that Hinata has spoken for you, I won't continue with these two matters. But I have one condition: you must teach the Gentle Fist to the people of the Hyuga clan!"

Hearing this, Ryuji didn't react immediately, but Kakashi and Guy trembled all over.

Although it seemed like just a teacher's title, the benefits weren't as simple as they seemed.

If this was implemented, everyone in the Hyuga clan would call Ryuji master.

In other words, from now on, the Hyuga clan would back Ryuji. As long as he didn't betray Konoha, the Hidden Leaf Village, they wouldn't do anything against him.

Seeing Ryuji's hesitation, Kakashi and Guy were eager to help him make the right decision.

Ryuji hesitated for a moment and then shook his head slightly.

"I refuse!"

For a moment, everyone present was startled.

Such a generous offer was rejected by Ryuji. Others would have had to accept it even without those conditions.

Because Hiashi was the leader of the Hyuga clan.

And the Hyuga clan was the largest in Konoha!

Offending the Hyuga clan was equivalent to offending half of Konoha. If you gained their favor, no matter what you did in the future, everything would be fine.

Kakashi and Guy, anxiously waiting for Ryuji to change his mind, hoped that Hinata and her father could give him another chance.

"If you're willing to teach us, Ryuji, I'll find a way to get you a pair of Byakugan. Moreover," said Hiashi, looking at Hinata, "you can have the Byakugan!"

Even Kakashi, who had always been calm, lost his composure upon hearing the words "obtain the Byakugan."

The Byakugan is the kekkei genkai of the Hyuga clan, and it's also a taboo for them.

To prevent the Byakugan from spreading, the Hyuga clan placed the Cage Bird Technique on all branch members. If their eyes were taken, they would be automatically destroyed.

And precisely because of the Cage Bird Technique, the Byakugan of the Main House is no longer perfect.

This shows how much importance the Hyuga clan places on the Byakugan.

But now, as the leader of the Hyuga clan, Hiashi directly promised to give Ryuji a Byakugan.

This is unprecedented.

If word gets out, there will be an earthquake in Konoha.

Ryuji smiled helplessly.

Byakugan is undoubtedly the dojutsu a taijutsu ninja covets, but it's not that urgent for Ryuji.

He just needs to keep improving, and sooner or later he'll obtain the Byakugan.

But the most important thing is that Ryuji can't teach.

Ryuji's ability to teach Hinata was entirely due to his mastery of the Gentle Fist. Therefore, it could be said that Ryuji knows Hinata very well.

He is fully capable of adapting his teachings to the specific needs of each student.

But apart from Hinata, Neji, and maybe one other, Ryuji wouldn't know how to teach the others.

"I only teach three people: Hinata, Neji, and you!" said Ryuji.

Hiashi looked at Ryuji in surprise.

He could understand Ryuji teaching Hinata and Neji, but when Ryuji implied that he would also teach him, Hiashi didn't quite understand it.

"You mean you can teach me?"

"Yes, if it's just the Gentle Fist, I can teach you!" Ryuji replied confidently.

Hearing this, Hiashi couldn't help but frown.

It's acceptable for Ryuji to teach Hinata and Neji, but the idea of a child teaching him, who has practiced the Gentle Fist for decades, seemed like a joke to him.

Hiashi let out a dry laugh.

At first, he thought Ryuji was a rare talent.

But now he seemed arrogant and overconfident.

[Ding dong! Hiashi's preference has decreased by five points! The preference level is now seventy-one points!]

Kakashi noticed Hiashi's displeasure and quickly intervened in defense of Ryuji.

"Master Hiashi, what Ryuji is trying to say is that each person has a different understanding of ninjutsu. Perhaps his approach could be useful to you."

After listening to Kakashi's explanation, Hiashi's expression improved a little.

"I don't need it. I'm old now and it's hard to improve."

"You could try it. I can help you with your Gentle Fist," Ryuji insisted.

Ryuji's words irritated Hiashi. The previous generation of the Hyuga clan is at its peak, and Hiashi is considered the master of the Gentle Fist. For a child to claim he could teach him seemed like an insult.

"Alright, alright, I want to see how you teach me Gentle Fist!" exclaimed Hiashi, now visibly annoyed.

"Kakashi wanted to intervene, but Hiashi glared at him, making it clear he shouldn't interfere. Kakashi understood immediately.

Hiashi wasn't truly angry but frustrated by Ryuji's unrealized potential. It's obvious that Ryuji is talented, but his arrogance prevents him from growing.

Ryuji is like a rough diamond, and Hiashi feels he must polish him, and ensure that Ryuji becomes an incredible ninja in the future.

This is not only a challenge for Ryuji, but also a way to help him.

'Just use Gentle Fist, without adding any other movements or chakra, right?' Hiashi asked.

'That's right. I can teach you about the Gentle Fist,' Ryuji nodded. Chakra was his biggest weakness; if he used it, he would quickly run out of energy.

As for other moves, Ryuji hasn't learned them yet, so he can't teach them.

'Alright, I want to see how you teach me Gentle Fist today!' Hiashi exclaimed, ready for the challenge."
