Wagons rolled out of the capital for most of the morning. They carried bridge sections, bundles of sharpened stakes, replacement bowstrings, stone-cutting tools, preserved food, and barrels of the resin dwarven engineers used to hold cracked fortifications together until proper repairs became possible.
Orc infantry marched beside human archers. Elven scouts rode ahead of the column. Dwarven engineers checked every wagon whenever the road changed beneath the wheels. Fey soldiers traveled under green and brown cloaks, visible until the eye tried to follow them for too long.
The officer at the head of the convoy was the same dwarf who had passed through Redbrook earlier and met the first wave of adventures who traveled into Corathen.
Commander Torren Flint rode the same enormous horse.
