[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Atlantic.
...
...
"Well, I think after everything we've seen, we can draw our own conclusions." A voice emerged, breaking the silence.
The courtroom was completely silent, as everyone there looked at the enormous screen — none other than Atlantica itself for all present, where Severus had just entered the palace.
And how could they have seen all that? It was Steve Vujin himself who had opened it with a strange kind of magic no one knew.
Yes, everyone had seen the scene in which Severus entered Atlantica and began to bring down the monsters, summoning shadows and going into total war amidst the clash between Atlanta and those strange creatures.
Severus's shadows became hundreds of them and fought against the creatures, and every eye — whether belonging to those who hated Severus or those who supported him — was stunned, watching him and his shadows fight.
After he entered the palace, nothing else was shown. Only the war scene, with the shadows still killing monsters here and there. Even though some shadows fell to some of those strange creatures, others rose again and slaughtered the enemies. Each time a shadow fell, it regenerated once more and advanced against another enemy.
"By Merlin, what did we just see?" Professor Slughorn murmured, even knowing that Severus had destroyed Voldemort and his followers, like the monsters from the portal after seeing his memory... Still, witnessing that scene — him fighting a giant monster when he looked no more than an ant — was astonishing.
"Did you see the power of that lightning? It just destroyed half of the monster! What kind of magic is that?" someone exclaimed.
"It's like that blue flying serpent he created against Voldemort, but this one was even faster!" another replied.
"That wasn't a serpent, the creature that turned into the lightning was a dragon..." Steve Vujin corrected. England didn't exactly have a concept of what a Chinese dragon was; most would confuse that kind of dragon with a serpent.
"Even so, those spells are far too powerful... we should have asked more about them when he was here."
"Magic? Didn't you see the way he moved? That's more than magic! He punched the creature and made it fall as if it were nothing! There's nothing that strong in the wizarding world, not even a giant could do what he just did!" another person retorted.
"Silence!" ordered Lady Vicência, striking the gavel. She looked down, toward the middle of the stands. "Your name is Steve Vujin, isn't it?"
"Yes, Lady Santos. You may call me Steve," he said, bowing slightly in respect.
Dumbledore, beside Vicência, couldn't help but frown, once again thinking that the man was clearly more than just an ordinary person and a great mystery to him — after all, he had just used a magic capable of seeing over Severus's shoulder somewhere else in the world, and Severus didn't even seem to notice it. No one could do such a thing.
"Could you please end this transmission? You know this is a hidden realm. We cannot display images of this place!" she requested, as he nodded and made the big screen disappear.
"Anyway... well, I suppose Severus is beyond our hands. We must decide, at this moment, how to proceed with him."
"Wait! But it's too soon! We should ask him more questions!" someone exclaimed. "The trial should last more days!"
"I don't think there will be another outcome. You just saw what he did. It's better to finish this quickly. Unless you want to face him... being that guy's enemy is something I don't think everyone in Bruxa is prepared for," commented Mrs. Longbottom, Frank Longbottom's mother.
"Well, I agree. Let's finish this quickly, because, as you can see, I have urgent matters to attend to," said Vicência, for now she urgently needed to deal with whatever was happening in Atlantica.
"We first need to talk about the monsters that came out of the painting! If that happens anywhere else, we're screwed!" someone shouted, and soon everyone felt the urgency to discuss it.
A debate began right there.
Meanwhile, in Atlantica, Severus walked through the corridors, while several shadows passed by him, entering the castle and destroying all the monsters that still emerged from every corner.
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed. It seemed another large monster had appeared. Severus looked at one of the dead bodies left by his shadows.
"Arise," he invoked, and the shadow began to emerge, rising in the form of the sea monster.
"Take me to where the monsters are coming from," ordered Severus.
The shadow nodded and began to walk ahead.
Soon, the corridor opened into a vast chamber. Inside was a third monster, the one that had made the earlier sound — as large as the previous two Severus had already slain.
Igris wanted to fight, but Severus wanted to end it quickly. He set his wand aside as it began to emit lightning. Sparks spread around, slicing through the air with each discharge.
The creature roared, charging at him the moment it saw the challenge, but it was too late. Severus raised his wand and pointed it directly at the monster's head. A colossal lightning bolt was fired, piercing through the skull and exploding right after — an even more brutal attack than the previous one that had only punctured the head.
Blood splattered everywhere, and the creature fell headless, making the ground tremble.
Severus kept walking, stepping over the beast's body. After some time, he finally entered the throne hall, where there was a painting behind the throne — and within it, a massive creature. It wasn't as big as the previous ones, but Severus could feel it was far more menacing.
"Perfect," he murmured, satisfied, looking at the monster that would soon join his army. He put away his wand and turned to Igris.
"I want you not to interfere," said Severus. Igris merely nodded.
In the next instant, Baran's two daggers appeared in Severus's hands. He bent his knees and, surrounded by lightning, shot toward the creature, which roared in response. The nearby shadows retreated, watching the battle begin.
Sounds of combat echoed through the throne hall, making the walls tremble. Outside, the soldiers still hesitated to advance amid the chaos left by Severus and the monsters; no one was firing anymore. All the creatures were being contained by the shadows.
"What's happening here?!" The princess turned, recognizing the voice.
"Father!" she exclaimed.
"Are you all right, ______? What was that? Where did that man beside you come from? Who is he?" asked the king, his tone urgent and authoritative.
Shala stood still, along with the princess's advisor and bodyguard. The princess began explaining the same thing she had told Shala earlier, while the king watched her, stunned.
"This man defeated you along with the team chosen by Lady Santos and, somehow, placed a shadow at your feet to appear here. He's helping us now?" he said with a grimace, exchanging glances with the other advisors beside him.
"That can't be. If this man placed something like that on the princess — a shadow to spy on her and even appear by her side — then he has other intentions," said one of the advisors in a firm tone. No one could enter Atlanta like that, by teleportation, only with the kingdom's technology — yet Severus had teleported there.
"Whatever his intentions are, you can't change the fact that all the monsters that were terrorizing the kingdom are now fallen," replied the princess, pointing toward the front of the castle. There would have been more casualties, since no one had been able to bring down the giant monster before Severus appeared.
Everyone looked and saw the dead creatures shortly after Severus had entered. At that moment, Severus's shadows had massacred all the creatures — every last one — and now stood still. Some had entered the castle, but most remained outside, unmoving.
"Well, that's true. Whatever those black things are, they didn't attack our people. They eliminated all the creatures... they serve that man, don't they?" said one of the advisors. "I've never seen anything like it. Is that magic?"
"I don't know how his abilities work, but we have to wait, and it's best to wait here. Another giant monster came out of the castle — who knows what else is in there... We should also ask where those monsters came from..." the princess commented.
If she had been at the trial, she would have known that this topic had been discussed — monsters emerging from paintings — and, having seen the chaos that had occurred in Atlantica, surely the people in that courtroom were now debating the danger of those portals.
A roar echoed inside the castle, drawing everyone's attention. "Another creature... he must be fighting it," said Shala, feeling it was the obvious conclusion.
In the throne hall, the creature finally fell dead. That scream had not been of rage, but of agony.
Severus watched the monster's fallen body, then looked toward the destroyed painting. Inside the torn frame was a kind of blue portal — it was from there that the creatures had been emerging.
He didn't know if the portal would close on its own or not, but he was certain he had faced the boss. Even so, he summoned some of his shadows and stepped into the portal to make sure.
On the other side, he found an underwater cave filled with crystals. There were still a few monsters there, but he quickly ordered his shadows to destroy them and collect the crystals.
When nothing was left, Severus finally left the portal, which closed right behind him. He had all the XP points and bags full of mana crystals — always useful for brewing special potions, found only in the portals within the paintings.
Everything around was now a place filled with corpses and complete silence.
Severus looked toward the bosses. "Arise," he invoked.
In the next instant, the shadows began to appear one after another, while a roar echoed — again, the boss roared, but this time it sounded far more joyful than the previous cry, frightening the people outside. After that, silence fell once more.
The shadows gathered at Severus's feet. He began walking slowly, also summoning the shadow of the dead giant inside the castle. When he emerged, several people watched him from afar, cautiously, and were surprised to see him.
Severus spotted the princess alongside a man wearing a crown and holding a trident — the king of Atlantica, from what he could tell. But he didn't care much about that at the moment.
He placed his hand on the ground again. "Arise."
In the next instant, the two dead giants — both the one from the castle and the one from the city center — began to rise, terrifying everyone around.
A shape identical to the monster Severus had slain formed, before sinking into the ground and advancing toward him. All the shadows he had taken — from the giants and other creatures alike — vanished, making the people recoil in horror.
"That... that's necromancy?" someone murmured, shocked.
Either way, Severus disappeared and, in the blink of an eye, appeared in the middle of the city. He walked toward the royal family, while hundreds of soldiers pointed their magical weapons at him the moment they saw him moving so casually and suddenly in their direction.
"Well... I apologize for this — appearing here uninvited. But I saw that you needed my help, so I came," he said, showing a faint smile.
The Atlanteans stared at him in silence, not knowing what to say in the presence of that man.
