Chapter 16 - Chapter 14: dangerous games

Let's go back to how Li Xuanyin knew that Yue Lusi is not Yue Xianying

How he enters the second universe

And Yue Lusi and Yue Chuchu first meeting in the second unit

In the quiet chamber of cosmic secrets, the old woman wove her tale—a tapestry threaded with fate, sacrifice, and time.Li Xuanyin listened, his eyes tracing the shimmering lines suspended in the air like constellations yet unnamed.

"I gave Lusi Cheng the ChronoKey," the old woman began, her voice drifting like stardust through the silence. "She time-traveled to another universe, desperate to save her sister. But the threads of destiny are fragile—every tug leaves a scar."

Li Xuanyin 's brow furrowed. "Lusi Cheng? Who is she to me?"

"Your past-life wife," she said, her eyes piercing through dimensions. "The reincarnation of Yue Lusi. She is now Yue Lusi Cheng. Souls bound, life after life."

"Why?" His voice trembled. "Why give her the ChronoKey?"

"Because destiny demanded it," the old woman intoned. "When you chose immortality, you sealed a cosmic bargain. You are both caught in the balance—retribution and redemption. Yue Lusi now carries her burden, and you…" She pointed to him, her finger glowing like a dying star. "She is your penance."

"But who are you?" he asked, voice low and urgent.

Her smile echoed galaxies. "The one who weaves the stars. I know you will protect her. But remember—only one path leads to salvation. The other... to eternal ruin. Choose wisely. The celestial clock ticks."

And then, as if she had been an illusion woven from nebulae and forgotten prayers, she vanished—leaving Li Xuanyin with a vow etched into his immortal bones.

He would protect Yue Lusi —no matter the cost.

Inside the dimly lit Starlight Bar, Yue Lusi moved like a wraith—her all-black attire merging with the shadows. The air was thick with sweat and secrets. She had come with a mission: uncover the truth.

The manager's office stood like a vault of sin. She slipped inside, heartbeat pulsing in her ears. From her coat, she drew a USB—Yue Lu's final message, the one that might tear apart Fu Shen's empire.

Plugging it into the terminal, files bloomed on the screen. And just as she began extracting them, red light blinked overhead. Cameras. She had been spotted.

Panic clawed at her throat.

And then—

He appeared.

Li Xuanyin. A figure from another world, draped in silence and time.

She stumbled into him.

"Hide me," she whispered, desperation cracking her voice.

"Why would I?" His gaze was unreadable.

"Please," she said again, voice thinner now. "Just… hide me."

Li Xuanyin hesitated. Then, a smile curled at his lips.

"You never change," he murmured.

Slipping his arm around her, he pulled her close. Their charade—a pair of lovers reunited—fooled the oncoming manager. After a nod and awkward apology, the man retreated.

Alone in the room, Yue Lusi buried her face in his chest, her body trembling.

"Why are you here?" she asked.

"For a lost love," he said.

The words struck her like lightning. Why did it make her feel something in her heart? She couldn't explain.

As silence fell, her purse toppled. Out rolled the jade pendant—and the USB.

She picked it up with shaking hands. Plugging it into Li Xuanyin 's laptop, she braced herself.

The screen flickered to life.

Yue Lu appeared.

"Sister," her voice cracked. "By the time you watch this, I'm already gone. I'm sorry. I know it's selfish, but I couldn't live like this."

Then came the next video.

Her sister.

Screaming.

Broken.

Violated by Fu Han and two others.

Yue Lusi's soul fractured. Li Xuanyin gently wiped the tears from her cheeks.

"I'll help you get revenge," he said, voice like starlight forged in fire. "You're not alone."

The next clip—a list of Fu Shen's crimes—refused to play. Corrupted. Redacted. Silenced.

But her resolve sharpened. If she couldn't reveal the truth, she'd make them choke on it.

Later, in the calm of her apartment, Yue Lusi sat numb—eyes fixed on nothing. The air stirred behind her.

"Yue Lu?" she whispered.

But the face wasn't hers.

"Did you forget your sister's name?" teased the girl, pinching Yue Lusi's cheek.

"uhmm Yue…" Ji-Hyun blinked. Her sister was alive. In this universe.

"oh I'm hurt my sister can't remember my name,c'mon It's your Chuchu,I came back from abroad today."She said dramatically

Tears welled—but Yue Lusi smiled. "Oh my little sister, forgive me. Work's been hell." She sees Yue Lu in Yue Chuchu

"Wait till you meet my boyfriend," Chu Chu said, eyes glittering.

A knock. A door creaked open.

"Sister-in-law," said a man.

Fu Han.

Yue Lusi froze. The rapist. The monster. And now… her sister's lover?

"She's dating my brother," he added, smiling. "Fu Shen."

"A delightful surprise, isn't it?"

"Yes," Yue Lusi replied, mask fixed in place.

She had to play the game.

"I'll have the maid cook," she said.

"You know I'm a foodie!" Chuchu laughed.

Yue Lusi's heart bled behind her smile.

_______________

In a private room, Li Xuanyin waited—his eyes luminous with ageless knowledge.

"Let's do this," Yue Lusi said, placing the ChronoKey between them.

Li Xuanyin 's version—obsidian black—vibrated with raw power. As they activated it, time warped.

She blinked. They were in her universe. A shopping mall's dressing room.

"You're not human," she said, narrowing her eyes.

"I am the keeper of memories," he replied. "A wanderer of realms. Seeking a soul I once called my wife."

"And now?" she asked.

"Immortality is my punishment. Love, my only redemption."

In silence, they donned caps and masks. Their destination: the rooftop above the bar.

Fu Han waited—drunk and stumbling.

Li Xuanyin lured him. Cameras—disabled. Shadows—silent.

Before parting, he kissed Yue Lusi's forehead. "Take care," he whispered.

Her heart stuttered. The world narrowed to that touch.

On the rooftop, Han laughed.

Yue Lusi stepped forward.

"For Yue Lu," she whispered.

She pushed him.

His scream cut the night—and ended.

Fu Shen found the body.

His phone rang.

Yue Lusi's voice. "Look behind you."

He turned. She stood atop a distant building—like vengeance reborn.

"Dead?" he asked, gasping.

"Maybe," she replied. "But now… I say no."

"The game begins," she said. "Fear someone with nothing left to lose."

At the police station, chaos erupted.

"Ji-Hyun is alive! She killed him" Fu Shen insisted.

"Your brother overdosed on drugs and alcohol," the officer said. "It's suicide. Move on." The officer said

But Yue Lusi's war had just begun.

Li Xuanyin — Cosmic Profile

Supreme Immortality:

Not all immortals are equal. Li Xuanyin is the First-Bound, the original immortal forged by the celestial contract itself. His existence predates the collapse of ancient timelines. While others were gifted eternity, he was burdened with it—cursed to remember every era, every war, every death.

Other immortals bow in his presence, their powers pale reflections of his origin flame.

Time does not just bend for him—it kneels. He does not merely observe timelines—he anchors them. When he walks between worlds, the threads realign, and alternate fates wither to accommodate his presence.

His command over paradoxes allows him to destroy fixed points in destiny—an ability feared by cosmic adjudicators and timewalkers alike.

His name is written in the Codex of Aeons—the book that governs the laws of immortality. He alone can revoke or bestow eternal life. Entire pantheons have knelt before him, not out of reverence, but survival.

The immortal tribunals refer to him only as the "Vow-Keeper." When he speaks, even star-forged entities listen.

Min-Joon sees souls in their purest essence—across bodies, lifetimes, and disguises. He does not need names or memories to recognize someone. He finds Yue Lusi in any form, across universes, drawn to her like a phoenix to its ashes.

He can sever soul-bonds and unravel karmic curses with a mere touch.

Despite his supremacy, one truth breaks him: He cannot bring back the dead—not truly. He can bend time, stall fate, but not reverse the soul's departure. Yue Lusi's pain, Yue Lu's suffering—he bears them all.

His omnipotence is shadowed by eternal grief—the price of never forgetting.

The other immortals whisper of a prophecy: If the Vow-Keeper breaks his oath, the cosmos will collapse into silence. He is both protector and potential destroyer.

And yet, with all this power, he chooses to kneel only before her—Yue Lusi
