Chapter 16 - 15:

.

.

.

It's been a week since I resolved to hunt inside the forest to increase my SEV. And I have to say it was productive, to say the least. I not only managed to gather quite a lot of SEV but also managed to improve my fighting style and acquire enough experience to not be called a failure by an Asian parent. Steven has a competition now.

I almost chuckled remembering those memes.

My constitution stats improved massively this week again. 0.05 to be exact which means I collected 500 SEV in this week alone. Normally I should have never come anywhere close to this number but I did something I'm not proud of but it did give me close 500 SEV.

I poisoned the pond inside the forest, killing all the fish and other aquatic life alongside some animals that came to drink the water.

I felt some guilt doing that and knew it wasn't a necessity. I only did it to raise my evaluation as much as possible in the upcoming Royal Academy assessment. To increase my benefits just as much.

I'm not hypocritical enough to deny that or believe detoxifying the pond afterwards justified my action.

Thinking about the poison hurt my dark capitalist heart. The reason? It was damn expensive because it came from a Tier 1 snake type beast. It cost me all the coins I collected before the poisoning day. And the worst part? I couldn't even sell those fishes and animals due to them containing the poison.

I fumed at the look Billy gave me afterwards like I was retarded or something.

Good thing that antidote came with the poison or I might have gotten myself in loan… to a very shrewd fat man.

Now let's forget about my hurting wallet and focus on the positive things. I managed to increase my constitution stats to 0.15 although my spiritual stats still didn't change I plan to improve it after my constitution caught up to it.

Anyway few things I noticed after improving my stats after the increase of SEV. First— the improvement after the increase of each stats became bigger. I only increased it by 0.05 but my increase of physical prowess is more than twice as before.

Second—Although I can't describe it precisely. I feel I'm fundamentally changed like I'm no more carbon-based life form. Although crazy but I won't put it past in this crazy new world.

Lastly—I'm more aware of my body internally specifically a new vein system that I knew wasn't present in my previous world.

I can feel there are 41 opening points in the those vein system from which 12 are open and the rest are closed.

I did not find anything about this vein system inside the book Billy procured but my Otaku sense tells me they are the so-called spiritual veins from the cultivation novels.

Speaking of the Royal Academy introductory book that Billy got me. Today is the day Royal recruiters will come to the village so I alongside other orphanage kids are silently waiting for them in our brand new clothes. Yeah, the Old hag ain't playing here, she wants her resume spotless.

We are not the only ones waiting as many other village kids alongside with their parents are also waiting.

It was a big event for the villagers as they all knew if their children would manage to enter the Royal Academy their course of life would completely change. So every village folk having children between 5-10 are here even if they don't know much about the Royal Academy. And only knew what was public knowledge like the possibility of earning a knighthood or nobility title if one scored high enough in the Academy. Although not much for the higher class citizens but for these common folk it's probably the highest achievement.

"Ouch!!!" I jumped from the sudden pain. Looking back I saw Erica pinching my back.

"What!"

"Focus! They are here." She huffed in annoyance and pointed towards the entrance.

I looked at the entrance and lo behold five people walked in wearing clothes that even made the chief and his son seem poor.

They did not announce their arrival nor did they greet anyone, just walked straight to the matron and started talking to her. After some time they called for the chief and other adults as well.

While they discussed I scanned the five Royal recruiters. Four of them were male wearing slim-fitted navy blue trousers with tucked-in white button-collared-up shirts. A light blue blazer under a waist-length navy blue cloak.

The pants and shirts were simple but the blazer had white and gold embroidery alongside a roaring lion symbol on the breast pocket.

The cloak also had the same symbol on the back.

The girl who looked like the leader of the group also wore the same uniform except hers had a navy blue skirt instead.

She talked with the adult as if explaining something before she signalled one of the male recruiters who brought out something that looked like a tent.

He placed the tent on the ground and it rapidly expanded to a small size hut.

The girl alongside the two males walked into the tent. The remaining males stood outside the tent as guards while the adults started arranging them in a straight lane.

One by one the kids started entering the tent alongside their guardians. The first one to enter the tent was the chief and his son. And looking at their smiling when they exited the tent I can safely say the chief's son passed the assessment. After that other village kids started entering the tent.

I was on the end of the lane even though I wanted to be at the very front of the lane to get my assessment quickly but the old hag placed me last. She had no expectations of me not that I can blame her. Previous Magnus wasn't all that physically strong. Not even in her wildest dreams would she think I would pass the assessment.
