Chapter 56 - CHAPTER FIFTY: STRATEGY MEETING?

HYDE'S POINT OF VIEW.

I stir from sleep and sit up yawning.

-Lord Fenice literally insisted on giving me the rest of the day to sleep all in bid to get me healthier-

"But you must be wondering, what IS the Reformation all about?-" "GAH!" I yell in alarm.

I am startled as Horn comes right up in my face right after I've just woken up, and to worsen it, he's apparently sprung up out of nowhere.

His empty eyes lock with mine as he leans even closer towards my face.

-Wait, was he in my room all along?-

He smirks delightfully as he sits on my bed without being invited to.

"The Reformation is a dream, honed by our genius Lord Fenice..." he gestures exuberantly.

"A dream that will only be achieved with memory..." he pauses and sighs dramatically.

"Stupid humanity has forgotten the suffering they faced three hundred years ago, they've grown bold enough to neglect the lingering dangers... assuming that only peaceful days will come along..." he adds, his expression troubled;

"THEY'VE LOST RECOLLECTION OF THE BLOODSHED, THE PAIN, THE AGONY, THE DESTRUCTION, THE FEAR that Monsters bring and worst of all... they've forgotten..."

-His voice becomes a whisper now-;

"They've forgotten that the very dangers that led to this period of anguish- are infact still available and will IN FACT ARISE SOMEDAY TO RIP THIS WORLD TO SMITHERINGS!!"

-Yeah, okay but why the hell am I hearing this right after I've woken up?; I can't seem to register anything this guy is saying-

"But out of the kindness of his heart...gods bless his heart!- our Lord Fenice has decided to submit himself as a sacrifice... to remind the world of its suffering and put humans out of their blissful ignorance, force them to reminisce on what happens, if they let sleeping beasts lie..."

-I'm sure he's making a lot of sense, too bad I can't make out a single word out of what he's buzzing about-

The door slams open, and Mighty storms in;

My cheeks flare up;

-How does she manage to appear less and less clothed each time?-

"What other imbecile would wake the entire household with his chaotic babbling?!" She grumbles as she marches to Horn and grabs him up by the scruff of his neck.

He chuckles; "This was a special assignment that Lord Fenice gave me Mighty, if you're jelous then you can just admit it..." He teases;

She doesn't find this amusing at all;

-Her muscles appear to bulge even larger as she beats him up-

I quietly sneak out while they're at it, only to meet Treya at my door.

We regard each other wordlessly.

-Come to think of it, I somehow haven't seen Treya around for a while now-

In fact, it's almost like she doesn't have a presence at all in this place.

"Hello..." I blurt nervously, while rubbing the back of my head with my prosthetic arm.

She grasps my new arm and pulls it to herself.

-I am taken aback by her actions-

She studies the arm carefully, and I watch her in puzzlement, suddenly; she looks up at me.

My face flushes as we suddenly lock eyes;

I'm trembling as she reaches up and brushes something off my hair;

-Apart from Rise, I have never shared any close contact whatsoever, with a woman-

She drops the arm and walks into my room.

So this is how it's done here?;

- Anyone can just stroll without permission into your room at any time?-

After some seconds, everyone exeunts my room, Treya turns to me;

"Lord Fenice requests for all of us to be at his STRATEGY MEETING..."

-STRATEGY MEETING?-

They walk along and I follow suit.

HYDE'S POV END.

RAVE'S POINT OF VIEW.

"Try to recreate the sensation you experienced right before you harnessed your ability... try to envision the thrill you felt before your ability became concrete, good...now breath in..."

We sound out a concurrent and deep inhale;

"Wonderful, now breath out..."

I push out the air from my nose energetically.

-Hoping that the report of me not possessing Essence isn't legit-

After a few minutes of nothing occuring, I open my eye slightly to see the rest of the class ablaze with activities involving their multiple, colourful abilities.

-I feel dark and grey, colourless and bland... just a basic individual with no potentials-

The Mage teacher turns her attention to me;

"I know you're also studying to be a Mage... but if things like this discomfort you too much, I could always..." She stutters, appearing genuinely concerned.

I sigh heavily as I arise from the ground;

"No, I like it this way..."

She looks at me quizically as I walk up to join up with my contemporaries.

I don't want to socialise or anything, however; observing the people I'm going to be training with for such a long time, can't be such a bad idea.

-I identify some faces-

Sesugh appears to be producing a bout of invisible, vibrating air that morphs the light passing through it.

Taki is delighted as she toys with plants.

Yal appears frustrated, as he's visibly not getting a hang of manipulating his water.

-They all seem to have absolutely no ounce of control over their abilities; how pathetic-

My eyes turn to Camada;

-She's not doing anything special, she just looks like she's glowing or something-

I let out a small laugh;

-Her ability seems to be all about giving off light or something; so much for becoming powerful and all the stuff she told me before-

"Students, may I have your attention?"

I turn to the entrance alongside everybody else.

A man walks to the podium set above us and gives a bow;

"Apologies for the late introduction, I am Mage Grant and I am going to be serving as the principal of the Reverred-Mage academic set"

We simultaneously bow in reference.

"Now I'll be giving a rundown of what a typical academic period is all about and what you should be expecting..." He

pauses decisively; "And anyone who believes it's all easygoing will be advised by me to change that mindset..."

I smirk to myself;

-This is going to be incredible-

RAVE'S POV END.

THE HOODED ONE'S POINT OF VIEW/ MEMOIR.

I look up at the sky meditatively.

-Several fragmented thoughts run through my head-

And with this perfect serenity, I hope to gather them all up one by one;

-It's a good thing I came where I'm certain Fenice can't find me-

"HOOD!"

-WHAT-

Fenice bounds up to me cheerfully.

My face scrunches up instantly.

Fenice chuckles heartily as he lands with a thud on the soft grass beside me.

"You must be wondering how I always figure out where you are right?"

My lips press together as I let out an exasperated sigh.

"Yes, I'm wondering how the hell you keep finding me"

-Let me just let him have his fun-

He points at a tree not too far off;

"The trees are your greatest enemies..." he smiles; "And my greatest friends... so anytime I wonder where you've gone, they tell me exactly where to find you that is if you've passed their path before"

"Very interesting ability" I comment;

-Should I just kill any plants across any pathway I take?-

"So, what are you up to?"

-It's not been up to a minute yet he's already chatting?-

"I have some scattered thoughts so I'm meditating to clear my head". I make the mistake of saying.

Fenice grins widely;

"Oh really?, Why don't you share them with me? You know I'm a good listener"

-OH NO-

Fenice pesters me for about an hour before I give in;

-Perhaps I should pull his legs a bit for all his harassment-

"Do you know that one day, all your precious plants could be engulfed in flames?" I mutter in an undertone.

He is awestruck;

"What do you mean?"

-He is overly eager-

I smile to myself in thrill;

"It's all contained in a prophecy about the destruction of the world"

He is attentive as I recount.

After my short narration, he is still.

-Deep in thought, his brows are furrowed as he folds his arms-

"And what is the System doing to prevent this scenario?" he asks quietly.

I chuckle;

-I didn't expect him to be so shaken up; he really does love his plants-

I lean back in relaxation;

-The air wafts through my hood, and the chirping of birds perched on trees dotted around this field serve as a reminder that tranquility still exists; but Fenice, right now he's...-

He trembles as he rubs the nape of his neck.

I regard him in amusement;

"The System isn't doing anything... they'd only like to keep the reality of this prophecy hidden, and can you blame them?"

Fenice is quiet.

-For the first time I've ever seen him-

I laugh; "It's not like we can force awareness on people...or wake the sealed Great-Chaos beasts up, so chill out Fenice... humanity is practically helpless over futur-" "-We can't do anything about it?" He cuts me in, his voice solemn.

-I shrug-;

"No, we can't..."

THE HOODED ONE'S POV END.
