Chapter 448 - Chapter 448: A Common Goal, Darkness Redeemed?

Chapter 448: A Common Goal, Darkness Redeemed?

"Correct."

Within the space created by the Will of Light's Origin, Kong and Gu Yuena did not conceal anything. They nodded directly in admission.

Even the Will of Darkness's Origin could see their situation. For the Will of Light's Origin, which stood at the same level, there was no reason not to. More importantly, since they were standing before it now, if it could not see through them, they would have to doubt whether this was truly the target they had sought.

"Tell me then—what purpose brings you here to find me? What happened in the future that made you expend such effort to come to this era?" The Will of Light's Origin asked softly.

"We want to ask you to leave this place—to deal with the Will of Darkness's Origin." Kong's face was calm as he spoke directly of their goal.

"Oh?"

The Will of Light's Origin sounded puzzled, not understanding. "That one, in the future—did it commit some monstrous crime? But no, that doesn't seem right…"

It fell into silence for a moment, then said, "By reason, with the Will of the Universe's Origin restraining it, even if it had such thoughts, it should be unable to act on them."

"It wants to return to its peak state, then devour all living beings and the power of the laws."

Gu Yuena's violet eyes narrowed, her expression sinking as anger filled her face. "And many of my people have already died at its hands."

"Return to its peak state? Was it injured?" The Will of Light's Origin asked, voicing its doubt.

"Yes."

Gu Yuena nodded, suppressing her fury. "In its battle with the Dragon God, it was ambushed by the Will of the Universe's Origin. In the hundreds of thousands of years that followed, it has been healing."

When she finished, Gu Yuena shifted slightly, signaling for Kong to continue.

Kong did not hesitate. "And recently, it cooperated with someone named Tang San. As for why it chose such a useless person, none of us know."

"Cooperation? Tang San? A useless one?"

The Will of Light's Origin murmured softly, then explained, "The Will of Darkness's Origin governs all darkness, while I govern all light. Thus, when we are grievously wounded and require great time to recover, we can choose to cooperate with a being whose heart shares our attribute. If that one's cultivation reaches its peak, then we too may recover our peak. But…"

It paused briefly before continuing, "Unlike it, my contract can be set as a binding pact for both sides. Its arrangement, however, is different."

"You mean the Will of Darkness's Origin is using Tang San?" Kong frowned, immediately understanding.

"If your account is true, then that is more or less correct."

The Will of Light's Origin nodded slightly. Its melodious, emotionless voice echoed through the space. "If I have not guessed wrong, then at the very moment this Tang San reaches his peak cultivation, it will be his death. For that dark one will never allow such a supplement to exist."

"In that case, as the Will of Light's Origin, why do you not take action to stop it?" Gu Yuena's expression remained grim, clearly still burdened by the destruction of the entire Star Dou Forest in the past battle against the Will of Darkness's Origin.

"I should stop it? Stop it from what?" The Will of Light's Origin asked in confusion, not grasping the Silver Dragon's meaning.

"From devouring, of course," Gu Yuena answered.

"Girl, are you sure you are not mistaken?"

The Will of Light's Origin reminded her, "Do not forget—it is the Will of Darkness's Origin. If I strike and sever its source of strength, then tell me, how long could either I or this universe continue to exist? And besides, even if it harbors the thought of devouring all life, that is in the future, not the present."

"So, you are unwilling to act?" Gu Yuena's expression turned utterly grim.

They had expended unimaginable effort to find this being, all for the hope that it would emerge, return with them to reality, and stand against the Will of Darkness's Origin. Yet now, from its words, it seemed unwilling to do so.

"It is not that I am unwilling, but that I cannot."

The Will of Light's Origin shook its head and spoke softly. "If I were to act against the Will of Darkness's Origin as you suggest, then the Will of the Universe's Origin would also intervene. At that time, all three thousand origin Daos would once more return into its grasp."

"Would that not be a good thing?"

Kong and Gu Yuena exchanged glances, both deeply puzzled.

Since the Will of the Universe's Origin was the core of the cosmos, it seemed reasonable for it to hold the original three thousand origins.

"It is indeed good—but consider this. If you were in this position, would you willingly become the lackey of the Will of the Universe's Origin again?"

The Will of Light's Origin did not refute but instead laid bare its thoughts to the two before it.

"Most importantly, once the Will of the Universe's Origin holds all three thousand Daos again, every path of cultivation in the cosmos would require its permission. For example, even now, it suppresses the human race, because their cultivation talent is simply too high.

Such a situation is not something I, nor darkness, nor any other origin will wishes to see. Yet we cannot resist. Still, despite this, within our hearts, we all share a common goal."

"What is it?" Kong and Gu Yuena asked.

"To destroy the Will of the Universe's Origin, and let the three thousand origin Daos govern the balance of the cosmos themselves!"

At this moment, the Will of Light's Origin's formerly gentle tone turned cold and resolute. "Light and darkness maintain the balance of the cosmos. The remaining origin forces spread throughout the universe, laying down inheritances of law and comprehension.

For in our eyes, whether human or beast, none should suffer unfair treatment. I do not know whether, in the future, the human race's position changes. But at least now, the current situation is not one I desire to see."

This universe could exist without the Will of the Universe's Origin, but it could never exist without light and darkness. For it was they who truly upheld the balance and stability of all things.

Hearing this, Gu Yuena and Kong both fell into silence, unable to find words.
