"Auntie Jiang, it's okay. It's just washing some clothes, I'm not incapable or anything!"
Su Yan smiled as she spoke to the farmer's wife.
"You're almost eight months along now. You shouldn't be doing these things; protecting the baby in your belly is the most important!"
The farmer's wife said to Su Yan.
"Auntie Jiang, you and Uncle Jiang have taken me in and looked after me, you've already been so kind. I just want to do a little something to repay you, to thank you!"
Su Yan said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Little Yan, we took you in without expecting anything in return. Don't overthink it!"
A middle-aged man around forty, with graying hair, walked into the yard carrying a pile of firewood. He looked at Su Yan and said.
"Yes, it's fate that we met. You're all alone, carrying such a big burden, it's not easy for you. We just want to do a good deed by looking after you. Just stay here peacefully until the child is safely born!"
The farmer's wife said.
