Do you really think there's still a chance for us to get engaged?" "Dirk, I heard you two have been seeing each other for several months, but she never let you touch her? Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Ultimate Female Boss

Stillwater County Health Department, on the sofa in the Public Health Office.

Lily Sullivan writhed on Victor Ford like a cat in heat.

"You little vixen, I never knew you had it in you,"

Victor Ford said with a satisfied look.

Perhaps encouraged, Lily worked even harder, her rhythm like a little motor whirring on her backside.

A sudden numbness at the waist.

Just as things were about to climax.

Bam!

The office door was flung open.

Dirk Carter appeared, eyes red and fists clenched.

The pair's "sprint" was interrupted.

After a brief moment of shock,

Lily nonchalantly picked up her panties hanging on the vase and slowly put them on.

Victor Ford, looking disgruntled, lit a cigarette, his gaze still lingering on Lily's body, as if reluctant to part.

"What a pair of shameless dogs!"

Dirk Carter gritted his teeth and said.

While fastening her bra, Lily said, "Watch what you say. We aren't married, so who I sleep with is none of your business."

"If I recall correctly, we were just about to get engaged."

Dirk Carter replied.

Lily burst out laughing.

She said, "Dirk, you need a reality check. Dylan Tate jumped off a building. Your backer is gone. Do you really think there's still a chance for us to get engaged?"

At the mention of Dylan Tate's name,

Dirk Carter felt a tightness in his chest.

When he was 18, both his parents died, leaving him an orphan. His father George Carter and Dylan Tate, who was then the Party Secretary of Bayberry Town, were war buddies. Learning of Dirk's situation, Dylan took him in and raised him personally.

Thanks to Dylan Tate's arrangements,

At 24, Dirk got a job in the health department.

Three nights ago, County Governor Dylan Tate suddenly came to him, handed him a briefcase, and told him to keep it safe as he would come to retrieve it in a week.

But that very night, Dirk heard of Dylan Tate's suicide by jumping off a building.

After settling everything today, he personally witnessed his girlfriend cheating with his arch-enemy.

At this moment,

Victor Ford finished his cigarette.

He pressed the cigarette butt into the ashtray and began buttoning his shirt leisurely.

He acted as if completely unbothered by being caught in the act.

"Dirk, I heard you two have been seeing each other for several months, but she never let you touch her? Funny, Lily was quite forward with me just now, stripping herself and climbing on top. Seems like it's you who's the problem,"

He finished speaking,

His hand naturally wandered under Lily's freshly adjusted skirt, roaming once again.

As if deliberately provoking Dirk's fragile state of mind.

"Oh, stop it!"

Lily teased softly.

Still riding the high from earlier and with Victor's wandering hands, her face flushed again, and she let out a soft moan from her throat.

"Dirk, everyone in this department knows we're arch-enemies. You're just a loser. If it weren't for Dylan Tate, could I possibly be worse than you? I will make you watch me steal your job and bed your woman, and there's nothing you can do about it. How does it feel? Helpless? Desperate? Hahaha—"

Before Victor Ford's laughter finished,

Dirk Carter's fist finally flew.

With a heavy thud, it landed on Victor Ford's face.

The punch was powerful.

Victor Ford toppled off the sofa, head over heels.

When he staggered back up, a trace of blood appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Such commotion,

quickly gathered a crowd in the office corridor.

"You idiotic thing, dare to hit me? I guess you don't want to stay in the health department anymore. Someone, hold this mad dog down for me!"

In the past, no one would step up.

But things were different now.

Everyone knew Dirk had lost his backing.

A few young people rushed in voluntarily, pinned Dirk who was still ready to fight, and held him down completely.

Still fuming,

Victor Ford stepped in front of the struggling Dirk, raised his foot, ready to stomp down—

Just then,

someone at the door shouted, "Director Goodman is here."

Next,

the noisy scene instantly quieted down.

The crowd parted.

A woman in her thirties, with a graceful figure, walked in.

The woman wore a tight lace blouse and a standard short skirt, with a slim waist and curvy hips, the perfect figure of a stunning mature woman.

Though her figure was tempting,

her face was icy cold.

Intimidating to all who looked.

Her beautiful eyes scanned the faces of everyone in the office.

She said calmly, "Both of you, your bonuses for the year are canceled, and I want a 3,000-word reflection from each of you on my desk before the end of the day. If anything like this happens again, everyone involved will pack up and leave!"

Victor Ford tried to argue.

Delilah Goodman didn't give him the chance, turning on her heel and leaving in her high heels.

"Ugh! What a piece of work. Someday I'll have her beneath me!"

Victor Ford, with nowhere to vent, spat at the back of Delilah Goodman.

The director had spoken.

Nobody dared to act out of line.

With a whoosh, everyone dispersed.

Delilah Goodman returned to her office, just about to close the door when a shadow slipped in.

Seeing who it was, it turned out to be Dirk Carter, the one who had just fought.

Frowning, she said, "You don't need to explain anything to me, nor do I want to hear it. Go back and write your reflection."

Dirk Carter remained calm, saying, "Director Goodman, I would like to make a deal with you!"

"A deal? What kind of deal? I'm not interested in any deal with you,"

Delilah Goodman said with disgust.

Dirk Carter smiled slightly and said, "You will be interested if you're planning to divorce Bingham Fisher."

At these words,

Delilah Goodman's initially disdainful expression immediately turned to surprise.

After a short moment of shock, Delilah Goodman asked, "What are you talking about? I don't understand."

Though brief, Delilah's change in emotion was caught by Dirk Carter, which eased his mind, confirming that the contents of the briefcase left by Dylan Tate were genuine.

At this moment, though Delilah Goodman sat casually on the sofa,

she no longer talked about kicking Dirk out.

Dirk Carter walked leisurely to Delilah Goodman's side, sitting closely next to her.

As Delilah was about to move away, Dirk took hold of her hand and whispered, "Director Goodman, I guess you wouldn't want your colleagues hearing about you and your husband's matters, right?"

This statement had its impact.

The hand he held ceased to struggle.

The close encounter, paired with the mature woman's unique fragrance, reached Dirk's nose, causing his thoughts to wander.

After all, Delilah was the "object" many single men in the department fantasized about during lonely nights.

"What kind of deal are you proposing?"

Delilah Goodman asked.
