It is rumored that the loyal servant of the crown prince of Tekuan is secretly in love with men. He is sent by the king outside the capital to suppress a rebellion in the north.
Three years later, Fai returns to the capital to take command of the army to stop the kingdom of Shintsuan from invading the west. However, General Fai suddenly sacrifices the imperial army of 250,000 soldiers as bait to lure out the Shintsuan army in order to seize the border city of Ri. Shintsuan acknowledges defeat and negotiates for peace.
Fai is accused of high treason for annihilating the 250,000-strong army for victory. He flees towards the kingdom of Shintsuan, the same kingdom he defeated, to uncover hidden truths about his past and begins his journey through the Five Kingdoms, carrying bitterness in his heart and remaining loyal to the crown prince of Tekuan, whom he considers more of a friend than a master.
The story takes place after the fall of the unified Jin Empire. It follows the crown prince of the empire, Fai Jin, who ends up as the attendant to the crown prince of Tekuan. He harbors deep resentment towards all the dukes and seeks revenge for the downfall of the empire, while grappling with his new reality of serving the prince of Tekuan, which has become a kingdom, and getting involved in power struggles.
