Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Everyone Wants to Step on It

The sky gradually darkened, and Yunyi made herself a small pot of vegetable porridge. These past few days, the original host hadn't eaten properly, and there were no other ingredients in the house. Moreover, Old Master Chu had just been buried, so she didn't want to make too many changes and arouse suspicion.

Just as she finished dishing out the porridge, a voice came from outside the main gate, "Chuyunyi, are you home?"

Yunyi found the voice somewhat familiar but couldn't immediately recall who it belonged to.

The young man standing outside the main gate, seeing it remained closed, was growing impatient and about to knock again when the door finally opened.

Drawing on the original host's memories, Yunyi recognized the cold-faced Qin Jianghui standing outside the main gate. She naturally knew who he was. "What brings you here so late?"

Qin Jianghui, not hearing the usual 'Brother Jianghui,' felt a bit unaccustomed. "My grandfather sent me with a message for you. He wants you to visit our home tomorrow."

Even if the Qin Family members don't invite me, I would have made the trip. However, judging by Qin Jianghui's expression, his mother must have gotten her way.

Without further pleasantries, Yunyi simply nodded. "I understand."

Qin Jianghui wanted to say more, but Yunyi didn't give him the chance. "We've just had a funeral here, so it's not appropriate to invite you in. If there's nothing else, you should head back."

Hearing this, Qin Jianghui's temper flared, his expression turning foul. "I've delivered the message. Don't forget."

With that, he turned and stormed off.

Yunyi curled her lip disdainfully. If Old Master Qin hadn't insisted on arranging this marriage all those years ago, his mother and son wouldn't have had the chance to look down on the original host. They really think they're something special!

After eating and cleaning up, Yunyi strolled around the courtyard to aid her digestion, contemplating her next moves.

She practiced a set of boxing forms in the courtyard. Seeing it was about time, she changed her clothes, preparing to go deal with someone.

Instead of using the main gate, she used a ladder to scale the wall and slip out. She planned to return by climbing a tree and hopping the fence, ensuring minimal noise.

Avoiding being seen, she reached the large communal courtyard ahead. Taking advantage of her spatial ability, she found an opportunity to enter the Sun Family's property and then immediately slipped into her space.

Remembering what the original host had heard from Sun Ruiming, I'm filled with contempt. This family is truly calculating.

That Sun Ruiming even planned to set a trap for the original host, to make her feel so ashamed she'd be at the Sun Family's mercy in the future.

To harm an innocent girl who was utterly devoted to him! It's dreadful to think what would have become of the original host if he had succeeded.

Since he dared to harbor such thoughts, I'll let him experience the consequences of universal condemnation. Giving people a taste of their own medicine is my specialty.

Just then, she heard someone inside the house say, "Ruiming, don't go wandering around these next few days. Visit the Chu Family more often, so no one else beats you to it."

A nonchalant voice replied, "Dad, relax. You know Chuyunyi's attitude towards me. Even when Old Master Chu was alive, he couldn't stop me. Now, whatever I say goes. Don't worry, I've got this figured out."

At this point, the Sun Family's eldest daughter-in-law chimed in, "Third Brother, with Old Master Chu gone, plenty of families around here are eyeing his granddaughter. You can't afford to be careless, or someone might steal her away from under your nose."

Hearing his eldest sister-in-law's words, Sun Ruiming boasted smugly, "She's going to the countryside in a few days. Anyone who tries to make a move will just be wasting their effort."

Then another voice added, "Third Brother, if Chuyunyi is going to the countryside, her house will just be empty, won't it? Could you ask her to lend it to us to live in?"

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone in the room turned to look at Sun Ruiming.
