Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: Colson Clash

Colson was the first to attack, lunging straight at Eric who was now feeling less confident about the dagger in his hand as a behemoth of a teenager charged at him. "Is it too late to reject those sword lessons!?" Eric shouted. He tensed his body in preparation for Colson's attack.

Colson planted his left foot in front of him and swung the greatsword over his shoulder and down at Eric. Before the blade could cut into him, Nasak shoved Eric out of the way and intercepted it with his push broom.

"Dude why are you just standing there?! Haven't you been in a fight before?!" Nasak called out with a strained voice as he tried desperately to stop the greatsword from cutting into his body.

"Sort of, but never in this sort of situation."

"What does that even mean!?" Nasak grunted as he somehow managed to push Colson off of him, or so he thought. What had instead happened was the towering boy pulled his attack back on purpose to strike from a different angle. He used the momentum from Nasak's shove to turn on his heels and hit attack his side with the side of the blade.

He didn't want to kill him after all.

Nasak winced as the blade pushed him to the side knocking him off balance. Before Nasak could recover, Colson was on him again and swung diagonally up his body this time lifting the boy into the air. Eric watched the scene at the side completely frozen.

As bad as this may sound, he had only ever fought people that didn't see him coming and that was normally in the dark. Eric looked down at his ritual dagger then back at Colson and Nasak as Colson grabbed Nasak's leg and slammed him into the ground.

'Well, just standing here won't do much.' Eric gripped his dagger tightly and charged at Colson from behind. A surprise attack was his best chance to do some damage with this little thing. Nasak caught sight of Eric in his peripheral and realized what he was trying to do.

He kicked free from Colson's grip and rolled a few feet away.

'I'll do my best to keep him distracted then.' Nasak smirked and jumped out of the way of a downward swing that smashed into the ground that he was once standing on. Nasak used the quick opening to attack before his opponent could recover.

He swung the broom at Colson's face but it was easily caught by the boy. Nasak was upset that his own attack had failed but still needed to by time for Eric. He planted the other end of the broom on the ground and vaulted off of it to deliver a kick to Colson's gut.

The hit landed bringing a smile to Nasak's face that was immediately dropped as a large hand grabbed his ankle and he realized that the attack didn't work. It was a good thing that Eric was finally ready as the boy leapt at Colson from behind holding his dagger in reverse grip to plunge it into Colson's back.

'Let's hope this works!' Eric pleaded in his thoughts. The pleading didn't work, however, as their opponent focused his Lis into the arm that was holding Nasak's leg then swung Nasak from said leg straight into Eric like a club.

"Watch out!" Nasak tried to warn Eric a second too late as he slammed right into his battle companion. Eric was knocked to the ground and Nasak's leg was released sending him flying into a nearby wall. The force of the attack caused both boys a great deal of pain.

Colson glared at Eric as he lay on the ground in pain. Eric met eyes with the boy then saw him look down at his feet. Eric followed suit and saw his knife laying on the ground. He had dropped it when he was hit. Colson picked up the dagger and began to analyze it.

"This thing was made by some one with real talent and whole lot of bloodlust. Where'd you get something like this?"

"A-a cave." Eric said as he scrambled up from the ground. He looked over at Nasak. He was in far worse condition than Eric was in which makes sense seeing as Eric had only taken one hit while Nasak...well let's just say he tried his best.

Colson's eyebrows lifted intrigued. "A cave, huh? Are you being vague on purpose or do you just not know?" Colson looked up at Eric with just his eyes. Eric turned away from the boy not wanting to meet his eyes again.

Colson shrugged, "Alright, keep your secrets. I'm too frustrated to care about that right now."

Colson looked around the room an movement that worried Eric.

"There it is!" Colson said to himself and walked over to Eric's discarded sword.

"Here." Colson tossed the weapon towards Eric with it landing a bit in front of him. Eric stared at the blade and the boy confused. "Pick it up. Come on, I don't have all day." Eric did as he was instructed and picked the longsword up.

Colson smiled condescendingly at how the boy held his blade. "See? Doesn't that feel a hell of a lot better than this decoration piece?" Eric was still very confused as to what was happening. Why did Colson want him to get the sword? Why was he talking to him instead of lashing out at him?

Was this some sort of game for him?

"Now we can have a real knight's bout!" Colson walked over to his greatsword and lifted it off of the ground. He then extended his blade out at Eric. "Ready your blade, Knight!"

"O-oh, um, I'm not a knight." Eric explained to the boy causing him to roll his eyes.

"I know that dumbass just get ready to fight me!"

"But I also don't know how to use a sword that well yet. I've only been training for a week. Or well, what I thought was training which turned out to be not be true. So I'm not sure if I can give you a 'real knight bout' like you want. Also that knife is a sort of keepsake so could you-"

"Stop talking!" Colson abruptly cut Eric off. Eric stared at the boy still afraid but also confused.

"Why?"

"Because your rambling on and on. I don't want to hear any of that I just want to fight!"

"B-but that's my point, I can't fight you! I can't use a sword!" Eric tried to explain his situation but Colson clearly didn't care for it as he let out an impatient sigh.

"Haven't you been fighting Nasak in here?"

Eric nodded slowly in confirmation.

"Great, then you know how to use a sword! Now shut up and fight me!" Colson was done with conversation. He charged straight at Eric as fast as he could.

Eric stood standing in the same spot unsure as to what he was expected to do. He hadn't really learned anything with the sword and he apparently didn't know how to use a dagger at all! How was he supposed to fight this guy? Could he fight this guy? Maybe this is were his story ends?

"Dude, you're thinking way too much!" Eric felt the hilt of the sword leave his hands then a metallic clang rang out in the room. Eric flinched as sparks flew from the swords clashing.

He opened his eyes and saw Nasak standing in front of him having just parried Colson's attack.

"You want a Knight's Bout?" Nasak grabbed the hilt with both of his hands and held it close to his body. "Then let's have one!" The eyes of the two boys shined as they rushed at each other.

Nasak was the first to swing going for a slash across the chest but the attack was negated by Colson lifting his greatsword and blocking. Colson then immediately countered with a pommel strike that Nasak had seen coming and narrowly avoided.

Colson then started to wind his sword, swinging it like his was paddling a boat, while approaching Nasak. Nasak jumped back to dodge and ran around to the side of the boy. Nasak thrusted his sword at his opponent's armpit but the hit was parried last second which did not surprise Nasak.

In fact, he had expected this outcome which was how he quickly followed up with a kick to Colson's gut. Colson wheezed as the leg pushed into his body and pushed him back. Nasak, seeing his chance, charged at Colson for one final attack.

Nasak went for the classic downward slash as he started to rear his sword behind him. His eyes were burning with passion and he had a wild smile on his face as he swung the blade down at Colson.

Right at that moment, Colson rushed closer to Nasak and shoved him with his shoulder preventing the attack and knocking Nasak off balance just long enough for the boy to hit him with an upward slash that put an end to the bout and knocked the sword out of Nasak's hands.

Eric watched the moment completely awestruck. He had never witness such a beautiful display. The way the blood flew out of Nasak's body and followed the sword as it exited the wound. The size of the cut that was left on Nasak's body and the amount of blood that would pour out afterwards.

Only one word was able to leave the boy's lips.

"Magnificent."

Nasak hit to the ground hard with his sword clattering down a moment after him. Nasak groaned on the ground in pain as he held his wound. It wasn't so deep that it would cause him to bleed out but alongside the other injuries he took in that fight it would definitely leave him out of commission for the rest of the day.

Colson breathed out a relived sigh and looked over to Eric who had his mouth agape in amazement. "That looked really cool, huh?" Eric nodded with his mouth still open. "Go take the real sword lessons then..." Colson swung his greatsword forcefully making Nasak's blood fly off of it.

"Then you might actually learn something!" Colson reached into his pocket and flashed his badge at Eric who hadn't even noticed that the boy wasn't wearing his badge.

It was a red badge like his own but it had "S-2" engraved on it. Colson smirked at the boy one last time before leaving the room and Eric finally realized what had just occurred.

"I just survived a fight against a member of S-class." Small smile appeared on Eric's face. A smile which infuriated Nasak.

"BULLSHIT! YOU DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING!"
