Ben waited for carl outside of his house He has been waiting for him for quite a while now after they made the promise to investigate the mystery together. He told Ben to come to his home at the morning and they would discuss some things about various incidents and cross check facts The main reason Ben even allowed carl to come is simply be because he needs a local guide.
Soon enough carl Did came out of his house wearing new clothes compared to the black ones from last night. Both of them greeted each other and Ben asked
"What Took you so long?"
"Sorry Just trying to convince my parents dad I am going to go out with some new friends"
Ever since the killer has been going around causing mass paranoia This caused many parents to be cautious of letting their kids out of house for long periods of time. They do not want anything Happened to them like many of the previous victims of mysterious killer.
So carl Lied to his parents about going out with friends and he promised them that he would return home before sunset. Ben understood this and just nodded his head clearly understanding why he had to lie to his parents If they knew for the fact that he is going out to search for the killer they would probably have a heart attack.
"So, First order of business is you are going to help me Find basic clues. We will start with basic stuff like Trying to understand the story from different victims perspective"
Carl Nodded his head in understanding as he led the way towards the park
"I understand that And I think the best place to start by interviewing one of my friends whose sister got kidnapped by that serial killer"
Carl said As he clenched his first in anger when he remembered how his friend cried a lot after that incident when his sister gone missing. Ben clearly saw this and understood why he is trying to search for the killer himself he is most likely feeling bad about his friend and wants to find the killer and bring him to justice for what he has done or could have done to his friend's sister.
"So, how did it happen... To his sister I mean... no offense"
Carl Look at Ben and just sighed before telling him the full story. So apparently when he and his sister were sleeping in their room while their parents were sleeping in another room his sister heard some noises outside most likely their dog Was barking at the middle of the night for no reason.
But here is the strange part from Carl's friend Is saying that neither him nor his parents ever heard their dog barking at the middle of the night It was only his sister who heard it. After which she went out to check up on him and never returned and to the room while he was asleep at morning he noticed that his sister was not in the room.
So, carl's Friend assumed that his sister have woken up early and went to his but to his and his parents surprise she is nowhere to be found. And that's where the panic kicked in as they realized their sister and daughter is missing from last night after she went out to search for her dog.
Strangely enough the dog is also stated to be missing as well along with the sister.
"Interesting..."
Ben muttered First thing he did take note of is that apparently this killer can somehow mimic animal noises? But that is questionable considering that the dog also went missing meaning most likely the dog was struggling as the serial killer killed it.
However this raises another question how come the parents and the girl own brother did not hear a thing but only she did?
Does that mean the serial killer actually has Telepathic powers? If so then his earlier assumption that this is no ordinary human serial killer but instead some sort of alien rogue criminal who is roaming about causing people of this town travel his most likely scenario here.
But it still doesn't make any sense why would he particularly target this little girl? Why not go for the adults in the room? Not like Ben wanted him to go for anyone really but still it is not make any sense why this alien would simply target children's?
There is a possibility that this is a predatory type alien in many species especially predator ones targeting children's is considered much easier because they are much smaller and easier prey to them. So maybe this is some weak telepathic Alien who cannot fight human adults but most likely can target children's first.
But Ben cannot be sure about this just yet as this is just an assumption of what he thinks could be the case. Of course there is no concrete evidence to suggest that he is right about this either But he cannot dismiss this theory as well so right now he will wait till victim testimony comes from his friend and then make a judgment.
Soon both of them arrived in the park where very few kids where playing and they were being carefully watched by their parents Or at least most of them were.
"So, Where is your friend"
"Ever Since that incident he has been locked up in his house for the most part and rarely goes out to play with us... But last night after much request I was able to convince him to at least meet you and tell us each side of the story"
Ben looked skeptical about that statement
"So.... Your friend just agreed to it.... just because of me"
Ben can understand that carl's Friend is clearly traumatized after such a incident and does not like to hold leave home that often However it still doesn't make any sense that he would just agree to leave home and meet them in the park after what happened just because Ben is here.
Wait... Did he tell his friend about his powers even though he promised not to?
Carl then told him
"its Not simply the fact that you are here.... In fact I didn't even mention you in our conversation on the phone. He.... He just wants to know what happened to his sister you know and he doesn't care who gives him the news as long as he knows..... What had happened to her..."
Damn That's deep... Now he kinda feels bad for them. Both of them soon entered the park and looked around for the kid
"So, Where is your friend anyways?"
"There!"
Carl Pointed towards a lone kid sitting on a swing all by himself while other children's played around him He looked quite sad and depressed dark circles under his eyes most likely from the lack of sleep.
"Henry!"
The kid now named Henry looked up to see Carl His friend making his way towards him along with a brown haired kid with golden eyes by his side.
"Carl... And who is this?"
Henry said softly Before looking at Ben and questioning his friend about this new kid in town. As he has never seen Ben in this town before so he can only guess that he not from here or at least have Moved here recently.
"Oh... This is my new friend Ben and he's going to help me find and finally catch that killer"
Carl said with up most confidence In his new friend's ability he may not know the full extent of what Ben can do but he just knows for a fact that he can transform into weird but cool looking creatures. And with this power they can easily defeat the serial killer and put his reign of terror to an end.
Henry meanwhile looked pretty surprised by this as he knew that his friend was trying to help him By promising him that he would catch this killer and get answers from him but Henry has always try to stop him from going after the killer.
He did not want his best You get while trying to catch this dangerous criminal. But putting the more depressing thoughts behind he turned his attention to Ben and gave him a smile and said
"Nice too meet you ben And I hope that he is not giving you too much trouble"
"Nah, He is a OK kid just a bit eccentric"
"HEY!"
Both Ben and Henry laughed at carl After their laughter died down Ben then turned to Henry with a bit of a serious expression and asked him
"Henry I think carl Has mentioned why we are here..."
"Yeah..."
Henry said with a sad tone As he knew what Ben was talking about
"I Know that this is going to be a bit hard for you but can you please tell us what happened that night?"
"Well..."
{Flashback}
It was night time and in Henry's house all of his family member were already went to their room and have fallen asleep. Both Henry's parents took one room while him and his sister slept in their own room They also have a family dog who slept outside in his own doghouse.
Henry's older sister by two years And her name is Samantha She and Henry were going to bed When Samantha heard something she immediately turned to Henry and said
"Hey Henry did you hear that"
"Huh? Here what"
"Our Dog is barking genius"
Samantha said with a sarcastic tone as Henry Just groaned at her remark clearly used to her way of speaking though he did not mind as this was a sibling thing between them. But then Henry tried to hear the noises and to his surprise there was no such barking noise outside.
"What are you talking about There is clearly no barking noise..."
Samantha Just Frowned She clearly heard the noises but for some reason Henry cannot
"Are You deaf Our dog is clearly barking Maybe he needs more food?"
This time Henry Frown and said
"Or may be you are too stupid as mom gave him food before they went to sleep"
Samantha actually agreed with Henry that their mother did indeed give their dog food before they went to sleep but she still thought that maybe he needed more food or maybe there is some other thing that is bothering him.
The dog has always been her favorite and her best friend basically which is why she is incredibly worried about him
"I Should go and check it out if something is wrong or not"
Samantha said this as she started getting off of her bed and made her way towards the door of her room Henry seeing this told her
"Are You crazy? If Mom finds out then she would ground you for a week!"
"Don't be Scaredy cat Mom isn't going to find out and I am just going to check up on our dog that's it and I will return home very quickly"
"Fine! But if mom does finds out do not blame me then!"
Henry pouted before he went to sleep He simply thought that Samantha would eventually come back and they would both go back to sleep like usual But unfortunately she never did come back.
{Flashback ends}
"And That's basically what happened..."
Both Ben and carl frowned Hearing that story clearly incredibly saddened by what happened to Henry.
"Do You know anything else? Like some sort of noise or any other form of evidence?"
Ben asked Henry who just shook his head before saying
"No, The inspector said that there is no such evidence in their house nor in their garden It is as if both Samantha and the dog vanished from thin air"
Both carl and ben looked at each other before ben nodded to carl as they have gotten most of the information they wanted. Plus, They doubted that Henry knew anything else that could help them either way.
"Thank You for giving your valuable time for our cause Henry"
Ben said Politely to Henry who nodded and soon started leaving the park and headed home while both the boys sat there thinking about what they have just heard trying to process this information and and find clues.

Ok, Guys another chapter complete and As all of you can see by now I am going with a much more murder mystery why because recently I have been seeing a lot of Netflix shows about detective work so I am trying to see how well I can write my own as well.
By far though even I can tell the quality of writing is quite average to below average at best and I will admit I am trying to improve upon it. But then again this is my first time writing a detective work completely off my own there is like no inspiration here I'm simply trying to create a horror mystery vibe here. So forgive me if the writing is a bit off
