Chen Mei was stunned by his words. She was incredibly embarrassed, and it took her a long moment to force a smile.
"Jiang Ce, don't joke around. I'm being serious," she said.
Jiang Ce spread his hands. "Am I joking? Didn't you just say you'd do anything for me?"
"I like dogs. Aren't you willing to bark a few times to amuse me?"
Chen Mei pleaded anxiously, "Jiang Ce, if you like dogs... I'll buy you a dog. If you want one, I'll have someone get it tomorrow. We can raise it together."
Jiang Ce shook his head. "But I want to hear a dog bark right now."
"But there are so many people around," Chen Mei said, blushing with shame. "I'm a woman, how can I..."
Before she could finish, Jiang Ce stood up.
"You said you'd do anything for me, but if you can't even pass a simple test, then there's no need to continue this conversation."
Seeing Jiang Ce about to leave, Chen Mei panicked. Through gritted teeth, she said, "Wait... just wait! I'll bark!"
