Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: It's Tough to Handle This Traffic!

[Number of satisfied customers: 332/200, daily task completed.]

[Bonus reward obtained: Mapo Tofu Recipe]

Having completed the task for the fourth day, Jiang Feng once again received a new recipe.

Jiang Feng drove his food truck away from Hongshan Park.

At this moment, two young men were still hurrying along the road, looking disheveled.

"It's just ahead, that really delicious rice combo set place!"

"Let's hurry up, or we really won't make it!"

Their speed was extremely fast. By the time they arrived, they just saw Jiang Feng driving the food truck out of the park.

The food truck passed by them.

"No!"

A hint of despair surfaced on one young man's face.

"Boss, how could you close up shop already!"

"How dare you close up shop!"

The two stopped in their tracks, gazing at the food truck's receding figure, on the verge of tears.

Jiang Feng returned to his little shop, cleaned the food truck, and then walked home with his dog, Little Black.

The neighborhood was a bit run-down, and not many people lived there, mostly older folks.

Jiang Feng planned to buy a house after completing his main mission.

The reward for the initial mission was 5,000,000, enough to buy a pretty good house.

The cost of living in the city wasn't high. If he had a bit more money, he could even afford a small villa.

Nowadays, the housing market wasn't thriving; the era of rampant growth in house prices was over.

Better houses would become more expensive in the future, while prices for less desirable ones would keep dropping.

So, if I'm going to buy, I'll buy a good one.

His home was slightly shabby, but Little Black was incredibly happy.

After returning home, Jiang Feng unclipped Little Black's leash, letting him move around freely.

The little fellow didn't go anywhere and just followed Jiang Feng.

While Jiang Feng was cooking in the kitchen, Little Black sat quietly beside him, calmly waiting. He was very well-behaved.

This little guy was indeed smart. As a local breed, he was especially cute as a puppy, making him quite endearing.

「At the same time.」

The sudden popularity of the stall in Hongshan Park had also caught the attention of locals on video-sharing platforms.

There was usually a steady flow of customers there—not too many, not too few.

But the arrival of the supremely delicious rice combo set attracted many visitors, and the number of customers surged instantly.

Some of them posted videos they had shot online.

The videos showed long queues of customers and Jiang Feng busily stir-frying dishes.

They also said in the videos:

"Look at how popular this rice combo set is! From just after 11:00 a.m. until now, the line has never shortened."

"Everyone come and try! This rice combo set is absolutely the best, definitely Executive Chef level!"

"Once you eat it, you'll never forget it!"

Seeing these videos, local residents would ask in the comments section:

"Really? Is it that delicious?"

"Can a street stall attract so many people?"

Some customers who had eaten there replied:

"Trust me, it's totally worth it. This young man's cooking skills are unbeatable!"

"I just ate there today. I've been satisfied all day, and I'm going back tomorrow!"

As everyone chatted in the comments section, many more people became interested in Jiang Feng's rice combo set.

「The following morning.」

Jiang Feng drove his food truck, filled with ingredients, toward Hongshan Park.

Today, even more people were waiting at his usual spot.

The place had indeed become popular.

With more customers, the number of vendors also increased.

Vending spots weren't fixed; it was first come, first served.

When Jiang Feng drove his food truck over, he found that the spot where he used to set up was now taken by a roasted sweet potato vendor and a wonton vendor.

The wonton vendor had set out several tables and small stools, occupying the space completely.

Jiang Feng didn't think much of it.

That's how it is with street vending; you can set up pretty much anywhere.

They arrived early, so there's nothing to be said.

"Executive Chef Jiang is here!" some customers already waiting for him shouted excitedly upon seeing his food truck.

Hearing this, the others also grew excited.

Jiang Feng drove his food truck forward. Instead of setting up at the southeast corner, he headed straight to an open space at the Northeast corner. It looked spacious and had fewer small stalls.

When the customers saw him moving, they all followed.

At this time, the pancake vendor and the candied hawthorn vendor also began packing up their stalls to follow Jiang Feng.

As he left, the pancake vendor couldn't resist snorting disdainfully at the wonton vendor.

"TSK!"

It turned out that when the wonton vendor had arrived earlier, the pancake vendor had told him someone usually occupied that spot and that the customer traffic there was all thanks to that person.

But the wonton vendor had rudely replied, "Is his name written on it? First come, first served."

Hearing the wonton vendor's impolite retort, the pancake vendor was at a loss for words and ultimately said nothing.

The customer flow in this area had been merely adequate, not particularly high.

It was because of Jiang Feng that this spot had become bustling.

Now that other vendors heard this place was thriving, they came early to claim spots.

This was typical of the "cunning" often found in small business owners.

Jiang Feng didn't feel like his spot had been taken. For street vending, any place would do.

He arrived at the Northeast corner, parked the truck, and set up his stall.

Before long, customers began lining up to place their orders.

More customers kept arriving steadily.

Many people first went to the southeast corner, Jiang Feng's old spot. However, they didn't see Jiang Feng, only the new wonton stall that had appeared there.

These people then asked the wonton vendor, "Excuse me, where did the owner who used to sell rice combo sets here go?"

Glancing at the bustling Northeast corner, the wonton vendor lied, "I don't know. I haven't seen him."

At this moment, the pancake vendor, who had returned at some point, was more magnanimous. He directly pointed towards the Northeast corner, saying, "There! He set up his stall over there today!"

Grateful for the pancake vendor's help, the customer thanked him, "Thanks a lot!"

After saying this, the person headed towards the Northeast corner.

The wonton vendor felt a bit helpless.

He was surprised to discover that while the customer flow here was large, the vast majority were here for the rice combo set; hardly anyone looked at anything else.

Occasionally, those in a real hurry didn't have time to sit and eat wontons. Instead, they might buy a pancake to eat on the go.

Just then, two city management officers drove up to the area.

Seeing them, the wonton vendor tensed up immediately.

He thought they were there to inspect his stall's hygiene. If they actually found an issue, that would be bad.

The city management officers walked up to the wonton stall and asked the vendor, "Excuse me, the owner who used to sell rice combo sets here, where did he go?"

The wonton vendor was stunned by their question.

No way... Are the city management officers here for the rice combo set too?

This time, he dared not conceal the truth and pointed towards the Northeast corner. "Over there! He set up there today!"

Hearing his response, the two city management officers muttered to each other:

"Why did he move over there today? It's a bit further to walk."

"Could it be that there are too many stalls now, and his spot was taken?"

"Possibly. We need to keep a closer eye on the stalls in this area. With so many people, it's already getting a bit chaotic."

"Let's come by and inspect tomorrow."

As they spoke, they walked towards Jiang Feng's stall.

The wonton vendor's heart pounded with anxiety as he listened to their conversation.

I'd better not come tomorrow. This kind of attention is too much to handle!
