Gojo Satoru's confidence as the strongest sorcerer was unwavering. He didn't even bother removing his blindfold, though with the Six Eyes, the difference between wearing it and not was negligible.
"Well then, I won't hold back." Seeing Gojo's self-assured demeanor, Daniel Davis decided to act without reservation. With Gojo standing casually, hands still in his pockets and a smile on his face, Daniel used Soru to close the distance in an instant, aiming a knife-hand strike at the back of Gojo's neck.
As this was just a spar, Daniel refrained from using his full power. Even so, Gojo was surprised by the sheer speed—so fast that even his Six Eyes barely registered it.
"Huh?" Daniel made a startled sound as his hand neared Gojo's neck. It wasn't something he expected in battle. The closer his strike came to Gojo, the slower it moved, as if wading through thickening air. Realizing this, Daniel used Soru again to retreat.
"That was fast—really gave me a scare. Lucky I always keep my technique active," Gojo said, finally removing his hands from his pockets after Daniel reappeared a short distance away.
"You surprised me too. That ability of yours is truly overpowered."
For someone unfamiliar with Gojo's powers, deciphering his technique on a first encounter would be challenging. But Daniel wasn't a typical fighter. His background in Kamar-Taj magic, combined with extensive study of the Space Stone, had given him profound insight into spatial manipulation.
Thus, even during this brief exchange, Daniel deduced the core of Gojo's ability: space.
What astonished him, however, was how Gojo applied it—by creating infinite spatial division. As Daniel had attempted to strike, the space surrounding Gojo extended infinitely. Although visually close, Daniel's hand was effectively an infinite distance away.
It was akin to Zeno's paradox, where infinite subdivisions prevent Achilles from overtaking the tortoise. While Gojo's power wasn't literally infinite, its practical applications were overwhelming—far surpassing even Obito's Kamui.
For Daniel, encountering this technique was an eye-opener. It presented a new perspective on spatial manipulation, inspiring him to consider similar applications in his own arsenal.
"If space can be manipulated this way, what about time?" Daniel mused, pondering whether the concept could extend to temporal abilities.
Unbeknownst to him, this line of thinking mirrored the powers of a certain reclusive princess, embodying the concepts of eternity and ephemerality.
"You really aren't from the jujutsu world, are you? It's clear you have no knowledge of the Gojo clan's Limitless Cursed Technique," Gojo observed with a knowing smile, noticing Daniel's surprise at his ability.
"Care to explain?" Daniel asked.
"Of course." Gojo obligingly described the principles behind his Limitless technique. As Daniel had guessed, the technique involved infinitely dividing a finite space, creating the paradoxical effect of unattainable proximity.
However, because it was a paradox, it had its limits. Much like how Achilles eventually overtakes the tortoise in real life, Gojo's technique wasn't invincible. It could be bypassed, though achieving this in the Jujutsu Kaisen world was nearly impossible.
"Fascinating," Daniel remarked, intrigued by Gojo's candid explanation. "I'd love to study it more closely." Understanding the method was one thing, but observing it firsthand would be invaluable.
"Well, prepare yourself!" Gojo warned, his tone playful yet serious.
Eager to test Gojo's defense further, Daniel vanished and reappeared behind him, replicating his earlier strike. He aimed for the back of Gojo's neck with the same speed and strength as before.
"Hm, stronger this time." Daniel immediately noticed a difference. Gojo's Limitless barrier felt more robust. Gojo had leveraged a unique quirk of the jujutsu world—revealing details of a technique often enhanced its power.
"Don't get too comfortable! Cursed Technique Reversal: Red!" Gojo counterattacked with a powerful repulsion force centered on himself, sending a massive wave of energy hurtling toward Daniel.
Sensing the immense force, Daniel flickered away using Soru. A split second later, the wave obliterated a massive boulder behind him.
"Repulsion, huh? That's almost like Shinra Tensei from the Rinnegan," Daniel noted. He also saw parallels with the Gravity Fruit wielded by Fujitora. The potential of gravity-based powers often depended on the creativity of their user.
Likewise, he considered other Devil Fruits, like Ace's Flame-Flame Fruit. While magma was technically hotter than ordinary fire, Daniel believed Ace could've elevated his fruit's capabilities to rival Akainu's, especially with advanced development.
The battle between Daniel and Gojo grew increasingly intense, though it mostly involved Gojo's relentless attacks and Daniel dodging or deflecting them. Gojo's Limitless technique remained an unyielding barrier, preventing Daniel from landing a direct hit.
Conversely, none of Gojo's devastating attacks managed to connect with Daniel. The mountain, however, bore the brunt of their clash, its rocky landscape left in ruins.
"This Limitless technique is even more annoying than Kamui," Daniel muttered. While Kamui could be exploited with precise timing, Gojo's technique made physical contact nearly impossible without a direct counter.
"Cursed Technique: Blue!" Gojo unleashed another large-scale attack, this time generating an implosion of overwhelming gravitational pull. The surrounding area erupted in a powerful explosion, the shockwave ripping through the mountain.
"Good thing I planted Flying Thunder God seals earlier," Daniel thought as he teleported away. Without this contingency, evading such a wide-range attack would've been challenging.
As the dust settled, Gojo stood amid the wreckage, surrounded by smoke. A calm voice spoke from behind him.
"This ends now."
A hand rested on Gojo's shoulder, bypassing his supposedly impenetrable defense. Startled, Gojo turned to find Daniel standing there.
"Your Limitless technique has a limit," Daniel explained. "It's all about finding that threshold—and I happen to have some experience with spatial manipulation."
"I see." Gojo was silent for a moment before sighing deeply. "I lost."
His candid admission reflected his personality. While Gojo's pride in being the strongest sorcerer was evident, he wasn't so obsessed with the title that defeat would devastate him. He even smiled, albeit wryly.
"Well, now that you've beaten me, will you finally explain who you are?"
Daniel considered his response for a moment before deciding to reveal part of the truth. "Ever heard of parallel worlds or the multiverse? I'm just a traveler passing through."
"Parallel worlds?" Gojo's interest was piqued. Normally, he would've dismissed such a claim, but after witnessing Daniel's abilities, he found it plausible.
"Yes," Daniel affirmed.
"That's… fascinating." Gojo fell into thought, his curiosity about the multiverse evident.
"What's your purpose here?" he asked after a moment.
"I told you—I'm a traveler, exploring different worlds," Daniel replied. He didn't mention his secondary goal of self-improvement.
"How do you see this world?" Gojo pressed.
"Honestly, I don't know enough to say. I've only just arrived."
"Then let me tell you." Gojo proceeded to explain the state of the jujutsu world and its struggles. He ended with a question: "If you were me, could you find a way to end curses once and for all?"
So that's what this was about. Gojo's desire to eradicate curses was shared by many, including Suguru Geto and Yuki Tsukumo. While Geto's methods were extreme, Gojo's intentions aligned more with justice and preservation.
Daniel pondered the question. "Curses are born from negative human emotions. Eliminating them completely would require eliminating humanity's darker aspects. It's a noble goal, but…"
"But nearly impossible," Gojo finished, nodding in agreement.
Daniel added, "However, Yuji Itadori's unique situation with Sukuna might hold the key. If he can suppress Sukuna's power, perhaps there's a way forward."
Gojo's eyes sparkled with renewed determination. "Interesting. Maybe you're right."
With that, their conversation ended, though the implications of their meeting would linger in Gojo's mind for a long time.
