Chapter 592 - Chapter 591: Cursed Energy and Agreements (Part 2)

Daniel Davis prepared the philosopher's stone transmutation circle, a tool he hadn't used in a long time. This was his first time attempting to use it on a curse, but the situation called for such measures.

Curses, though born from humanity's negative emotions, were undeniable enemies of humans, akin to the demons in Demon Slayer. While some exceptions might exist, like Tamayo or Nezuko, the overarching dynamic between humans and curses was irreconcilable.

As a human, Daniel naturally opposed curses. While he couldn't eliminate all the curses in this world, he could deal with Sukuna and other special grade curses to reduce the overall threat.

Even the strongest, like Satoru Gojo, had their vulnerabilities. Despite his overwhelming strength, Gojo could be sealed, as was evident in the events that followed. Seal techniques often turned the tide against seemingly invincible foes—be it curses or immortals like Kaguya Otsutsuki.

"Let's begin."

After drawing the transmutation circle, Daniel placed Sukuna's cursed finger at its center and activated the array. Though the circle was only palm-sized, the process required significant energy input.

At first, the finger remained inert, but soon it began to react. Simultaneously, Daniel felt the energy he poured into the transmutation circle being consumed at an alarming rate.

For ordinary objects or beings, the transmutation circle would have been overwhelming. But Sukuna was far from ordinary. As the King of Curses from a thousand years ago, his soul was immensely powerful. Only someone as unique as Gojo could stand against him if he were fully resurrected.

Gojo's power wasn't solely due to his Limitless technique or Six Eyes. His very existence was extraordinary. While others in the Gojo family had occasionally inherited both abilities, none had reached his level of mastery or strength.

"Argh!"

With a guttural roar, a spectral figure emerged from the cursed finger. It bore a resemblance to Yuji Itadori, but with distinct differences.

"You… who are you? How is this possible?" Sukuna's soul manifested, his expression a mixture of shock and fury.

Before he could finish speaking, his visage twisted in agony. The energy from the transmutation circle ravaged his soul, forcing him into a state of torment.

For Sukuna, this was unimaginable. As a being of unparalleled strength, the idea of someone directly attacking his soul was unthinkable. Even Jogo, a special grade curse with notable expertise in soul manipulation, had been effortlessly subdued by Sukuna with a mere scoff. Yet now, Sukuna's soul was helpless.

"Impossible… this can't be happening!" Sukuna's soul contorted and struggled before finally succumbing. The transmutation circle's energy coalesced his essence into a small red philosopher's stone, pulsating with immense power.

Far away, within the recesses of Yuji Itadori's subconscious, Sukuna's remaining essence sensed the destruction of his finger. Seated upon his throne, Sukuna's expression darkened as he leapt to his feet.

The disappearance of his finger marked a profound loss. Though he had always been confident in his eventual resurrection, this unforeseen development rattled him. The destruction of a cursed object bound by such powerful restrictions was supposed to be impossible.

Sukuna had been nonchalant about Yuji's ability to suppress him, knowing that even if Yuji died prematurely, only a few fingers would be lost. However, the annihilation of a finger's essence meant a permanent reduction of his strength.

Despite his rising anger and unease, Sukuna remained trapped within Yuji's body, powerless to act without Yuji's consent.

"So, this is the power of the King of Curses' soul," Daniel muttered, holding the philosopher's stone in his hand. Sukuna's essence within the stone radiated incredible energy, further piquing Daniel's interest.

He mused about the potential of other cursed fingers. Philosopher's stones, with their versatility—be it for alchemical refinement, healing, or extending lifespans—were an invaluable resource.

Turning to the ordinary curses he had captured earlier, Daniel attempted to replicate the process but found no success. These curses lacked souls, being mere manifestations of negative emotions. Only exceptional beings, like special grade curses, likely possessed souls.

"Did you really destroy Sukuna's finger?" Gojo asked in disbelief upon hearing Daniel's report.

Though Gojo had given the finger to Daniel, his faith in a successful outcome was limited. Even Gojo, despite his strength, had failed to destroy Sukuna's cursed objects in the past.

"I already reduced it to ashes. If you want proof, I'm afraid there's nothing left to show. However, I can now extract Sukuna's essence from Yuji whenever you're ready," Daniel replied confidently.

Gojo fell silent, weighing the implications. Unlike the jujutsu higher-ups, who prioritized eliminating Yuji as a vessel for Sukuna, Gojo saw Yuji's potential. If Daniel could truly separate Sukuna from Yuji, it would grant the latter a chance to lead a normal life.

"Let's do it," Gojo said after some deliberation.

"Yuji, come here for a moment," Gojo called.

Yuji, who had been resting after completing a mission with Fushiguro and Kugisaki, immediately ran over.

"What's up, Gojo-sensei?"

"Let Sukuna out. I need to speak with him. Don't worry, it'll only take five minutes," Gojo reassured him with a smile.

"Got it."

Trusting Gojo completely, Yuji complied. Though he had always been a normal high schooler with exceptional athleticism, he understood his unique role in the jujutsu world. His decision to join Jujutsu High had been influenced heavily by his grandfather's dying wish.

As Sukuna manifested, his body adorned with black tattoos and a new set of eyes below his originals, he immediately fixed his gaze on Daniel and Gojo.

"How did you… What have you done?" Sukuna growled, barely containing his fury.

"Talking about your fingers, are you? Don't worry—you're about to find out," Gojo replied, nodding at Daniel.

Smack!

With a single palm strike to Yuji's chest, Daniel expelled Sukuna's spirit from Yuji's body. The cursed king's spectral form floated in the air, visibly disoriented.

"This… this is impossible!" Sukuna stammered, glancing around in disbelief.

Daniel wasted no time. Using Binding Spirit Command—one of the Eight Mystical Techniques—he subdued Sukuna's soul, compressing it into a glowing orb in his palm.

"Now I could even use Sukuna as a shikigami if I wanted," Daniel mused.

He had learned from Gojo that Sukuna wasn't always a curse. A thousand years ago, Sukuna had been a human sorcerer, renowned not only for his power but also for his culinary skills. His domain, often mistaken for a shrine, was actually a massive kitchen.

"Got any parting words for Sukuna?" Daniel asked, holding the orb aloft.

"Have a nice trip," Gojo said cheerfully, flashing a radiant smile.

"You—!" Sukuna began, but Daniel crushed the orb in his hand, obliterating the curse's essence.

Though Daniel could have kept Sukuna as a shikigami or absorbed his essence, he chose not to. Binding spirits didn't align with his principles, and he wasn't about to compromise them for power.

With Sukuna gone, Yuji's body returned to normal, his soul firmly in control.

"Sukuna's… dead?" Fushiguro muttered, struggling to process the outcome.

In contrast, Yuji and Kugisaki seemed less shocked, lacking the same depth of knowledge about Sukuna's legend.

"Don't be so surprised," Gojo reassured them. "Sukuna wasn't immortal. He survived because we lacked the means to kill him—until now."

Yuji and Kugisaki, however, seemed more fixated on the implications.

"Doesn't this mean… Daniel's stronger than you, Gojo-sensei?" they asked in unison.

"Impossible! Gojo-sensei is the strongest!" Fushiguro immediately interjected, unable to accept otherwise.

"I'm not stronger than Gojo. Our strengths simply lie in different areas. I specialize in breaking curses and bindings," Daniel explained, deliberately preserving Gojo's reputation as the strongest sorcerer.
