Chapter 593 - Chapter 592: Cursed Energy and Agreements (Conclusion)

Upon hearing Daniel's explanation, Megumi Fushiguro nodded in understanding. To him, this reasoning aligned with how different sorcerers specialized in various skills. For instance, Master Tengen excelled in sustaining the barrier around Jujutsu High. Similarly, cursed energy quantity didn't directly correlate with combat ability. It was said that Yuta Okkotsu possessed more cursed energy than Satoru Gojo, yet he couldn't defeat him.

There were even rumors of a suspended third-year student at Jujutsu High, whose strength in their prime rivaled Yuta's. Despite the official recognition of only four special-grade sorcerers, numerous others with comparable strength remained unaccounted for.

Gojo's lower cursed energy reserves were offset by the Six Eyes, which minimized his cursed energy consumption. This efficiency made him unbeatable, even in prolonged battles.

"Yuji's luck isn't bad," Daniel remarked. "He can continue consuming Sukuna's fingers, allowing me to handle the resulting souls. This way, he can inherit Sukuna's cursed energy without the risks."

While Daniel found creating philosopher's stones from Sukuna's fingers valuable, empowering Yuji to inherit Sukuna's abilities aligned better with the world's needs. After all, this was their world, and it required strong individuals to combat curses. Even if Daniel eliminated several special-grade curses, the negative emotions of humanity would inevitably spawn more.

Unlike Demon Slayer, which had a clear source of evil in Muzan Kibutsuji, curses in this world originated from humanity itself. Eradicating humanity wasn't an option—nor was it a solution, even to someone as radical as Thanos.

"This depends on whether Yuji wants to remain a sorcerer," Gojo replied.

Being a sorcerer was far from glamorous. Despite the high pay, the constant danger made it an unenviable profession. A common saying among sorcerers was that none died without regrets. Many sorcerers opted to retire and integrate into normal society. Even Nanami Kento, a first-grade sorcerer, had temporarily left to work as an office employee before returning to the field.

Currently, Yuji's death sentence had been lifted. Without Sukuna's influence, he could choose to return to his normal life. However, such a choice wouldn't grant him immunity from the attention of curses, cursed spirits, and the Jujutsu world.

"What are you guys talking about?" Yuji asked, bewildered by the conversation between Gojo and Daniel.

"It's simple," Gojo began. "Without Sukuna, your death sentence has been rescinded. You can return to your old school and live a normal life if you want."

This wasn't entirely true. While Yuji was technically free, his unique condition made him invaluable. The higher-ups wouldn't let him go so easily. Moreover, cursed spirits and rogue sorcerers already knew of Yuji's existence and the connection to Sukuna. His name had spread far and wide within the Jujutsu world.

Cursed spirits and rogue sorcerers alike yearned for Sukuna's revival. Gojo's overwhelming strength had suppressed them for years, making Sukuna a symbol of hope for their cause.

"Really? Then what about Sukuna's other fingers?" Yuji asked.

"That's our problem to solve," Gojo assured him.

If Yuji genuinely desired a normal life, Gojo would have supported him, especially now that Daniel's presence ensured Sukuna's complete eradication.

"But… isn't it only me who can fully deal with Sukuna's fingers?" Yuji questioned hesitantly, aware of his unique capability.

"You're right," Gojo admitted.

"Then I guess I'll continue." Yuji flashed a determined smile. "Got any more fingers?"

"Yuji, think carefully about this," Fushiguro urged. "Being a sorcerer is dangerous. What we faced before might only be the beginning."

"Exactly," Kugisaki added.

Yuji shook his head. "You're not afraid of the danger, so why should I be? Besides, this way, I can save more people."

His grandfather's dying words still resonated deeply, shaping Yuji's heroic ideals.

"If you've made up your mind, that's fine," Gojo said. "But this time, you don't need to worry about Sukuna taking over. We'll handle his soul while you focus on mastering his cursed energy."

Turning to Megumi, Gojo teased, "You better keep up, Megumi. At this rate, Yuji might surpass you soon."

Megumi nodded resolutely. "I'll do my best."

"Do we really have to destroy Sukuna completely?" Yuji asked suddenly, drawing everyone's attention.

"You're still naïve," Daniel said bluntly. "Have you forgotten that Sukuna nearly killed Megumi the last time he emerged? Do you want to wait until he succeeds before acting?"

Yuji's hesitation wasn't unexpected. He had been an ordinary high school student before entering the Jujutsu world.

"You should educate him on Sukuna's past deeds," Daniel suggested to Gojo. "He needs to understand exactly who Sukuna is to avoid any misplaced sympathy or dangerous bargains."

Gojo's expression turned serious. "Good point. Megumi, Kugisaki—make sure Yuji knows everything about Sukuna and the Jujutsu world's taboos."

Jujutsu binding vows were powerful tools, much like the Hunter x Hunter concept of Nen Contracts. Properly structured, they could exponentially increase one's power. However, misuse could lead to disastrous consequences.

"I understand," Megumi said solemnly. Daniel's reminder highlighted the importance of ensuring Yuji fully grasped the stakes.

"By the way, don't tell anyone about Sukuna's destruction," Gojo added as Megumi prepared to leave with Yuji and Kugisaki.

"Understood, Gojo-sensei," Megumi replied before leading the others away.

"I need to retrieve the fingers," Gojo said after they departed.

Using the recent mishap orchestrated by the higher-ups as leverage, Gojo planned to secure the remaining Sukuna fingers under Jujutsu High's control. Though the higher-ups begrudgingly agreed, they refused to relinquish all of them.

Soon, Yuji consumed another finger. This time, Sukuna, reappearing in Yuji's domain, wore a sullen expression. The knowledge that his demise was inevitable gnawed at him. Unable to act, Sukuna was reduced to a spectator, awaiting the day his existence would be completely erased.

Thanks to Megumi's timely education, Yuji harbored no delusions about Sukuna. He remained vigilant, ensuring the King of Curses never regained control.

"This residue is fascinating," Gojo remarked as he and Daniel investigated a burnt-down family restaurant in Shibuya.

"What do you mean?" Daniel asked.

"It's not about strength but precision. The cursed residue is minimal, as if the culprits knew how to counter my Six Eyes."

Gojo's Six Eyes were unparalleled in tracking curses and sorcerers. The meticulous effort to erase residue suggested the perpetrators were highly knowledgeable about his abilities.

"Your reputation precedes you. It's only natural that someone would develop countermeasures," Daniel replied.

"True. Still, to operate so boldly yet carefully… it's intriguing," Gojo mused.

Despite his interest, Gojo didn't dwell on it. The incident had come to Jujutsu High's attention after a restaurant employee reported sensing a terrifying presence before fleeing the scene. The police, noticing the employee's suspicious behavior, flagged it for investigation.

Fortunately, the employee's actions saved their life. A kind-hearted individual supporting four younger siblings, their survival seemed almost providential. Recognizing this, Gojo arranged a secure and well-paying job for them within one of his family's many businesses.

"Let's leave the rest to the auxiliary window staff," Gojo said, referring to the organization that supported sorcerers by scouting and investigating potential curses. "It's time to check on Megumi's sister."
