Chapter 4 - Fighting Birds

Just as Damon shouted those words, a gut feeling made him look up. The next second he was diving out the way as a dark brown and black spider beast launched from the tree above.

"Holy fuck." Raya shouted backing up.

Grey and white clouds formed above and heavy rain poured down before Damon could roll to his feet.

"Increase."

His entire body buffed up. With him being without a shirt, his expanding small muscles was easily seen which made Raya look twice as Damon backed up beside her.

The spider beast screeched loudly while moving its pincer like jaws. It's many eyes shifted around briefly before all eight was set on them.

"What do we do?" Spoke Rayla.

"Isn't it obvious, we fight or die, its no way we're outrunning this thing. " Damon responded not knowing Raya was already in running motion headed the other way.

The spider was in front of Damon within no time. With a swipe from its two front legs, it knocked Damon back before running after Raya.

The wind was knocked out of him, but he was fine. Staggering to his feet, he bolted off behind them not knowing what he would even do. Ten or so meters in his pursuit, he could see the large spider stabbing its legs in the ground trying to pirece a rolling figure.

Raya rolled from side to side barely dodging its strikes. Running full speed Damon jumped on its back making the spider thrash and throw its legs wildly while bashing its body against any and everything in its path.

Grabbing on to the long thin hair all over its body, Damon held on tight, but not tight enough as the spider flipped and rolled while spraying out tons of webs that shot everywhere.

Thankfully the heavy rain pouring down affected its mobility, just slightly as its legs were sliding thanks to the mud the rain made as it hit the ground.

Standing to her feet, Raya charged forward just as the spider beast managed to get Damon off and pin him to the ground. It's pincers snapped forward, but instead of biting off Damon's arm as he reached out trying to push it off. It's jaws clinched down on the iron rod instead.

Damon kicked and pushed in that brief moment sliding from under the beast. Grabbing a large branch on the ground, he pulled back and swung with everything he had sweeping a couple of the spiders legs making it crumble to the ground off balance.

The spider was right back up as quick as it fell, but Raya was able to pull the rod back and stabbed it forward penetrating one of the spider eyes. Damon continued to swing, missing more times than he could hit as the beast backed away with the rod still stuck in its head where one of its eyes use to be.

It climbed the nearest tree disappearing in the high branches leaving them both breathing heavily and looking up trying to see the slightest movements.

"This is our chance, let's go."

Like a few times already, Raya was already running. Not surprised, Damon followed behind her.

"Damn she's fast, even with my increased speed thanks to my rain im barely keeping up." He thought dodging tree after tree as they weaved through the forest.

They were covering a good distance, at least they believed they were, until a silky white thick thread shot out from above wrapping up Raya's legs making her fall forward into a rough roll.

Another blotch of webs shot out in which Damon dodged, but more followed. One of his legs were hit and then his torso. Falling to the ground, he pulled on the webs not thinking he was making things worse. His hands were now stuck against his chest as he was now on the ground in a awkward and vulnerable position.

Looking up, a brown and black spider the size of a small car with a iron rod protruding from one of its eyes slowly descended from the top of the trees from a thin web. It's legs and pincers twitched and moved as it got closer to Raya who wasn't moving.

Damon could see blood running down her face, coming from her head.

"Raya, get up, wake up its coming. Damn it, she's out cold. "

Damon contorted his body as best as he could to look up at the clouds that produced the rain and concentrated making the rain heavier. He visualized creating attacks with the rain, the rain turning into small little drops of acid and ice, but nothing happened. The rain only increased at the rate it came crashing down.

"Do something, change damn it. This cant be my power. It has to do something, anything but this. What the hell is this good for ?" He cursed and questioned.

The spider had made it to Raya and had began twirling her body, wrapping her up in webs. Damon banged his head against the ground as silent tears ran down his face.

"This is it, escaped a lunatic just to get packed up like a to go plate by this fucking thing. " He said in aggrevation and in complete defeat.

His body wasn't completely covered in webs, but it didn't matter. The webs were too strong and they were too weak to do anything but let nature take its course. The spider was now making its way to Damon and only a few feet away.

Dropping his head in the mud he exhaled and closed his eyes in wait of his demise. It was no use, he had awakened months ago and had been trying to stay positive about his ability since then.

He trained his mind hard every day up till his kidnapping in order to figure out what his ability could do besides create rain. Literal rain, it was nothing special about the rain. It was just water that fell from the clouds.

"I wasn't able to change nothing about it back then, Just because im in the situation doesn't mean everything will miraculous change now." He thought feeling the spider shadow loom over him.

Damon had accepted his fate and he was truly prepared to let it all go when heavy speeding foot steps could be heard. The next moment Jasper was ramming his shoulder into the spider knocking it back several feet.

Damon brows furrowed in confusion as the spider and Jasper pushed against each other. Jasper held on to the long pincers near it's mouth like he was gripping handlebars on a bike.

Planting his feet firmly on the ground, he withstood the spider strength to push back.

"Arrrg, help...Damon can you move?"

Snapping out of his current thoughts Damon eyes widened with eagerness. With all his increased strength, Damon's arms shook as he pulled against the webs trying to free them.

His face puffed up with air as he pulled and veins crawled on his forehead and arms.

"Come on, I can do this....must....do...something. " He spoke while grunting in between words.

Jasper had begun to get pushed back, the many legs of the spider proved to have way more leverage, plus Jasper was focusing on keeping its pincers from closing inward towards its mouth while also pushing it back.

Damon pulled and pulled finally breaking the sticky threads. Once broke, the webs seem to lose a great deal of their strength making Damon's escape easier. Crawling to his feet, he rushed over grabbing the rod that Raya stabbed in one of its eyes.

Yanking back and forth attempting to pull it out caused great pain for the beast making it move and attempt to attack with its other legs. However, the moment it focused on trying to stab and push Damon back. Jasper was able to gain more leverage which made the spider heavily off balance.

The second it was, the air around Jasper changed, his arms and legs became encased in a thin red energy. He squatted down and pushed with everything he had turning the spider on its back. In doing so, the rod Damon had a firm grip on twisted and pulled out as the spider flipped.

Damon wasted no time in stabbing the beast undercarriage in which he could instantly feel was way softer than its top half. Stab after stab sent the beast in a panic making it spew webs out of its butt attempting to hit them, but it was futile.

Jasper's fists glowed red as he landed one punch after another. Together they both struck with great force and precision turning the spider body into a complete mess. On jasper's end the spider was dented up and pushed inward while on Damon's side, it was a plethora of holes and oozing puss that seeped out with each strike.

They eventually stopped with heavy breaths, Damon couldn't feel his arms and neither could Jasper. Looking over to the perfectly wrapped cocoon Raya was inside. They ran over cutting away the webs. Damon used the poker rod to cut the webs while Jasper grabbed and pulled them apart.

"She's still breathing, quick let's sit her up." Damon said after checking her pulse.

After sitting her up against a tree, they both sat beside her catching they're breaths.

"We should move, I managed to escape from the one that captured me, but it was more in the area. We aren't safe here." Jasper spoke. He began holding out his tongue letting the rain enter his mouth, as he was beyond parched.

Damon did the same before responding.

"Ok, we take turns carrying her. I'll take first shift." Damon said while positioning himself to pick her up. Damon was a bit scrawny, but still strong. Throwing her over his shoulder, he wobbled a bit before catching his balance and began to move.
