Chapter 35 - Entrancing Eyes

Thea stepped into the living room, and her gaze fell upon her grandmother, Grace, seated serenely on the couch.

"Were you waiting for me Grandma?"

Grandma Grace's face broke into a mischievous smile. "No, who said I was waiting for you?"

Thea's eyes sparkled with playful hurt as she dramatically clutched her heart. "Grandma, I'm hurt!"

"Let's see... what do I have for you today?"

Thea lifted the lid of the box, revealing an array of golden, flaky pastries.

"Ta-da!" she said with a flourish. Grandma Grace's eyes lit up, sparkling with delight at the sight of her favorite treats.

Thea smiled, happy to have pleased her grandmother. "There's a new bakery shop opened, so I thought of bringing something for us to try.."

She set the box of pastries down on the coffee table, next to the bag of painting supplies.

"Go ahead and have your dinner. I warmed it up for you just before you got here. We'll save the desserts for afterwards."
