He stopped right away, the assignment etched on his face. "What's wrong, Jacqueline?"
I took a deep breath, looking for my emotions. "I can't do this. Not now. It's not the right time."
He seemed into my eyes, understanding dawning on his face. "I'm sorry, Jacqueline. I don't want to rush you or make you uncomfortable."
I shook my head, feeling tears welling up. "It's no longer something that I don't want to do. It's honest… there are a lot of problems going on now. I need time to be properly fine and good , to experience this with you."
Nathan cupped my face in his palms, his contact mild and reassuring. "I understand. And I recognize that. I don't need to push you into something you're not prepared for now."
I nodded, grateful for his records. "Thank you, Nathan. I truly need a while."
He smiled softly, brushing a tear from my cheek. "Take all the time you need. I'll be right here, regardless of what."
