Chapter 30 - Code Demize

Lan Xichen cried as pain surged through his body. He clenched his fists, tears flowing down his face as he held the knives that had been driven through his thighs. The room was drenched in a murderous presence that made the air itself tremble; blood flooded the floor as Lao Zhan rushed down the stairs to help him.

"Get the first-aid kit and call the doctor," he rasped, blood trickling from his lips.

He grabbed napkins from the table and used them to apply pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding. I sneered, watching the scene unfold, then turned to leave. I stopped after taking a few steps and turned back to look at Lao Zhan, who was busy applying pressure to stop the bleeding.

"Next time that hoe of yours becomes a fly in front of me, it won't be just knives in his thighs.

I'll skin him alive and use his skin to make a human lamb for my warehouse.

Lately it's been feeling a bit empty; bet a human lamb will make it gorgeous," I said, an eerie grin spread across my face, slow and unnatural.

I turned away, satisfied, and left the house, my face and shirt streaked with blood. The moment I stepped out the house, I reached out for my car keys from my right pocket. I pressed the unlock button on my fob; the car chirped and the doors clicked open.

🎵 I'm so sick of this… ♫ 🎶 Fake love, fake love, fake love… ♫ 🎵 I'm so sorry… but it's… ♫ 🎶 Fake love, fake love, fake love… ♫ My phone rang before I could get into the car.

"What is it?" I said, my voice cold as interstellar ice, sharp and annoyed, not in the mood for chit-chat.

"Oh! Calm down, little Zhao. It's Wang Xiao. We're supposed to be racing today — or can't you make it?" he said over the phone, his teasing smirk audible even through the line.

"Oh! Sorry about that. Give me fifteen minutes, and I'll be there," I said, cutting the call.

Keys in hand, I slid into the car and started the engine, tires crunching against the pavement as I drove off. When I got there, I was so surprised to see he had brought Li Wei with him. "Li Wei!" I shouted, unable to contain my excitement. I ran to hug him only to be stopped by Wang Xiao. "Get your ugly ass out of my way, I want to hug my cute baby." I said, annoyed as I tried to push him out of the way.

I was busy arguing with Wang Xiao when I noticed a strange black car parked not far from the race track. Not long after, I saw a red dot appear on Wang Xiao's chest. Without thinking, I rushed to him and threw myself in front of him. A gunshot rang out — the bullet hit my chest.

Xiao Zha, who had just arrived, dropped everything she was holding and ran to me as I collapsed to the ground. Her face went pale when she saw me lying in a pool of blood, showing no signs of life. She scooped me up and ran to the car, with Wang Xiao and Li Wei following closely behind.

Wang Xiao slid into the driver's seat while Li Wei helped Xiao Zha get me inside. She pressed her shirt against my wound, trying desperately to slow the bleeding. As they sped toward the hospital, every second felt endless.

When we arrived, the doctors were already waiting at the entrance. They carefully lifted me out of the car and rushed me straight to the OR. Xiao Zha tried to call Lao Zhan only for his phone to go straight to voicemail. She called all the members of Dracula Empire in the Beijing branch and told them it was code Demize.

All the streets in Beijing were filled with mafia gangs, it was a total lock down. The government couldn't do anything about it or it will be a war.
