Chapter 170 - Chapter 160: The First Kill

Chapter 160: The First Kill

The skill to beguile the mind doesn't have a strong effect on the undead.

The undead have no hearts, which is a well-known fact.

Gu Xi didn't aim to hypnotize the enemy, just to make them dazed for a moment.

Sure enough, as Gu Xi made a move, the abomination resisting the concentrated fire of the skeletal archers suddenly paused.

The iron rod in his hand swung noticeably slower, and at this moment, the skeletal archer leader launched a second wave of concentrated fire.

This time, the abomination couldn't block these attacks, and over a hundred arrows all struck his face.

If it weren't for the abomination's inherently strong vitality, he might have died from this alone.

The abomination was now enraged.

He no longer cared about ambushes and charged towards Gu Xi with his iron rod raised.

Gu Xi pointed at the abomination.

Wrath of the Dead!

Numerous arms and tentacles emerged from the ground, tightly gripping the abomination's legs, preventing him from moving forward.

Then the regular skeletons noticed the situation with the abomination.

Previously, defeating the red-skinned corpse had given these skeletons quite a bit of experience and benefits.

Now seeing another opportunity, a large number of skeletons pounced.

These skeletons jumped onto the abomination, clawing and biting.

The abomination, already angry at being unable to move, was further enraged.

He swung his iron rod, sweeping the skeletons off his body.

But more and more skeletons pounced on the abomination, each trying to bite him or tear off a piece of his flesh.

Seeing the situation, Gu Xi ignored the abomination and pointed at the red-skinned corpses coming to rescue the abomination, forming a bone storm to block their path.

"Luna!"

Luna immediately understood and quickly led the ghosts into the red-skinned corpses' ranks, drawing their attention.

Without the red-skinned corpses' help, the abomination couldn't withstand the waves of skeletal attacks.

After killing three waves of skeletons, the abomination finally couldn't hold on.

He was covered in wounds, his stitched-together flesh falling apart, leaving only bones and internal organs.

It was clear that this abomination had been equipped with more than a normal amount of internal organs, with seven lungs and four hearts of different sizes and conditions in his chest.

There were also brains soaked in liquid on both sides of his spine.

This explained why the abomination could fight so well, connected to these organs.

But now, with his flesh torn apart, these organs were useless.

Skeletons tore off these organs, some even attaching them to themselves.

The abomination tried to reclaim his organs, but his flesh was exhausted, his life force nearly gone, kept alive only because his head hadn't been cut off.

But it was close; unable to move, he couldn't stop others from taking his head.

Eventually, the abomination's bones were dismantled, leaving only a head with a string of brains delivered to Gu Xi.

Seeing the offerings from the skeletons, Gu Xi couldn't help but laugh, "They know to offer tribute?"

Gu Xi was about to refuse but then had a thought.

"Let the skeletons clean the battlefield themselves. They get a third of what they collect, the rest we take back. Luna!"

Luna looked at Gu Xi, seeing he was pointing at the items the skeletons had taken from the red-skinned corpses.

Understanding Gu Xi's plan, Luna quickly flew towards the city gate to clear a spot for the skeletons to deposit their battlefield gains.

As for whether it was right to make the skeletons hand over items, Luna didn't even consider it.

No necromancer considers the opinions of the undead.

Gu Xi was generous to give them a third, only because they had growth potential. If they didn't, they wouldn't get anything.

As Luna prepared to leave, Gu Xi added, "Luna, bring out all the armor in the city. When the battle here ends, let the level 3 and above skeleton soldiers change into it.

I see now, the enemy is strong. We can't just use skeletons as cannon fodder; we need to raise some with potential."

Luna nodded and quickly flew towards the city gate.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi directed the skeletal archer leader to shoot at the most chaotic and difficult parts of the battlefield.

Under Gu Xi's command, the battlefield gradually came under control, and the skeletons emerging from the necromantic plague array grew in the fight.

Some, with particularly fierce fighting styles, even reached level 3, becoming full-fledged skeleton soldiers.

However, their weapons were still bone weapons, used whatever they had.

This battle was chaotic, and Gu Xi could see that without seizing the opportunity to disrupt the enemy's rhythm, the outcome could have been very different.

Therefore, the undead must be adjusted.

Some serious weapons must be given.

The combat style of the spear soldiers from Combat Squad 1 should be taught to these skeletons.

This spear fighting style is simple, practical, and perfect for fearless skeleton soldiers.

And spears are easy to make; even a stick can suffice.

Additionally, regular axemen should be equipped to follow the spears and finish off enemies.

Only with proper coordination can these skeletons grow through battles.

Otherwise, they would just die and be summoned again, remaining mere cannon fodder.

For now, they could win with Gu Xi's help, but what if the enemy increased?

No one knows what enemies Gu Xi will face next, so he has to plan.

After this, all skeletons that reach level 3 will be equipped and trained anew.

They will become the main force in Gu Xi's battles.
