Chapter 248 The Orphanage
The man stood several more times, and it was clear that he was struggling. With a defeated sigh, he finally said, "I think I've tried enough. Can you help me back onto the bed?" He said, expressing his gratitude to Aleshia for obliging him.
As he waited for Aleshia to help him, the man strained with effort, clearly having a hard time. Aleshia gently helped him back onto the bed, propping his head up for comfort. Despite his evident exhaustion, he was still able to speak. Now that he had acknowledged his limits, Aleshia asked, "I know I helped another person besides Rebel, but I've forgotten your name. Could you tell me your name?"
Aleshia couldn't see his expression as he pondered the matter, but he eventually replied, "Oh, is Rebel awake too? Is she here, or is she sleeping right now?" The man seemed genuinely concerned and had failed to answer Aleshia's question. However, she didn't seem too upset about it. Instead, she answered him, "I'm not sure where Rebel is at the moment, but I do know she is helping Daniel with some tasks. That's all I know."
"Oh, Daniel," the man muttered softly, as if he were reliving his first experience of reawakening. Once he gathered his thoughts, he introduced himself. "My name is Jonah. I don't remember meeting you, but since you're here and I don't recognize you, you can call me Jonah. May I ask for your name as well? I apologize if I'm being a bit too forward." Jonah replied.
"No, please don't stress over it. My name is Aleshia, and I suppose I'm the one who cured you. The light that startled you earlier was one of my attempts to cure the rest of you." Jonah slowly nodded, and soon a groan escaped from a distant cot where Lucia was working. After some drowsy muttering, a man slowly rose from the bed, holding his head and groaning in confusion.
Aleshia noticed him and, after a quick goodbye, walked over to the newly awakened man. Allowing him time to take in his surroundings, Aleshia remained silent until he finally spoke up, asking, "Wh-where is this? No, wait, this is the orphanage. I remember this place, but who are you?" he asked, wanderingly.
"You are correct; this is the orphanage," Aleshia said, confused. The man didn't seem to pick up on her confusion as she continued. "I'm one of the girls Daniel picked up, and at his request, I've been caring for all of you."
