Chapter 247 - Unexpected Recovery

Chapter 247 Unexpected Recovery

Aleshia continued to reassure the man, but her ability to soothe him was limited because she needed to maintain her position for Lucia to channel mana into the curing circle. She estimated that it would take another minute for the circle to activate, and she could feel panic beginning to set in. The circle's brightness started to fade and eventually vanished. Lucia confirmed that the process was complete, and Aleshia instantly lowered her arm, quickly rushing over to the confused and groaning man's bedside.

Aleshia restrained the man to his cot and conjured some water above him, gently running it over his forehead to soothe and calm him down. It seemed the water was better at calming him down than her words were, as his voice softened and became less frantic.

Meanwhile, Lucia had momentarily vacated Aleshia's head to attend to the man they had just cured. She focused on analyzing his vitals, checking his pulse, and the flow of mana in his body. Occasionally, Lucia administered small doses of mana and nature magic, allowing his body to absorb the energy. The man's recovery was smooth, and he was able to overcome his ailment without the threat of the poisons reintroducing themselves.

On the other side of the room, Aleshia had successfully calmed the man down. After a few minutes, he started to regain his awareness and became stable enough to ask, "Where did everyone go? Where is Daniel?"

"I believe Daniel is asleep right now or, at least, he should be working on things," Aleshia replied. "I don't think you're in any condition to walk right now, but why don't you try getting up like you did earlier? It might help you find your limits or aid in your recovery."

The man seemed eager to recover as quickly as possible, wanting to discover his limits. He grunted in affirmation and attempted to prop himself up from his cot. For several minutes, he struggled to get up, exerting himself despite his emaciated body, which revealed his frailness. Eventually, he was able to sit up. Aleshia was beside him, ready to catch him if he fell.

After managing to sit up, the man paused to rest before trying to swing his legs over the side of the cot and let them rest on the floor. He tried to stand and was successful, but after a few seconds, he had to sit back down. He repeated this process several times, achieving the same results each time. Sweat began to accumulate on his body as he continued to push himself.
